Abstract

This paper presents the performance characteristic of a superheater of boiler power plant evaluated by measuring the working parameters such as pressure, temperature, steam flowrate, and gas temperatures flowing through the equipment as a function of time during 12 months of operation with the aim of providing data on the influence of fouling on superheater performance. These data were used to calculate the change of heat transfer rate with time as fouling deposition progressed. The results showed that after 12 months of operation the heat transfer rate declined by 28% below the initial condition. This condition is probably due to more severe fouling in the equipment. The gas flow rate must be reduced below its design value in order to maintain the design heat duty when the equipment is first placed in service. Thus the equipment will have to be taken out for cleaning at an undesirable time. To avoid these conditions it seems interesting to apply the rational design method providing available information of time dependence of fouling thermal resistance.Keywords : boiler, superheater, maintenance, cleaning interval, fouling, heat load, fouling thermal resistance

Abstract

Penelitian terhadap unjuk kerja  Ketel uap (Boiler steam)  Pipa Api di sebuah Industri Jaring berawal dari permasalahan timbulnya  cleaning interval  yang berlangsung setiap dua kali dalam setahun. Penelitian diawali dengan pencatatan data operasional instalasi ketel uap terpasang di Industri jaring selama enam bulan.Melalui analisa perhitungan didapatkan adanya penurunan panas yang diterima oleh fluida dingin sebesar 0,881 kW sampai pada 0,995 kW pada akhir pengujian 1704 jam. Selain itu deposit pertumbuhan kerak (fouling) yang terjadi pada 1176 jam dengan harga faktor pengotor 0.0000712 m2.K/W.  Penurunan kinerja pada ketel uap dapat berimplikasi pada proses produksi maupun pada peningkatan biaya produksi. Penurunan ketel uap biasanya ditandai dengan tingginya suhu cerobong dan penurunan  perpindahan panas yang akan diterima oleh fluida air di dalam pipa/  tube.  Indikasi lain adalah penurunan efektifitas ketel uap pipa api. Dengan mempelajari faktor-faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap unjuk kerja ketel uap ini salah satunya dengan mengetahui interval cleanin g yang di sebabkan oleh faktor pengotor (Fouling). Dengan memperpanjang masa  interval cleaning  sehingga akan menghemat biaya produksi dan proses produksi akan berlangsung dengan baik.Kata kunci : Ketel Uap Pipa Api, Faktor
