Abstract

Communication is important in the public sector organization and plays a critical aspect in modern government management. Therefore, the public sector is currently competing to improve appropriate communication strategies as an effort to increase reputation and credibility. This research was prepared using a systematic literature review method regarding communication between public sector agencies of the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The aim of this research is to provide a comprehensive overview of the development of communication research carried out so far with a research focus on agency communication. This research method involves a systematic search in the academic database of national journals via Google Schoolar on 18 articles that have been selected using keywords related to BMKG communication in the period 2018-2023. As a result, the most articles in this journal will be published in 2023 (33%), with qualitative research methods (56%) being the highest, with the highest journal accreditation being Sinta 4 (33%). In conclusion, the writing of scientific studies that focus on the field of communication in the BMKG government agency still needs to be developed further considering that the field of communication is experiencing very rapid development so that this public sector agency really needs to carry out updates in the field of communication which have been carried out in recent years.

Abstract

The development of the times has resulted in differences in perceptions regarding the application of a culture, the fading of local classical cultural values due to the integration of modern culture which brings with it new values, which has triggered a shift in thought patterns and the meaning of a tradition, including madduppa culture. In Bugis tradition, madduppa is the activity of inviting by meeting the person being invited, with the intention that the person being invited can directly attend the wedding party and give blessings to the bride and groom. This research aims to identify shifts in the meaning of the madduppa cultural tradition in Sidrap Regency, South Sulawesi Province. This research uses qualitative methods, with an ethnographic communication approach, there are two types of data processing, namely primary and secondary, data collection techniques are observation, determining informants, conducting in-depth interviews, and document processing. Miles, Huberman, and Saldana's analysis techniques, namely data condensation (selecting, simplifying, abstracting, and/or transforming), data display (presenting data), and conclusion drawing or verification (drawing conclusions). Based on the results of the research conducted, it was found that there has been no shift in the meaning of the madduppa tradition, the tradition is still practiced today but has experienced a shift, namely the procedures for implementing it, the cause is technological advances causing the desire to make the implementation of the invitation process more practical, there are procedures for implementing it clashing with religious law, as well as a lack of knowledge and in-depth understanding of madduppa cultural traditions in society.

Abstract

The Industrial Revolution has changed the values of Islamic Boarding Schools which have begun to fade among students as the nation's next generation. Santri are more busy with their social media than living socially with the community in teaching and exemplifying the characteristic educational values they receive at Islamic boarding schools. In fact, the values of Islamic boarding school education have not been a reflection of improving the quality of students in society. The theory used in this research to instill Islamic boarding school values in students is visualization through documentary videos as a learning medium, so that students can easily access and remember them in everyday life. The results of this research show that there is a change in the behavior of santri in an effort to improve personal quality, namely that the santri are more motivated to learn and are happy to do good as a reflection of the santri as role models for their community. The improvement in personal quality in question is related to increasing the moral quality and knowledge of students. The true philosophy of santri is the continuation of the struggle of teachers and ulama' to guide society in religious knowledge and face increasingly competitive life

Abstract

The presence of smartphone technology has positive and negative impacts on its users, both adults and children. Positive benefits for children: they can gain knowledge and entertainment through smartphones. However, this positive impact can create comfort and addiction, which, if uncontrolled, can have a negative impact. One example is that children have tantrums when their smartphone use is stopped by their parents. This is what happened to children in Winduaji village, Brebes. Interpersonal communication between children and parents plays an important role in handling tantrums in children due to smartphone use. This study aims to determine the strategies or efforts of parents in dealing with tantrum children due to the use of smartphones. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with observation techniques, in-depth interviews, and document studies, as well as a review of previous research relevant to the research. The results showed that parents’ handling of tantrum children have not been effective based on interpersonal needs theory. It happened because parents lack or even do not involve children in handling tantrums (inclusion), lack of mastery in communication (control), and affection carried out by parents in dealing with child tantrums. Based on operant conditioning theory, parents need to provide positive reinforcement to their children. In addition, parents need to be role models for their children in the use of smartphones that are not excessive.

Abstract

One strategy to pique viewers' interest is to display contentious topics, cases, and sources. Metro TV successfully achieved this with their Special Report, "Becoming a Suspect, Rafael Alun Talks". This study was conducted to learn more about Metro TV's editorial approach to airing contentious sources on the Rafael Alun episode of the Special Report show. The idea of editorial strategy and the Hierarchy of Influence theory are used as analytical tools in this study. A case study using a qualitative approach is the methodology employed, and post positivism is the paradigm. The study's findings demonstrate that Metro TV's editorial strategy for airing the Rafael Alun edition of the Special Report consists of five key components: (1) picking topics that are popular and relevant to the general public, as well as their sources; (2) choosing the concept for the program; (3) choosing the team that produces the content; (4) processing the content in line with editorial and editorial direction; and (5) evaluation.

Abstract

Along with the development of extension, extension workers are expected to always be dynamic and follow existing changes. One of the changes made is the strategy of choosing media for extension in accordance with field conditions and the needs of farmers so that extension activities can achieve the planned targets. This study aims to determine the preferences of extension workers in choosing media for disseminating innovations and to determine the influence of the role of coworkers on the preferences of agricultural extension workers in using extension media in group communication in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta. This study used a survey method and 40 extension workers in all UPTD BP4 Region I -VIII Sleman Regency were selected through simple random sampling. The analysis conducted to determine the preference of extension workers was the Cochran test. To determine the role of coworkers on farmers' preferences, a simple linear regression test was conducted. The results show that agricultural extension workers have a tendency to choose extension media that are generally used. In addition, the role of coworkers significantly influenced the preferences of agricultural extension workers.

From 8 informants, 3 people have an oppositional position, 4 people have a negotiated position and 1 person has a dominant-hegemonic position. The acceptance of each informant is inseparable from factors such as the framework of knowledge and ideology possessed, identity background, work and experience and access informans to the song. Abstract

Notes of the Alliance of Independent Journalists (AJI Indonesia) at the end of 2022, the number of digital attacks on journalists increased compared to 2021. There were 15 digital attacks in 2022, while in 2021, there were only 5 cases recorded. Attacks, or what is commonly referred to as digital violence, refer to the notion of violence in which the perpetrator attacks network infrastructure or uses digital technology. Meanwhile, digital attacks becoming a trend during 2022 are hacking experienced by journalists and DDoS targeted at media organization sites. However, not all mass media have prepared anticipation for the potential for digital violence, including not all journalists who understand cybersecurity's importance in carrying out their duties. This research seeks to explore the meaning of journalists related to cyber security in their journalistic work and to record real experiences of how anticipation and strategies are carried out so that they do not just become victims of cyber-attacks. The method used is qualitative with an interpretive phenomenological analysis (IPA) approach. An approach where data is obtained and studied in an in-depth way, and sees each case is something that has its characteristics. The key word of this research lies in the technique of analysis and interpretation of data that is descriptive, which is presented using a distinctive language and does not aim to generalize the results. The research location is in the city of Semarang, with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, surveys, observations, and documentation of the research subjects, in this case, journalists from various mass media in Central Java.
