Abstract

PT. Schneider Manufacturing Batam has high NPV cost data. NPV or non-proportional to volume, namely costs that do not provide direct added value to the product. This is shown from the data on storage hours in the 2022 period which is still a negative number with an average of -1776.83 hours/month. The condition that occurs in the field is that refillers often carry out activities that should not be important. With the current condition of the warehouse there are three operators, this number can still be reduced. This operator reduction will have an impact on reducing production costs. The method used in this research is DMAIC. Analysis using motion studies on the activities of the fillers is then classified as value-adding or non-value-adding activities. The initial average value added using the three refillers was 47% and increased by 74%, it was seen that there was an increase of 27%. The reduction in refiller operators has had a positive impact and refill operators can still work on all job desks with only two operators.

Abstract

PT. X manufactures plastic packaging for cosmetics such as compacts, lipstick, bottles, and jars. PT. X wants to reduce the frequency of Non-Conformity Notification (NCN) discoveries, which are the products that do not meet the product quality standard after being sorted by operators. The highest frequency of NCN occurred in the Injection Molding Machine (IMM) production department, with the top types of NCN being ex-treatment, flashing, and dirty oil. The method used in this research is DMAIC, and the tool used to analyze the causes of the problem is the five whys analysis. From the analysis results, the cause of NCN ex-treatment is the location of the packing basket, which prevents operators from using the blower. The causes of NCN Flashing are the machine’s parameters and worn-out mold. The causes of NCN dirty oil are products touching the mold pin, oil dripping into the product bin, and limited spare gloves. The proposed improvement for ex-treatment is rearranging the layout of the work area. Proposals for flashing are to make standard parameters and repair mold. The suggestions for dirty oil are widening the machine’s opening, cleaning the dropping bin every shift change, and providing new gloves or oil wipes.

Abstract

This study focuses on managing risks in the Research & Development Department. Through the utilization of interview and brainstorming techniques, a total of 37 identified risks stemming from 14 specific work activities. The Risk Management Form was employed as a tool to facilitate the risk identification process. Out of the 37 risks, four risks were given priority for the implementation of risk control measures. The prioritization was based on the severity level of the risks and the time constraints associated with conducting further research. The risks selected for risk control design were as follows: the risk of sketches and specification calculations not aligning with customer demands, the risk of inaccessible reference image files, the risk of revising drawings, and the risk of drawing delays. The proposed risk control designs aimed to mitigate the severity of these risks and consisted of the creation of a drawing aimed to mitigate the severity of these risks and consisted of the creation of a drawing request form, standardization of folder and file naming conventions for drawing references, and the establishment of standard operating procedures (SOP).

Abstract

PT.X is a company engaged in gas manufacturing, which is carrying out an ERP system replacement project. This study discusses the design of branch readiness dashboards in the process of replacing ERP PT.X based on branch performance calculations. Branch performance displayed on the dashboard is calculated through several categories of activities that are often carried out by each branch, namely, scan filling, scan delivery, verification, delivery without barcodes, customer audits, and on-truck bottle balances. The dashboard consists of 1 page which is divided into 7 main tables where the 6 tables display detailed performance score figures for all PT.X branches for each category. Meanwhile, the last table displays the final calculation of the performance score for all branches. The branch readiness dashboard is designed to measure the performance of a branch whether it is ready or not in carrying out the ERP transformation process.

Abstract

Karoseri is a car body company that produces vehicle bodies and frames. The problem faced by the company is that the inventory of raw materials in the warehouse is often out of stock. These problems can cause delays in production schedules and overtime for workers. The existence of this problem is caused by 2 parties, between suppliers and karoseri. From the supplier's side, the lead time for goods to arrive at the warehouse is uncertain. From karoseri’s side, the amount of safety stock has not been updated and there is no order planning method or system used. The need for raw materials at karoseri is also variable or probabilistic, so the proposed solution is to use the continuous review and periodic review methods. The results of the calculation and simulation of the raw material requirements per day, it is found that the continuous review method gets the cheapest total inventory cost. After finding the best method for ordering raw materials, a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) is made regarding the planning of ordering raw materials so that the parties involved can understand and understand how to use the continuous review method calculation for ordering raw materials.

