Abstract

Library at this time has grown more and more rapidly. The presence of information technology, eliminate the library would not have to change with the development of information technology itself. Librarians are the dominant factor in determining the success of a library required to have special competencies in order to synergize with the presence of information technology in the library. In this era of information technology, librarians can be the enlightening agent and the auxiliary act of building a better civilization. Thus, it is expected the library can continue to exist in the era of information technology.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the citation analysis of scientific papers of undergraduate theses of students of the Faculty of Communication Sciences, University of Padjadjaran during the Even Semester of the Academic Year 2011. This study aims to determine the characteristics (shape, author / sources, language) which are frequently cited in scientific papers, publications of source of information, the frequency of citations of scientific papers and the development of Communication Information Science and Library Studies based on distribution subject of the cited references. The population studied is 227 titles of undergraduate theses from 4 departments (Journalism, Public Relations, Management Communication Library and Information Science). The population consists of 7089 citations. The results showed that the students appear to scientific papers from the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. Especially those published in book form. The scientific papers of the Faculty of Communication’s lecturers are not yet cited in proper proportion. Besides that, there are students who still cite from private blogs. In general, student’s skill to cite is still below standard. The study recommended the socialization of scientific products of Faculty of Communication’s lecturers. A guide to standardization of bibliography writing is highly recommended.

Abstract

Planning of Teaching Library (TLib.) as an entity involves steps of examining environments, conducting needs assessments, and evaluating available resources. In its implementation, TLib. affirms librarian to holds a position as more than just a supporting element for academic programs and research. The role librarian plays as a major organizer of intellectual asset brings with it some responsibility of teaching users to get well informed and benefit sources of information available and at the same time encouraging the opportunity of lifelong learning through continuous teaching-learning process. To librarian, teaching proves to be a supporting activity towards credits to enhance his career as professional. In regards with the concept of TLib. teaching is geared towards illuminating efficient techniques to evaluate and provide information for various kinds of users in the society. Giving new students especially, bibliographic instructions of how to benefit from the collections the best way through User Education effectively. Delivering materials of librarianship to information communities from both outside and inside the campus: in-house training, practices for vocational school students majoring in Information and Communication Technology (ICT), comparative study, and benchmarking. As information specialist and subject librarian as well, this professional guides a new paradigm with vision and mission basically doing some strengthening on the motto the university has, namely “A leading and outstanding university”. Standards serving as an objective tool are applied based on performance measurements and referred to the correlation between information resources served and the achievement of the Civitas Academica (CA) of the university in a more intense way. The TLib.’s goals as the implementation of standards are focused on users as stakeholders and range from the empowerment to the preservation of knowledge and culture.

Abstract

The high mortality of mothers and babies, can be prevented one of them with the convenience of women access information about reproductive health. women who have sufficient knowledge can take appropriate action to maintain and maintain their reproductive health, The more problems that exist about reproductive health, the provision of information is very important, with the correct and accurate information women will have the understanding and awareness to be healthy in the function and process of reproduction. This article is based on research results in leuwigoong Garut about the behavior of rural women in accessing information about reproductive health. The aim is to find out how rural women seek and find information on reproductive health. The method used in this research is descriptive method with qualitative approach. Data collection tools such as interviews, observation, and literature study. The results showed that rural women's behavior in accessing information on reproductive health, based on the need to improve the quality of healthy life during the process of reproduction. Information obtained from the nearest source of information, namely parents, midwives, hereditary advice and the people closest. The mass media does not get an important position for them to access information. The information found is used for oneself and spread verbally to the people closest to the environment.

Abstract

Libraries have never escaped from the service provider or business that is often called a librarian or library administrator. For schools, the librarian must be skilled and dedicated in searching, organizing and interpreting information needed by teachers and students. Without a competent librarian, the library can not be operated properly and effectively.Development of information and communication technologies are also pushing the world into a library for technological literacy activities. One school librarian competency standard is competence in using ICT in the library and information science.Competence is defined as a measure to determine the level of librarians in using the knowledge and skills. Competency requirements are constantly changing, so librarians should keep them updated.This study is a preliminary study conducted to determine the training needs of librarians in secondary education. In general, the problems posed in this study is how the competence of the teacher librarian or school library staff? The research question is described as follows: whether the competence of the librarians have been in accordance with government regulations No. 25 of 2008? Furthermore, this study also identify particular type of training that can enhance information literacy competency?The method in this study is survey research methods. A survey research is an approach that is generally used for extensive data collection and more. Through this method are expected to answer the problem by describing the actual number of teachers and librarians that describes the instrumentation to analyze the information literacy competencies already held by the teacher librarians in managing the school library.

Abstract

Digital library services in the implementation creating an ecological metaphor of information technology perspective. An ideal ecological information will create an ideal interaction between people, technology, values and activities. In the implementation, in Indonesia, the paradigm of the library problem where it presence is still underestimated, so that the implementation of a digital library is only done half-heartedly. The existence of a state to resist change may be one of the causes of this situation. Or maybe not.

Abstract

The era in which the exstense of ICT brings with it enlightenment in every aspect of life changes of paradigms in libraries exists. The change includes a transfer in system – from conventional type of services to ICT-based services with some orientation for the sake of users’ needs. The innovations taking place in libraries are influenced by 10 issues: "... a) the presence of electronic paper, b) new publishing model, c) on-line bookstore, d) e-commerce, e) digital television, f) integrated learning environment , g) remote university, h) mobile communication, i) print-on-demand, j) the threat og the unknown". The change in paradigms leads to manajerial which formely management bound to merely build and develop library collection, product-oriented services of information to ICT-based services management. Three major ICT-based services comprise human resources and non human resources, proactive kind of services and users empowerment. Accordingly, libraries an entitiy need to be managed bt human resources with managerial competence (leading, planning, organizing dan controlling), bibliograpical and library technological know-how, human relation skill, ability to work in team, elite type of conduct, elegance and intelligence, being ordered, ordered, school curriculum, writing competency, publishing, users needs, work partnership, ability of reading publisher’s catalog both printed and online, desoiderata, budgeting, statistics, accesion list, registration book, classification, catalouging both manually and in an electronic mode, indexing, writing an abstract, accessories, shelving, binding, fumigation, camouflaging, and others), services competency, users-oriented services, users empowering, wide horizons, expertise in one field of dicipline, knowledge of principles and techniques in guidance and counseling, social sciences, psychology and culture, library technological know-how, communication skill, human resources skill, emphaty, attractive appearance, fair, helpful, information and science know-how, form-making skil, flow charts of services, organizing materials, guides/labels, rules and policy, correspondency, shelving,PERPUSTAKAAN reporting/evaluating/statistic, punishment, how to use library education, simple general infromation, good sense of media, answeing reference questions skill, helping people to obtain information through face to face contact, assistance to readers in searching information, bibliographical searching/service, and competency and ICT (the use of hardware and implementing of all softwares on all operational activities in the library). The competency of human development at schools/madrasah should refer to Act #43/2007 on Library and the Ministry Regulations #25/2008 on Standard of School Librarians.

Abstract

This account derives from various resources on basic concepts of bibliotherapy including its history, understanding, values, and limitations. Study on the basic concepts results in some explanation about the principles of bibliotherapy, the strategies of conducting bibliotherapy with accuracy based on the aim and its kind of problem faced. Results of the study will be beneficial for librarians, psychologists, and teachers who are interested in learning about how books serve as a tool needed by users, clients, or learners at large who have psychological troubles.
