Abstract

A study on the composition and community structure of Scleractinia in coral reef ecosystem at coastal region Taman Nirwana Padang have been done from April - July 2013. This study was to know the competition and community structure of Scleractinia at coastal region Taman Nirwana Padang. The research was conducted by "Line Intercept Transect" and "Purposive Sampling" in two zones: Tourism zone and Mangrove zone and depth are 2-7 meters. Each zones have eight transects and each transect length of 25 meters. There are 50 coral species belong to 12 family at Nirwana beach. The highest relative density of coral species are A. palifera (RD 6.56%), Galaxea fasicularis (RD 5, 96%), Pocillopora damicornis (RD 5.79%), Goniopora pandoraensis (RD 5.27%), Goniastrea pectinata (RD 4.92%), P. lobata (RD 4.58%). Diversity index of coral species at coastal region Taman Nirwana is high (3.566). Diversity index of each zone are Tourism zone (3.533) and Mangrove zone (3.502). The equitabilities index are 0,907 (Tourism zone) and 0.909 (Mangrove zone). The composition of coral species at two zone at coastal region Taman Nirwana were in stable condition, and a similarity index is 95.8%. Keywords: Coral, composition, Community, Nirwana Beach

Abstract

The study of population density and distribution of Lizard (Mabuya multifasciata. Kuhl) have been carried from June to December 2012 at the Pasumpahan and Sirandah Islands. The survey method and purposive sampling were used in the research, and for direct collecting samples was used visual ecounter survey. Nine individual of M. multifasciata were observed in Sirandah Island with estimate density was 45 ind/ha. The lizard were dispersed through the island of sirandah but was absent in Pasumpahan Island. Keyword: M. Multifasciata, density, distribution, Sirandah, Pasumpahan.

Abstract

The micromorphology capsule and spore are important characters for identification and clarification of problematic taxa in Bryophyta. The number of Pogonatum species in West Sumatra are still unclarified. The purpose of this study is to identify and to make a Pogonatum cluster based on micromorphology of capsule and spore characters. This study has been conducted from March to August 2013. Samples were directly collected in two exploration routes namely Cagar Alam Lembah Anai (Kandang Ampek - Mega Mendung route) and Singgalang Mountain (Pandai Sikek - Top Singgalang route). The micromorphology of capsule and spore of Pogonatum were observed using a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). The results showed that five species of Pogonatum (P. ciratum, P. microstomum, P. macrophyllum, P. Teysmannianum , and P. cf. urnigerum) were identified. The key characters of Pogonatum was nematodontous peristome teeth, monolete spore type, prolate spore shape with granulate and echinate ornamentation. Cluster analysis of 44 individuals indicated that Pogonatum tends to be in the same group. Based on micromorphological analysis, the results supported that Pogonatum was similar to Polytrichum. Abstract

An inventory of terrestrial small mammal was conducted in January and August 2013 in the Mt. Kerinci and Mt. Tujuh. The mammals were captured using snap and pitfall traps with a total effort of 650 trap nights. This study found 10 species of small mammals that belong to 4 families and 3 orders. Some species were found in both Mt. Kerinci and Mt. Tujuh. Similarity index of Sorensen between the two locations was 42%. Those species inhabited in the two locations were Hylomys suillus, Lariscus insignis and Niviventer rapit. Key words: Mt. Kerinci, Mt. Tujuh, small mammal, terrestrial.
