Abstract

Have been done a research which aim to know the pH and optimal sugar concentration at process of forming nata from cocoa seed dilution waste. Method used in this research experiment method by 16 treatment. Design was using a “Completely Randomized with composed of factorial” or Factorial RAL. The first factor is sugar concentration and secondary factor is acidity level (pH). The result of research indicate that formed by nata and thick and also different rendemen at all of given treatment. The treatment which is best is interaction sugar concentration 5% with pH 4 in thick forming nata that is 0,60 cm. and heavy rendemen nata of equal to 25,65%. Cocoa seed dilution waste result of fermentation can be made a alternative for the making of nata. Key words : Fermentation waste, Theobroma cacao, Nata

Abstract

Polianthes tuberose L. or known as tuberose is an example of the cut flowers, many of them sold in domestic as well as in worl-wide markets. In general, due to a post-harvested bad handling, its horticultural products were so bad and therefore, most of post-harvested flowers sold in a relatively cheap price or thrown away asa a waste. To overcome this problem, there had been established a research of how to keep the flowers in a fresh condition for a much longer time, and it was done by using a consentration of a di;utted sucrose to be given into a soaked fresh flowers of Polianthes tuberose L. an analytical result which used some diluted sucrose consentration and time of soakings to be recognized that, a consentration of 15% diluted sucrose in a two hourly time of soaking had a best result asa a fresh maker used by the cut flowers of tuberose. Key words : Post-harvest, Polianthes tuberosa, Soakings, Sucrose consentration.

Abstract

The study about plant community in the vicinity of Taronggo village, Morowali Nature Reserve has been conducted from May to June 2007. The research aimed was to study diversity of plant by using plot line transect methods along 3000 m with 43 nested subplots 10 by 10 m in size. Formula of Dumbois-Muller and Ellenberg was followed to analyse the vegetation data . The results showed that the studied area was very rich with plant biodiversity with Shannon diversity Index was more than 3. I recorded 62 species of tree, 43 species of poles, 50 of saplings and 68 species of seedling and understorey plant. The highest of Importance Value Index (IVI) of tree was Manilkara fasciculata Laam & Maas (Sapotaceae) with value 31.48%, poles was Ficus sp (Moraceae) with value 41.02%, saplings was Ficus sp (Moraceae) 34.50% and seedling or understorey plant was “lauro sambuta” (Calamus minahasae Becc/Arecaceae) with value 31.48%. Moreover, several endemic and unique plants were recorded from the studied area of the Morowali NR such as Sarcotheca celebica Veldk. (Oxalidaceae), Deplancea bencana L. (Bignoniaceae), Palaquium maliliensis van Royen (Sapotaceae), Macadamia hildebrandii Steenis (Proteaceae), Gronophyllum macrospadix, Korthalsia celebica Becc. (Arecaceae), Knema celebica de Wilde (Myristicaceae) etc. Key words : Plant community, Morowali Nature Reserve, Central Sulawesi, Endemic.

Abstract

The research about status study of sea water quality to life ecosystem in Gulf of Tomini area. Study conducted in January, February, and March of location is territorial sea water the Regency of Parigi Moutong which is gone the round of some subdistrict region ( Sausu, Parigi, Ampibabo, Kasimbar, Tinombo,Tinombo South Arch, Tomini, Mepanga, Bolano Lambunu, Toapa, and Moutong). For the method of data collecting, in principle data collected consisted of the primary data, and secondary data. Based on the perception data / measurement to sea water quality, in general sea water quality in territorial of forest mangrove, sea grass , coral compose , maritime area wisata, and area of territorial water of port perceived to fulfill permanent sea water quality for the biota pursuant to ministrial decree of State of Environment No. 51 year 2004. Average result of quality measurement sea water by in situ, like brightness parameter, temperature, oil coat, pH, salinity, and dissolved Oxygen still below/under permanent of sea water quality. From inferential the result that status of sea water quality to life ecosystem in area Gulf of Tomini not yet impure/destroy so that potency of the happening of defensible environmental degradation. Key words : Sea Water Quality, Ecosystem, Gulf of Tomini.

Abstract

The compound of sunscreen substance generally used is synthetic material. However, synthetic material sometimes has negative effect when it is mixed into blood current. To avoid negative effect traditional cure, such as Areca kernel can be used. A research has been done aiming to know the degree of effect value SPF sunscreen achieved from extract Areca kernel as sun protection factor for skin. The research done with extracting Areca kernel with reflux method in order to carry out component of chemical polyfenol as compound of sunscreen. Then, the extract is made soluted with concentration of 100 ppm, 200 ppm, and 300 ppm; then it’s 370 nm, following counting value SPF. The result of the research shows that all extract concentration of Areca kernel give value SPF, such as : that in the concentration of 100 ppm shows 2,19, concentration of 200 ppm shows 3,77, and concentration 300 ppm shows 5,63. Based on this research, it’s concluded that extract Areca kernel has sunscreen effect due to value SPF achieved fulfills in range sunscreen requirement, namely 2 to 60. Key words: Areca catecu, Sunscreen, Sun Protection Factor (SPF), Spektrofotometer UV-Vis

Abstract

A research have been done about “Season Effect on Heavy Metal Content Pb, Cu and Cd in cockle (Anadara granosa) on Tumbelaka Shore Palu by AAS Method. Distribution and concentration of metal Pb, Cu, and Cd on cockle muscle are not depend on weather or season of sample taking. Commonly, consentration of Pb and Cd in two season, wet season and dry season are undetected. Cu consentration in the wet season is 0,272 ppm in stasiun I while 0,295 ppm in station II. In the dry season, consentration of Cu is not detected. Key words : Season, Heavy Metal, Anadara granosa.
