Abstract

Aloe Vera centre in the Siantan Hulu sub-district is one of the agribusiness areas that will be used as an agrotourism and agricultural icon in West Kalimantan. To keep this center as an icon of agriculture in West Kalimantan, synergy between all elements, especially farmer groups, the private sector and the Pontianak city government, is needed. This research is to examine the extent of the role and intervention of the Pontianak City Government in increasing the socio-economic empowerment of Aloe vera farmers groups to improve their welfare. The data analysis used is qualitative analysis with a descriptive approach. The results of the study show that the role of the Pontianak city government in empowering the socio-economic life of the Aloe Vera farmer group is still not optimally. This is indicated by the intervention process at the evaluation stage does not optimally because there are psychological factors of farmers who are starting to be reluctant to cultivate aloe vera so that Aloe Vera productivity was decreases. The empowerment program and coaching carried out by the Pontianak city government have been going well but still cannot overcome the marketing problem even though terminal agribusiness institutions have been formed whose reality does not function optimally, because farmers do not understand the intent and purpose of developing agribusiness terminals. Socio-economic life of farmer groups, judging from the level of their welfare, still needs attention from the Pontianak city government because most farmers still cannot make the farming of aloe vera as their main source of income. Keywords : Intervention, Pontianak City Government, Aloe Vera Farmers

Abstract

Abstract

The haze disasters caused by peatland fires have caused reactions from each sub-system in the social system in Indonesia, which has led to an interpenetration within the social system. Interpenetration is a process that occurs within a social system where one event that occurs on one sub-system will impact to another sub-system, however it acts self-reference for reproduction within its own sub-system. Therefore, this research aims to analyze interpenetration among each sub-system within social system toward haze disaster in Indonesia. Qualitative research has been conducted in Riau and West Kalimantan provinces by analyzing discourse, both directly in the community and mass media. Discourses data in the community was collected through in-depth interviews, observations and Focus Group Discussion (FGD), while media discourse was taken from the discourse of the local media of Riau Pos and Pontianak Pos. From the analysis of the events of communication, it shows that interpenetration occurs in the entire social system. The economy, politics, law, science, education, religion, art, public health, and voluntary systems penetrate each other. Furthermore, interpenetration leads to new stability as a result of adjustments to ethical changes that exist within the social system. Keywords : haze disaster, interpenetration, peatland fires, social system

Abstract

Creative economy is expected to create a more sustainable economic growth compared with the industrial economy that is dependent on the resource. If the creative economy can be explored and developed based on local potentials in each region, rural development can be improved and can be a support for the people's lives, which ultimately can alleviate poverty. The research technique was conducted through descriptive survey approach, and the research place was chosen Sub-district Surian Sumedang Regency.Respondents were drawn randomly, 50 farmers. Secondary data is collected from: documents in related institutions and journals. The data and information obtained were analyzed descriptively and cross tabulation. The result of the research shows that the development of creative economy in Surian Sub-district of Sumedang Regency is faced with problems, namely: 1) the community has not been able to manage the resources possessed by the lack of knowledge and skills, 2) the lack of supporting infrastructure, and 3) the inconsistency of community development From the government, so the potential of existing resources has not been well managed. The development of creative economy based on local potential becomes very urgent to do. Development of creative economy can be done from the economic side, ie from upstream (cultivation of plants) to downstream (processing of agricultural products); Also from the cultural side (arts and ceremonies adat) and the potential of nature owned, can be used as a tourist attraction area. The local potential can be developed towards the tourism sector, by developing creative economy from upstream to downstream, cultural and nature owned, into several tour packages, such as: nature tourism, scientific tourism, cultural tourism, and culinary tourism. Keywords : creative economy,  local potential, resources, rural areas, value added
