The nature of Indonesia, which has made us proud, is a country rich in natural resources that have been passed down through many variations, the design of interior products that the author is making is expected to be able to utilize the remnants of wood by perhaps being able to help increase the amount of wood waste littered in Indonesia especially the city of Surabaya. This table and chair set will be sold at an affordable price making it suitable for middle-low-budget cafes. With this solution, it is hoped that it can help our earth to experience the problem of garbage or waste that cannot be recycled so that the community is motivated to help and collect wood waste that can still be recycled to produce useful and beneficial products.

Abstract

Many people especially students who graduate from universities or young people who go to Surabaya to look for work will choose to live in a boarding house. Many boarding houses, especially those with cheap rental rates, do not provide facilities such as tables or shelves. It would be more convenient for the resident that if they are provided with some furnitures for them to do their activities or even just to put their belongings which makes it the main purpose for the designer to create such ideas for the needs of comfort and living even is it just a boarding house. In this occasion, the designer will build a furniture facility that is a table, chairs and shelves that can be assembled so that the user can easily carry it and of course the furniture facilities really help the user to carry out certain activities comfortably. Furniture facilities are made by observing, making prototypes according to the design schematic and evaluating the prototype to be a product that fits the user's needs.

The Merisi Indah Indonesian Christian Church (GKI) Building was built and inaugurated in July 2019 is used for Sunday school children. This Sunday school building contains the need of rooms and furnishings such as libraries and playgrounds with enough books and toys which may server the children well while they are waiting for their parents. The important thing of this project is that the requirements per room are specific and the types of use of furniture are mainly built to support the Sunday School Studies. All items in the commission building should not be pinned, nailed and suggested that the weight of the furniture is not excessive. Based on the background above, it will be designed in the form of making bookshelves, toy shelves, and banner and chalkboard holders. In this design, multiplex, Dutch teak, iron and hollow steel are chosen. The product has the "X" symbol which is a characteristic of the Church, which means cross, which means it refers to Christ. With this design, it is expected that the needs of Sunday school children's activities can be met.
