Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the appropriate foliar fertilizer in the use of Sonic Bloom Technology to the yield quality of tomato cv. cherry (Lycopersivcum cerasoforme Mill.) Split plot design with two factors was set in this experiment. The main plot was Sonic Bloom Technology (with and without Sonic Bloom) and the sub plot was four kinds of foliar fertilizer (Sonic Bloom Fertilizer, Growmore, Bayfolan, Hyponex). The quality parameters observed were number of open stomata, weight and diameter of tomato, color, moisture, content of total sugar and ascorbic acid . The result of this research showed that there was no interaction between Sonic Bloom Technology utilization and foliar fertilizer. Almost all quality parameters showed that treatments of Sonic Bloom are significantly higher than treatments without Sonic Bloom, except for color and moisture. Meanwhile, all quality parameters were not influenced by the kind of foliar fertilizer. Keywords : Sonic Bloom, Foliar Fertilizer, Cherry Tomato

Abstract

Maize (Zea mays, L.) is one type of plant included in family Graminaceae. The fibrous roots require soil nests so that it becomes easier for root penetration. Benefits of organic material and Vesicular-Arbuscular-Mycorrhizae (VAM) on the growth of maize obtained through its influence on improvement of soil physical properties. The study of efforts to increase moisture levels and permeability of soil organic matter on Alfisol soil using VAM aims to find the best formula between the dose of organic material and the VAM inoculation to improve Alfisol physical properties. Experiment arranged in a randomized complete block design with three replications. The first factor was a dose of organic manures, including 0 tons ha-1 (B0), 20 tons ha-1 (B1), 40 t ha-1 (B2), and 60 tons ha-1 (B3). The second factor was inoculation VAM, which were no inoculation (J0) and with VAM inoculation (J1). Soil moisture level was analyzed using Gravimetri methods and soil permeability was analyzed using a permeameter. The data subjected to analysis of variance followed by Least Significant Difference (α: 5%).The results showed that the application of organic manures 40 tons ha-1 in combination with inoculation VAM is the best treatment for improving soil physical properties. Soil moisture levels reached 15.72%, increased 7.32% from the control levels of 8.40%. Similarly, permeability land rose from 0.51 cm s-1 to 1.38 cm s-1. Provision of organic matter and inoculation VAM cause for the better soil structure, increasing water holding capacity, and the ability of the soil to pass water easily. Keywords: soil moisture levels keringangin, permeability, organic matter, VAM

Abstract

Sorghum Sorghum bicolor L. Moench is a crop cereal grains which is included in Gramineae or grasses. In Indonesia, currently sorghum crop brings new opportunity to be developed as a food crop, feed and producing bioethanol. The study aims to examine the interaction between the type of sweet sorghum genotypes and arbuscular micorhize doses, approppriate micorhize dose and sweet sorghum response to micorhize treatment. The research was conducted through a field experiment with a split plot design with sorgum genotypes as the main plot consisting of three genotypes which is G1=HZ-30, G2=Mandau, G3=Patir 9, and G4=Patir 3. As the sub plot is the micorhize dose consisting of three doses namely: D1=0 g/plant, D2=5 g/plant, and D3=10 g/plant with three replications. Observation were made on growth parameters which are plant height, stem diameter, leaf area, root volume, root dry weight, dry weight of the canopy and the dry weight of the seeds per hectare. Yield parameters consist of: essay panicle length and dry weight of seeds per hectare. The data is then analyzed its variance at 5% level of significance, and to find out the differences between treatments Duncan’s Multiple Range Test was conducted at 5% level of significance. The result shows: 1. An interaction is found between the treatment of genotypes and micorhize doses to both vegetative and generative growth of sweet sorghum. 2. Micorhizal dose treatment has not significant affect on all generative growth of sweet sorghum genotypes. 3. HZ-30 genotype with no micorhizal treatment produces the heaviest dry weight of seeds per hectare. Keywords: growth, arbuscular micorhize, genotype, yields.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of boiler ash which is a waste of sugar industry and liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) to improve the quality of rice. Experiments were set up using split plot and arranged in completely randomized design, with three replicates. Main plots were composed of inorganic fertilizers on 2 levels, namely: 100% farmer’s dose and 50% farmer’s dose plus boiler ash 10 tons/ha. Sub plots was spraying frequency of LOF "Bacteria" and LOF "Plus" with concentration of 15 mL /L consists of five levels, namely: 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 times spraying. The results showed the use of boiler ash can improve the quality of rice. Semi-organic farming system with the addition of boiler ash and spraying the mixture of LOF "Bacteria + LOF “Plus" and LOF "Bacteria" four and five times increase the yield and quality of healthy rice including calcium content and amylopectin.

Abstract

Synthetic insecticides have detrimental effect to environment. Botanical insecticides are considered to be safer to the environment. Need seeds contain compounds with insecticidal properties. The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of neem seeds extract to control Diamondback moth (DBM). A series of neem seeds extract concentration (0.04 %, 0.08 %, 0.16 %, 0.32 %) and control (without neem extract) were tested on second instar larvae in oral test and contact test. The results showed that neem seeds extract have significant effect on the mortality of second instar DBM larvae 24-72 h after treatment in oral test and 72 h after treatment in contact test. In the oral test, the neem seeds extract significantly reduced feeding intensity of the larvae 42 h and 72 h after treatment. Subsequently, the extract also significantly reduced the moth emergence. The neem seeds with concentration 0.16 % effectively control DBM second instar larvae 72 h after treatment.Key Words: neem seeds extract, diamondback moth, effectiveness
