Abstract

PT Untung Bersama Sejahtera (UBS) is a gold jewelry manufacturing company. PT. UBS is facing mass shrinkage problems which is about 3.16% during the manufacturing process. Most of the shrinkage occurs in the Hollow Division at PAK and PAF. The purpose of this study is to reduce the shrinkage which occurs in the Division Hollow by using DMAIC method. Based on direct observation in PAK and PAF there are several problems which cause shrinkage: container vessel gold flakes that do not fit the size of the milling machine, there is no cover on the front of the milling machine, the gold flakes fall to the floor, and the gold flakes that stick to the sandals. Improvement on the PAK and PAF are done by machine modifications, floor space repair, and control the actions that have been made. Shrinkage can be reduced up to 1.28% when improvement applied in UBS.

Abstract

PT. XYZ is engaged in the manufacture of the tank by using stainless steel materials. The problems experienced by this company is the placement of materials in storage problems which led to sizeable transport. Another problem is the system of procurement and storage of materials Consumable at considerable cost. This research was conducted first by calculating the initial moment of making the material. The proposal given to the warehouse Consumable is by calculating the maximum capacity using the dimensions and quantity of the material and the volume of material available storage location. Material procurement system given the proposed method S, T in the periodic review inventory system so we get a period of booking as well as the maximum capacity of the material. The proposal is given for Raw material warehouse is the placement of the material is based on the frequency of use of the material resulting in a more efficient torque. The results obtained for warehouse Consumable produce an efficiency of 7.24% and cost efficiency with periodic review inventory system amounted to 61.5%. The results obtained for Raw material warehouse efficiency by 2.4% and shelf placement process in accordance with other projects that will be done.Perancangan Penempatan Bahan dan Sistem Pengadaan Bahan di PT. Abstract

PT. X is a multinational manufacture company which produces consumer goods. PT. X expects to improve personnel transaction processes in C&B (Compensation and Benefits) Services Department by reducing steps in each transaction by at least 5% and the average processing time by at least 10%. The steps to achieve the objectives are evaluating the existing steps then simplifying it. Workload calculation using FTE (Full Time Equivalent) method by simplifying the task measurement and converting work load hours into number of human resources required. The implementation results show the steps are decreased by 18.06% and average processing time is decreased by 20.79%, which is exceeding company’s targets. These results affect the Specialist’s work load as well as total number of human resources from 6 to 5 personnels.

Abstract

PT. X wants to improve the export process delivery by reducing its leadtime. Value Stream Mapping is used to analyze the waste which will have impacts on reducing leadtime. It has been found 11 waste which classified into 3 waste’s type. There were 2 correction waste, 4 processing waste, and 5 waiting waste. There are proposed improvement given to reduce or eliminate waste. There are 5 processes of improvement that has been accepted by the company, and only 1 is not accepted. However, only there are 2 processes improvement are being applied. After the implementation, the leadtime is reduced from 19.895,992 minutes/331,600 hours/13,817 days to 16.510,094 minutes/275,168 hours/11,465 days with the percentage of 17,018%

Abstract

UD. X is a company engaged in the business of selling bike, child equipment, and toys in Banjarmasin, South Borneo. UD. X is only able to meet 70% to 80% of consumer demand. Overstock and understock often occurs due to ordering by estimates based on experience. The procurement policy that is used is Periodic Review Policy that consists of S,T Policy, and s,S Policy. The service level used in this policies is 99,99%. All policies will be simulated and compared with the current policy. The simulation is run for 5 products. Simulation result shows that in comparison with the current policy, s,S Policy can decrease the cost for all products while S,T Policy can only decrease the cost of three products. The result of 5 years simulation for the two policies shows that s,S policies is better than S,T Policy for two products, but not significantly different for the other products. This result shows that in the long run s,S Policy can be better than S,T Policy.

Abstract

This study is a continuation of previous studies, by Lydia Yoanita research conducted in 2014 under title The Distribution Optimization Goods with N Vehicles with Two Depos. Problems solved by four alternative methods, and the results declared one of the methods chosen for the most optimal in terms of distance and time calculations. The advantage of this method is generating distance and time calculations are optimal. The downside of the four methods is use same assumptions, vehicle capacity is 130 gallons. This study focuses on the difference in the two types of vehicles of different capacities, 130 gallons and 108 gallons. The design is done by grouping the corresponding customer address using clustering methods and Clarke and Wright algorithm. Grouping is limited by the capacity of the vehicle that has been available at each depot. Results of this design is 12 divided by the delivery of two vehicle types and two different depos. These routes are said to be optimal when the vehicles reach maximum capacity and relatively close proximity to the depos.

Abstract

Current workshop layout of PT. Aweco Indosteel Perkasa is not optimal. Therefore workshop layout improvement is needed. The improvement indicator which is used is moment without considering the cost. Total moment of initial layout is 64.630. The improvement using two improvement methods, they are 2-Opt and CRAFT. Moment of improvement layout using 2-Opt method is 61.584. Meanwhile, moment of improvement layout using CRAFT method is 47.511. Besides that, moment of improvement layout based on company’s provisions is 57.855. The best improvement layout is resulted from CRAFT method. But, the selected layout improvement need to be adjusted again with the company’s provisions. The final moment of selected layout is 55.550.

Abstract

UD X is a company that work in bicycle selling and distribution. Some of problems that occur in UD X’s warehouse is the long pick-up time. The other problem is inability of the warehouse to do FIFO system because the warehouse is using stacking system. This research is done by making a simulation in the current condition to obtain the pick-up time. The proposal of the layout is done by grouping the goods by throughput-to-storage to get the good’s throughput speed. Proposal alternative also made by the single racking with front end depot system and single aisle with font end depot racking system, and tested by simulation. Single racking with front end depot is the best proposal from the simulation test with pick-up time 22,017 seconds better than the current condition. Investation cost is Rp128.200.000,- and the breakeven is 21,6 years. Investation is considered as not feasible since the cost isn’t match with the savings that occur.

Abstract

UD. X is a crackers factory that currently has a production capacity of 3.6 tons for a day. UD. X wants to increase their production capacity to fullfil their customer’s needs. Production capacity can be increased by improving their steam and packaging process. The drying process is improved by changing the schedule to maximize their production capacity. The packaging process uses time study, therbligs, and right- and left- hand chart to improve the process itself. The drying process is improved by building inventory room for their work in process. The packaging process is improved by introducing two tools which are packaging ring and digital weight scale. The suggestion for steam process increase the production capacity from 3.6 tons to 7.2 tons and the recommendation for packaging process also increase their production capacity from 7.11 ton to 13.36 ton.The suggestion for steam process has been started so the capacity of steam process was increased by 100%. The improvement of packaging process is being applied by adding the operator from 14 to 16 which result higher capacity from 7.11 ton to 8.136 ton

Abstract

An aluminum casting manufacturing company has been adopted the quality management system ISO 9001:2008 since September 20015. Quality audit has been conducted three times, with the results of internal audits there are 17 minor, external audit stage 1 there are 8 minor, and external audit stage 2 there are 12 minor. Minor findings from internal audit and external audit stage 1 has been completed, but to the external audit on stage 2 has not been completed yet, but has made the analysis of the causes, correction and improvement plans.