Abstract

This research aims to optimize the shipping routes of the largest container shipping liner company in Indonesia. Route optimization is essential for improving the efficiency of the company in the face of increasingly intense business and industry competition. In this study, a multi-objective approach is used, considering both demand and distance factors. The proposed evaluation model utilizes a modified minimum spanning tree (MST) with probabilistic calculations based on historical data. The modification takes into account probabilistic factors derived from past data, enabling better decision-making.Additionally, for scenarios where the route needs to return to the depot, the Christofides algorithm is employed. The Christofides algorithm is used to solve the Traveling Salesman Problem (TSP), where the objective is to find the shortest path that visits all points and returns to the starting point. This algorithm is based on the MST. The results of the conducted case studies using this model show an improvement in the performance of shipping routes, with a 1.13% increase in ship utility and a 2.83% decrease in total distance. Therefore, it can be concluded that the evaluation model for shipping routes, employing a multiobjective approach, modified MST with probabilistic considerations, and the Christofides algorithm, can provide more efficient solutions and opportunities for operational improvements in the company.

Abstract

PT. X is a company engaged in the plastic industry and focuses on providingplastic bags and geotextile products. The objective of the final project is to minimize workplace accidents using the behavior-based safety (BBS) approach at PT. X. The methods used in the behavior-based safety approach are called DO IT. The DO IT method consists of 4 steps: define, observe, intervene, and test. After conducting observations and analyzing the data, it was found that the circular loom, converting, and workshop processes have a good safety act score, above 80%. The extruder process has the lowest safe acts among the other processes, 71%. The extruder process has the lowest percentage of safe acts, so it is prioritized to be proposed for improvements to enhance operator behavior and reduce workplace accidents. After implementing the improvement, the percentage of safe acts in the extruder process increased to 87%.

Abstract

PT. "ABC" is a company engaged in the field of fastmoving consumer goods. In carrying out export shipments, companies sometimes experience problems in product delivery times. This can be seen from the data obtained for shipments to Vietnam in 2022. In 2022, there will be delivery delays in August, October and November. During the observation, it was found that the cause of the delay was a lack of duplex material. The shortage of duplex material was caused by inaccurate company forecasts and inappropriate stock data due to the FIFO system not working properly. From this, a proposal is designed to overcome the problem of company forecasts and the FIFO system. Based on demand data from 2018 to 2022 for Vietnam, the best forecast method is the winter multiplicative method. This method has an error value of 11,474 for MAD, 228,642 for MSE, and 15,409% for MAPE. The design of the proposed FIFO system is carried out to reduce the occurrence of human error when inputting data and taking raw materials.

Abstract

PT. X has a guideline about the assessment system for soft competencies for management trainee and supervisors, but the guideline reveals several overlapping, unclear competencies and behaviors that impact the assessment system. The current assessment system lacks accuracy and has difficulties in identifying the root causes of issues. In addition to the overlapping competencies and behaviors, the current assessment has no indicators for each behavior, and the assessment system itself is not good enough, resulting in poor scores. Therefore, this research aims to create a standardization of soft competencies for management trainee and supervisor. The research use expert judgment method to create a new standardization for soft competencies. After the new standard for soft competencies is created, a distribution of forms is conducted, and an analysis is performed by comparing the form assessments with the general assessments. The average score obtained is 3.8 points, with a range of differences between the form assessments and the general assessments from 0.1 to 12.58 points. It is found that 61.5% of the priority competencies need improvement in terms of accuracy. As a result, concluded that the newly standard soft competency cannot be implemented yet due to insufficient data and inadequate analysis results.
