Abstract

Large-scale topographic information is often difficult to obtain accurately. Technological advances in the field of surveying provide sophisticated instruments with varying degrees of accuracy. One of the widely used instruments is the Global Positioning System (GPS) Geodetic R6, which has an accuracy of up to 5-10 mm and the ability to capture L1 and L2 signals. This research aims to conduct altitude topography mapping using GPS Geodetic R6 in the coastal area of Kamal, Bangkalan Regency, Madura. The method used is Real-Time Kinematic (RTK) with a configuration of two base stations. The first base is located at Trunojoyo University Park Madura (coordinates: S 7°07'44.99587“, E 112°43'23.81230”, elevation: 6.81 meters), while the second base is located in front of Jalan Raya Telang Church (coordinates: S 7°07'46.65292“, E 112°42'46.91250”, elevation: 3.40 meters). The measurement results show that the average elevation in Telang Village, Kamal District, ranges from 3.29 to 7.89 meters with a Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) of 3.65. This research confirms that the R6 Geodetic GPS has high accuracy capabilities in topographic measurements, making it very reliable for precision mapping of coastal areas. This finding makes a significant contribution in supporting various development and mitigation needs in coastal areas.

Abstract

Plastic waste is a significant environmental concern, constituting a major portion of the global waste stream. Improper disposal and accumulation have led to severe environmental challenges, including pollution, harm to marine life, and contributions to climate change. Effective waste management strategies are essential to mitigate these issues. However, manual sorting methods are both time-consuming and costly, requiring substantial human effort and financial investment. To address these limitations, automated solutions utilizing advanced technologies like artificial intelligence have gained increasing attention. Deep learning-based method can automatically identify and classify various types of plastic waste using computer-captured image patterns. This study explores the application of ResNet50, a state-of-the-art deep learning model, for the classification of plastic and non-plastic waste. A robust dataset comprising 4,000 diverse images of waste materials was employed for model training and validation. ResNet50, with its advanced architecture designed for image recognition tasks, demonstrated exceptional performance, achieving an accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score of 0.99. These results highlight the model’s ability to precisely and reliably differentiate between plastic and non-plastic waste categories. The findings of this research underscore the potential of deep learning-based approaches in revolutionizing waste management practices. By leveraging automated classification methods, waste sorting can become significantly faster, more accurate, and cost-effective. This has far-reaching implications reducing environmental harm and fostering a more sustainable future. The results demonstrate that integrating AI technologies into waste management systems can lead to efficient and environmentally friendly solutions for tackling plastic waste challenges.

Abstract

Chilli pepper (Capsicum frutescens L) is an important horticulture in Indonesia. High demand often did not meet the production. One of the leading factors is the quality and bad seed conditions, which affect plant growth and production. This research was conducted from February to May 2024 in the research field and laboratory of Plant Breeding and Biotechnology, Agroecotechnology Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture, University of Trunojoyo Madura. The research aim was to determine the effect of gibberellin concentrations and varieties on the germination and plant growth of chili peppers. Factorial randomized Block Design (RBD) was used in this research with gibberellin as the first factor G0 (0 ppm), G1 (1.07 ppm), G2 (1.10 ppm), G3 (1.23 PPM), and the second factor was varieties including V1 (Bhaskara), V2 (Master), V3 (Viral). The data obtained from this experiment was analyzed with analysis of variance (ANOVA) at a 5% level of confidence, and if there were significant differences, the Duncan multiple range test (DMRT) was performed. This experiment showed that G0 and V1 had the best responses to germination and plant growth compared to the other treatments. Furthermore, this showed that gibberellin, the range of treatments, is still ineffective in increasing the germination ability and the growth of chili peppers.
