Abstract

The research was conducted from March until June 2012 at Sudirman regency Estate No. 2, Datuk Setia Maharaja/Parit Indah street, the village of Tangkerang Selatan, sub-district of Bukit Raya Pekanbaru. The objective of research was to find the volume ratio of rice husk ash and peat soil as a media and application of urea for seed growth of oil palm (Elaeis guineensis jacq.) at prenursery stage. The experimental was randomized block design with two factors and three replication. The first factor was the volume ratio of rice husk ash and peat soil which consisted on five level namely 0:1, 1:0, 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, and the second factor was application of urea consisted of four level namely 0%, 0,1%, 0,2%, 0,3%. Variables of the research were pH, plant height, stem diameter, the number of midrib, fresh weight of plant, dry weight of plant, and leaf color. Results of the research showed that application media treatment affected significantly plant height, stem diameter, the number of midrib, fresh weight of plant, dry weight of plant, and leaf color, and the application of urea affected stem diameter and the number of midrib. The optimum volume ratio between rice husk ash and peat soil was 2.07:1 for plant height, 1.90:1 for number midrib , 1.22:1 for stem diameter, 1.49:1 for fresh weight of plant, 1.37:1 for dry weight of plant, and the media of peat soil was better than husk ash. Optimum dosage of urea was 0.3% for stem diameter and number of midrib variables.

Abstract

The arrangement of planting time and corn defoliation is one of the efforts for increasing growth of corn and soybean in intercropping system. The purpose of this research was to study the effect of planting time and corn defoliation and their interaction to growth on corn and soybean and comparise the intercropping and monoculturer system. The experimental design used was factorial with two factors (2 x 3) + 2 monoculture treatments under randomize completed block design with tree replications. The first factor was planting time with two levels i.e. planting corn and soybean in the same time and planting corn 10 days after the soybean. The second was corn defoliation with three levels i.e. no defoliation, defoliation with four leaves left above the cob and defoliation of the adjacent and above corn cob. The results showed that growth of corn and soybean did not affected by planting time but the growth of corn was affected by corn defoliation. Plant height of corn on 6 and 9 weeks after planting was significantly increased when the corn planted 10 days after soybean and corn defoliation with four leaves left above the cob but this treatment was decreased dry weight plant. Intercropping system was not decreased leaf area and dry weight plant of corn and soybean.

Abstract

This research aim to know : (1) labour Absorption, (2) farmer perception, and (3) Contribution of cotton transgenik to earnings Regency of Takalar, Bantaeng, and Bulukumba. Result of this research indicate that: (1) Development of cotton transgenik in Regency of Takalar, Bantaeng, and Bulukumba have permeated the human capital 3.120 people. (2) Farmer perception of concerning development of cotton transgenik in general good perception. (3) Development of cotton transgenik give the contribution to area earnings. Biggest contribution at Regency of Bulukumba, followed regency of Bantaeng, and Takalar.

Abstract

This study was conducted from July to December 2011 in the Tanjung Pauh village, Sub district of Singingi Hilir, District Kuantan Singingi. The purpose of this research was to observe the impact of the conversion of forest land into oil palm plantation at various planting year on soil chemical properties, including; C-organic, N total, pH, and cat ion exchange capacity. The method used is the method Observe with correlation and regression to determine the effect of conversion of forest land into oil palm plantations. Sampling of land consists of forest, plant oil palm plantation ages various planting year 2, 8, and 16 years. The parameters analyzed were pH, C-organic, cat ion exchange capacity, nitrogen total. Results showed that conversion of forest land into oil palm plantations shows the changes in soil chemical properties including, pH, C-organic, cat ion exchange capacity, total N and organic matter. Over the conversion of forest soil led to increased soil pH, which is forest land (4.49), oil palm age of 2 years (4.52), oil palm age of 8 years (4.76) and age 16 years (5.02). The results of this study indicate oil palm plantations to oil palm trees aged 16 years, still not able to match the conversion of forests in maintaining c-organic. On forest land have C-organic content of 1.87%, and at the age of 2 years of planting 1.05%, the lowest C-organic contained in the oil palm plantation age of 8 years (1.05%), and increased at the age of 16 years (1:42%). Cat ion exchange capacity in forest land 12.72%, changed to 12.76% at the age of 2 years of planting, growing 13.15% at the age of 8 years and 9.61% at the age of 16 years of planting. Nitrogen total content of the forest land is changed to 0.0285% 0.0427 at the age of 2 years of planting, cropping 0.0425 at the age of 8 years and 0.0283 at the age of 16 years of planting.

Abstract

Aglaonema is an ornamental leafy plant which has the beauty of the form, style, and color of leaves. The plant is from the Asian countries including Indonesia. Production factors affect greatly the output obtained. The production function is a relationship between the input and the output. Results of the multiple regression analysis indicated that the F calculation (8.534) was higher than F table (2.76 at α = 0.05) which rejected Ho and accepted Ha. It meant that the size of polybag, pesticides, fertilizers and planting medium as Dummy variable jointly affected the production of Aglaonema in Pekanbaru. The R2 of 0.760 indicated that 76% of the production was affected by theses independent variable and 24% was affected by other variables. The analysis of NPM ratio for the size of polybag was 0.054 which was < 1, it meant that the use of polybag was not economically efficient yet and needed to increase the size of polybag. On the other hand NPM ratio of fertilizers was 2.84 which was >1, it meant that the use of fertilizer was not efficient and needed to decrease the amount of fertilizers.

Abstract

This study conducted on October to December 2011 in three markets of Pekanbaru Province of Riau; there were Arengka market, Sukaramai market, and Kodim market. The purposes of this study were to know fruit flies species on chili sold in the three market of Pekanbaru and find its distribution channels. Research used questioner-interview to chili and chili pepper’s sales and host rearing method to collect the fruit flies. Host rearing method applicated to incubate rotten chili and chili pepper from the three market of Pekanbaru until the fruit flies imago emerge. Fruit flies were identified using a software intkey for windows ver. 511 and confirmed with the fruit fly expert. The study found two species of fruit flies from red chili (Capsicum annum var. longum L.), chili pepper (C. frustescens), and red curly chili (C. annum), there were Bactrocera papayae (Drew & Hancock) and B. latifrons (Hendel). Bactroceca papayae were most dominating fruit fly species on imported chili and chili peppers at Pekanbaru, whereas B. latifrons were most investing species on chili peppers.
