Abstract

This paper presents an evaluation on double loop integrated circuit module for inductive couple fed RFID Tag. The inductive couple feed gives advantage especially for flexible wire embedded antenna in controlling the manufacturing varians as the chip is not directly connected to the antenna. Thus electrostatic discharged effect and manufacturing errors can be minimized. An inductor loop is directly connected to the RFID chip before it is placed to indirectly coupled the energy from a meandered dipole antenna. The coupled energy should be enough to turn on the chip to communicate with the reader. The inductive coupled energy is achieved by manipulating the near field magnetic field between the antenna body and the inductor loop. To evaluate the performance, the antenna and the inductive feeding loop is designed to operate at RFID UHF band (860 MHz – 960 MHz) and simulated using CST software. The antenna body impedance is evaluated to match the impedance of the chip and the loop. It is confirmed that the double loop inductor has higher inductance values and thus should be counted in conjugate impedance between the antenna body and the chip module. The tag with overall dimension of 60 mm x 16 mm can be read at distance at least 9 meters through out the band.

Abstract

This paper presents the radiation characteristics of a two-element collinear array of shunt-fed, slanted dipoles side-mounted to a metallic tower. It presents the radiation characteristics of the array as commonly implemented by FM broadcasters and suggests methods on how to optimize these characteristics such as the power gain, pattern circularity, side-lobe reduction, and horizontal-vertical polarization component ratio for the array to better conform to broadcast standards. By determining these characteristics using an advance antenna simulation software, optimization variables are identified, and their optimized values are determined. The optimized values lead to improved radiation characteristics of the array in conforming with broadcast requirements. Results show that adjusting the distance between the dipoles to less than one wavelength reduces the sidelobe of the array radiation pattern; varying the dipole physical specifications improves the polarization component ratio and the circularity of the radiation pattern. However, varying the dipole specifications also reduces the gain of the array. For applications requiring higher gains, other methods of realizing high collinear array gains are recommended.

Abstract

This study observes one of the ECG signal abnormalities, which is the Premature Ventricular Contraction (PVC). Many studies applied a machine learning technique to develop a computer-aided diagnosis to classify normal and PVC conditions of ECG signals. The common process to obtain information from the ECG signal is by performing a feature extraction process. Since the ECG signal is a complex signal, there is a need to reduce the signal dimension to produce an optimal feature set. However, these processes can remove the information contained in the signal. Therefore, this study process the original ECG signal using a Convolutional Neural Network to avoid losing information. The input data were in the form of both one beat of normal ECG signal or PVC with size 1x200. The classification used four layers of convolutional neural network (CNN). There were eight 1x1 filters used in the input. Simultaneously, 16 and 32 of 1x1 filters were used in the second and the fourth convolutional layers, respectively. Thus the system produced a fully connected layer consisted of 512 neurons, while the output layer consisted of 2 neurons. The system is tested using 11361 beats of ECG data and achieved the highest accuracy of 99.59%, with the 10-fold cross-validation. This study emphasizes an opportunity to develop a wearable device to detect PVC since CNN can be implemented into an embedded system or an IoT based system.

Abstract

In the era of Internet of Medical Things (IoMT), healthcare monitoring has gained a vital role nowadays. Moreover, improving lifestyle, encouraging healthy behaviours, and decreasing the chronic diseases are urgently required. However, tracking and monitoring critical cases/conditions of elderly and patients is a great challenge. Healthcare services for those people are crucial in order to achieve high safety consideration. Physical human activity recognition using wearable devices is used to monitor and recognize human activities for elderly and patient. The main aim of this review study is to highlight the human activity recognition chain, which includes, sensing technologies, preprocessing and segmentation, feature extractions methods, and classification techniques. Challenges and future trends are also highlighted.

Abstract

This paper presents a novel method for the design of truncated microstrip patch antenna with DGS based on Double Looped CSRR arrays for enhancement of bandwidth. The proposed antenna is suitable for WLAN/Wi-Fi, RFID applications. A truncated microstrip patch antenna without DGS was initially designed for a resonant frequency of 2.86GHz having a bandwidth of 95.6MHz. By integrating a new Double Looped CSRR array (DLCSRR) structure on the ground plane, resonant frequency of the antenna is shifted to 2.47GHz and also the bandwidth is enhanced to 202.5MHz. By implementing DLCSRR array structure on the ground plane size reduction and bandwidth enhancement of 52.79% is achieved. The performance of truncated microstrip patch antenna with DGS based on Double Looped CSRR array structure was also compared by replacing conventional proximity fed microstrip patch antenna with the same physical size. The conventional proximity coupled microstrip patch antenna is designed for a resonant frequency of 2.26GHz with a lower bandwidth of 23.3MHz.The antennas were designed using CST simulation software. The measurement  result shows a good agreement with simulated results.

Abstract

In this paper, the proposed antenna consists of a single transmission line for 6-elements microstrip array antenna using Rogers RT5880 substrate material with a dielectric constant (εr) of 2.2 and thickness of 0.787 mm for navigation applications. The array structures of unequal patches placement are proposed with corporate feed line and H-shaped configurations are employed on the substrate and used the microstrip feed line with a corporate feed network excited via 50 Ω with T-junction method to control the feed for each group. 6-elements microstrip array antenna has operated at the resonant frequency of 1.27 GHz was obtained between the frequency from 1.2663 GHz to 1.2734 GHz where the S11-parameters of the structure designed and simulation below than <-10 dB. The analysis shows the antenna gain has increased 72.6% with high directivity as compared to single elements microstrip antenna. The radiation characteristics and other array parameters are evaluated with respect to the application requirements. However, circular polarization has obtained in 6-elements array antenna as the axial ratio is successfully achieved below than -3dB. The antenna efficiency, the current distribution, VSWR, and S11-parameters of the proposed 6-elements CP microstrip array antenna have been presented and discussed in detail. The design methodology and the measurement results have been presented and discussed in this paper.

Abstract

A three-factor experiment is conducted on the disinfection of water by treatment with high-voltage discharges formed to achieve an electro-hydraulic effect, in order to detect optimal conditions and rules for the course of the processes under study. In the study, a high-voltage installation with an electro-hydraulic spark gap, an EnSURE luminometer (Hygiena) for measuring the level of hygiene of water and its solutions, test tubes for determining the total number of ATP in AquaSnap Total brand water (AQ100X) are used as materials and equipment. The influence of design parameters and exposure modes of an electro-hydraulic installation on the properties of water as a result of the generation of high-voltage discharges is investigated; experimental data are revealed for measuring the level of microbiological contamination of the water sample, which, according to the analysis of the data obtained, is reduced, which can serve as the basis for the possibility of the potential use of the effects of high-voltage discharges as a method of preparing water under irrigation in greenhouses; optimal ratios of factors for disinfecting a pond water sample from a source of artificial origin are revealed: operating voltage 19.9 kV, capacitance 0.1445 μF and the number of discharges 2861 pieces.
