Abstract

The public sphere in the internet age is shaped by changes in traditional information consumption practices. With the rise of social media and other online platforms, the ways in which people access and consume information have shifted significantly. One major change is the increased role of user participation in shaping the public sphere. The online users are forced to act and participate. Currently media users are active and looking for information. The World Wide Web is a giant external memory, capable of storing a lot of information. Data can be by all. Even if the use of books for five centuries made linear thinking the primary means of reasoning, now it is gradually replaced by multitask, nonlinear, more thinking faster, more fluid and shallower at the same time. Internet users who relying on this external memory has better data analysis capacity, but does not have more synthesis capacity. External memory in the world wide web becomes "Source of amnesia" citizens: they know the information, but they forget sources (and consequently they do not question the credibility of sources). This forms the practice of consuming and producing people's information in virtual public spaces. The purpose of this paper is to find out how educated young adults consume and generate information in virtual space

Abstract

The development of technology has brought many changes to human life, such as the development of media with  various features and purposes. Youtube media, for example, there is a lot of diverse content that can be the choice  of the audience. One of them is content that discusses education and animal care, such as Alshad Ahmad's famous  YouTube content. But behind the popularity of the content, it turns out that there are people who think that the  content contains elements of animal exploitation. In addition to the development of the YouTube media, the news  media has also experienced developments, namely the presence of online news media. Of course, every media  tries to spread news that is interesting to the public. Kompasiana and Okecelbrity are the two media outlets  reporting on the figure of Alshad Ahmad. This study uses a qualitative research method with a framing analysis  model that refers to the Zhongdang Pan Kosicki model. The purpose of this study was to find out how framming  was carried out by kompasiana and okecelebrity in reporting Alshad ahmad. The results of this study describe  how the framming differs from Kompasiana and Okecelebrity media in reporting Alshad Ahmad. Alshad's framing  at Kompasiana has more to do with the issue of publicity (who) which also focuses on elements (what), namely  the trending event of Alshad Ahmad's number 1 content on YouTube during his 7 years of work. Meanwhile,  Alshad's framing in Okecelebrity has more to do with the issue of reporting on the persona (who) which also  focuses on the element (why) which has even been included in the news headlines.

Abstract

Sexual violence in higher education is a sensitive topic as well as a topic that attracts the most media attention. For example, in early 2022, the Dean of one of the faculties at Riau University (UNRI) was suspected of harassing his students during the implementation of final project guidance. Since it was reported, this case has grabbed attention, appeared in the corners of social media discussions, and become a discourse in the mass media. Many media outlets, especially online media, have attempted to revisit the public's memory of sexual violence cases in Indonesia's higher education environment, and how these campuses have handled the issue of sexual violence. On the other hand, several universities in Indonesia have tried to show their 'concern' for cases of sexual violence that have occurred in Indonesian universities through campus "news" portals. The question that arises then is whether the media concern narrated in media portal news and campus concern in campus portal news are similar forms of concern. This research tries to answer this question by managing the news of media portals and campus portals in relation to the news of sexual violence in the campus environment using a qualitative approach with a narrative analysis method by utilizing a narrative model developed from the thoughts of Todorov (1977) to define the structure and plot of news narratives, and Propp (1968) to dissect the construction of meaning through characterization. By looking at the structure and characterization in news narratives, it is hoped that it can answer how the phenomenon of sexual violence is narrated by media portals and campus portals and what interests are behind the news narratives of sexual violence published by media portals and campus portals.

This shows that there are many factors that influence the policy-making process and political decisions. The DNA method used in this study can help map the relationship between actors and discourse in a network, so as to provide a more comprehensive picture of the policy-making process and political decisions. The research also shows the importance of the role of online media in shaping public opinion and influencing the policy-making process. The results of the study showed a change in policy delivered by the government. The shift of the coalition of supporters to the opposition shows preventive measures in anticipation of widespread chaos. In the policy context, this research makes an important contribution in understanding the dynamic processes that occur in policy-making and political decisions, as well as the factors that influence those processes. Abstract

The issue of sexual harassment through online or online networking is a topic that is being seriously highlighted by various parties and comes to the fore in the term Online Gender-Based Violence (OGBV). This research focuses on the perspective of mass media reporting in bringing up a phenomenon of online sexual harassment to the public. Specifically, the study discusses the phenomenon of online sexual harassment cases that are actually experienced by men, namely Online Motorcycle Taxi (Ojol) drivers. This fact was analyzed textually using Robert Entman's model framing analysis method of two news manuscripts from two different online media, namely Viva.co.id and Detik.com. This research with a qualitative descriptive approach aims to find out the framing efforts and construction of reality made by the two online media around online sexual harassment cases against Ojol drivers through their respective news texts. The results of the study concluded that the two news stories on the online media had tried to insist on participation to the managers of the application service to provide protection to Ojol drivers which showed the partiality of the media to the victims. Based on the theory of media setting agendas, both news stories have included the agenda of the media and the agenda of the audience, but have not given a significant portion to the authorities as a policy agenda to come up with a solution to this problem of online sexual harassment
