Abstract

Electronic archives have an important role in system of administration, it also as a valid instrument of evidence based on Undang-Undang No. 11 pasal 5 (1) 2008. Information technology progression requires the archive being processed electronically. The purpose of article to explain about what and how to manage archive electronic. This article was compiled based on the study of literature. The tools used to manage the electronic archives are hardware (computers, print scanner, and media storage) and software. Electronic archive different with print archive. Electronic archive has four cycles of creation and management of storage, distribution and use, maintenance, and disposition. Removal print archive into electronic archives can be done by way of scanning, conversion, Importing. Electronic archive storage can be done online, offline or nearline

Abstract

The paper describes the librarians understanding of the changing of citizens’ mindset. Its changing will influence to the enhancement of citizens lives, particularly in citizens welfare. To change the citizens’ mindset, librarians play certain roles to educate, for instance in informal education like to lift reading habit. The study is aimed to find the same perceptions among librarians to change citizens’ mindset. It is found that the librarians have the same perceptions of understanding that informal education like reading habit program was the good strategy to shape citizens’ mindset in order to make them more innovative and creative. In addition, the librarians have also figured out that reading may lead citizens to be more welfare.

Abstract

Gerakan Makassar Gemar Membaca (GMGM) or Makassar Love Reading Program is one of the Makassar city government’s programs in which it has been alreading running since several years ago. The program was proposed in order to enhance or create reading habit culture for the citizens. This study is a case study to figure out the perception of the citizens about the GMGM. The study took a reading area as a research location in Kelurahan Baru , Makassar city. The study found that the GMGM has been highly appreciated by the citizens, especially in Kelurahan Baru citizens. Nonetheless, its remains certain barriers, for instances; the lack of awreness of the citizens about reading, and the program was not widely informed by the government for all of citizens. Besides, the study also figured out some of real implementations of the program like creating reading volunteers, librarianship workshop, reading competition, and providing internet access for the reading areas.

Abstract

Copy cataloging is a process to copy metada from one to other library catalogs. The study found that the sources for copy cataloging from the National library are online catalog, National Main Catalog (Katalog Induk Nasional), and Indonesian National Bibliography (Bibliografi Nasional Indonesia). For Indonesian National Bibliography, its copy cataloging has minimum download fiture in MARC and XML format. In order to be used widely, the National Library have promoted and conducted short workshops on copy cataloging along with e-library function. The study also found that there were libraries that have used its national library fiture into their libraries. However, as a general case in Indonesian libraries, copy cataloging, in which it has advantages, still remains lack of use for many libraries.

Abstract

The study is aimed to know students reading habits in the government primary school 2 Pinggirsari located in Pinggirsari village, District of Bandung. It is a descriptive survey research. The population of the study were students who now in 3rd-6th grades. Sampling was used by using census method. The questionaires, interview, observation, and library research were used to gather data. Based on the research findings, it is found that the students were happy once they found books in the library school; the students usually read book three times a week and spent more than 15 minutes to read; in a week, they read three books and magazines 1-5 titles; most of the collections were found from their school library; frequently, they visit library/reading area in around two times a week.

Abstract

The study is aimed to know the development mapping in using open-access institutional repositories. It has been researched in August 2016 by using scopus databases with keywords: open access and institutional repository. The results findings are descriptively analysed according to publication years, institution and country names, journal names, document types, and research topics. To gather the research development mapping, the data were exported  by using CSV format (Comma Separated Values). These data then being processed and analysed using VOSViewer application program. The study found that the research development mapping have been occurred since 1986. From 2002-2016, the mapping have been significantly increased. The journals that mostly published its trends were OCLC System and Services, Lecture Notes in Computer Science, Grey Journal, Information Services and Use, Liber Quarterly, Library Review, and Serial Librarian. Meanwhile, the most type of documents were articels, conference paper, review, and book chapters. For the topic of research, it is found that open access, institutional repositories, societies and institutions, information services, digital libraries, metadata, and electronic publishing were dominant. The visual network has shown that the relationship among topics can be seen from descriptor lines in each field. The more relation descriptor lines the closest realtionship among documents.

Abstract

This article presents about a work produced by a society, which aims to train skills and add creativity. Makerspace is one person's or group's activities in producing a work. Works created new works or can be either recycle materials you have available. Works created new works or can be either recycle materials you have available. The city library is one of the libraries that have leveraged makerspace as regular activity in filling the holiday for children. There were taught how to make unique items made of unused materials and also made paintings that were created together. Enthusiasm of children is very high, they are very happy and enjoy the activities. To that end the need for activities in the library to add makerspace knowledge and hone skills for children. At the same time it is important to add to the attractiveness of the child to come to the library.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the activities of collection development at the college library in the eastern Priangan West Java Province. The location of this research conducted in UPT. Siliwangi Library (UNSIL) Tasikmalaya and UPT. Galuh University Library (Unigal) Ciamis. The focus of this study include six (6) aspects, aspects of the needs analysis, policy-making collection development, selection activities, procurement of library materials, weeding activities and evaluation activities. The method used is descriptive method with case study. For data collecting technique is done through interviews, observation and literature study. Based on the survey results revealed that UPT. Library UNSIL Tasikmalaya and UPT. Library Unigal Ciamis in general has done the stages in development such as requirements analysis, policy making the selection, the selection, procurement of library materials, as well as to evaluate, but the implementation is not optimal. As for weeding stages UPT library materials. Library UNSIL Tasikmalaya and UPT. Library Unigal Ciamis has not carried out due to face many obstacles between the limited collection of owned and issue procedures and the limited human resources (HR) is available.
