Abstract

Wain River Protected Forest (HLSW) has a very high biodiversity of flora and fauna, but the potential for natural tourism has not received maximum attention in the District of North Balikpapan, as evidenced by the relatively small number of domestic and foreign tourist visits. Therefore the purpose of this activity is to find out the potential and strategies of community development at HLSW locations. Stakeholder analysis is carried out to manage potential conflicts that are expected to hinder the resolution of social and environmental problems that occur in the community. The analysis includes three stages, namely stakeholder inventory, analysis of influences and interests, and identification of participation. Strategic and concrete steps can be taken by providing revolving grants to the community, priority in handling environmental problems, negotiating with relevant parties who care about environmental and social issues, community assistance models to create a clean and healthy environment. The community empowerment model is economically independent, Community-based ecotourism model for improving the welfare of the people of Karang Joang Village Environmental awareness model for elementary school children as environmental ambassadors in Karang Joang Village, North Balikpapan Sub-District, Balikpapan City.

Abstract

Semare village has a mangrove forest area and as a place to develop pond fisheries refers to the regional development policy outlined in the RTRW. Based on existing economic potential data, it can be said that the basic capital of developing shellfish and crab commodity based tourism villages in the village Semare is available and can be said to be quite adequate. One of the obstacles faced in developing culinary tourism in Semare Village is settlement arrangement and environmental cleanliness. The acceleration and increase in the intensity of the interaction between the residents of Semare Village and the outside world through the development of Shellfish and Crab Commodity-Based Tourism Villages is expected to accelerate the welfare improvement of the residents of Semare Village. Tourism development was chosen as the main strategy to improve community welfare because the characteristics of tourism businesses are to use local potential and always provide added value to local products while opening up markets for local products through direct selling to end customers.

Abstract

The main problem is availability of animal research (stock) that at any time required by researchers or for practicum purposes. This problem actually can become a good breeding business opportunity for LBioS-UB that can cooperate with FKH-UB as one source of generating income and is very necessary to get independence of LBioS-FKH UB. LBioS has the modern facilities that very adequate to maintenance animal research, while FKH has experienced and competent human resources for breeding, production and provision of experimental animal stock. Based on the Brawijaya University policy, the long-term goals and targets of LBioS-UB should be self-supporting laboratories, especially in administration and finance. The University has provided sufficient facilities/equipment for research and production of biological materials, FKH UB is provide some experimental animals through breeding and producing in accordance with quality standards that have been identified and adjusted with the customer needs. The advantage of animal research produced by LBioS-PKH UB is the existing quality assurance and staff expertise. Promotion will be offered through networking that has been owned by several national/international institutions with website media: www.biosains.ub.ac.id and www.fkh.ub.ac.id

Abstract

One of the main commodities of aquaculture fishery in Indonesia is tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus). One of the competitive constraints of the farmers in the field is the price of feed is quite expensive, so 60-70% of the production costs used for feed. The purpose of this activity is to utilize the organic waste as fish feed in the TPST (Integrated Waste Management Site) in Sitirejo Village to be processed as fish feed. The method used in this activity is Participatory Rural Appraisal (PRA) which involves the community in the activity. Implementation of this activity includes socialization, training, monitoring and evaluation. Organic waste materials such as leek, celery, mustard, cabbage, sprout, corncobs, grated coconut pulp, fruit like melon, papaya, pineapple, apple, bone and fish head. Organic feed was applied to 3 tilapia ponds with a diameter of 2 meters with a weight of 400 fish per pond. Tilapia seed used is measuring 10-12 cm. An organic feed is given twice daily with a dose of 5% of the fish weight. After ± 75 days of maintenance, the yield of 223 kg of tilapia produced from 3 ponds of biofloc.. The application of organic feed is able to reduce production costs up to 56.25% of the use of factory feed at a cost of Rp 4,350,000 to 1,902,850 when applied feed from organic waste.
