Settlement means a place (spatial) or an area where population conentrated on and live in together to make use of the environment to survive direct and develop their living. Pattern and distribution of the settlement constitute a closed connection. The settlement distribution deliberates the fact of where the settlement exists or is not obtainable in an area; while the settlement pattern constitutes a distribution characteristic which has much more connection with the effect of the economical historical and cultural factors. There are some measurement methods of the distribution pattern i.e with the neighborhood analysis formula (t) where if t = 0 it means the settlement pattern conentrates, t = 1 shows the random settlement pattern (uneven distribution), while if t = 2,15 shows the uniform (homogeneous) settelement pattern. The second method is the Demangoens Index (C) which only considers the total of the population, besides C score of the concentration, random, and uniform of the settlement pattern are not detected. Another measurement method is score per âgrid squareâ. The method of R scale is also applicable in the measurement, in which R score is concerned with 0 â 2,1491; if score of R = 0,7 it shows that the settlement pattern would be in group; R = 0,7 â 1,4 means an uneven distribution and R = 1,4 â 2,1491 shows the evenly distribution of the settlement pattern.

Knowledge shortcoming in fish-living management as well as marine biotic living cycle and fishermenâs fault technology capability causes their inadequate skill to catch fishes in large scale. To increase the result of caught fishes, it necessary to give the fishermen suffice technology of when and where the shool of fishes site in the sea. Recognizing the school of fishes in the sea is guided with the satellite data of NOAA, GOES, ADEOS as well as Landsat and the others which are able to point the site of where fishes are schooling. Besides, by making use of GPS satellite the position of fishermenâs ship then could be detected so that the movement ould be easily observed.

Geography as a science describing the inter-relationship between nature and human actions, has a particular applicability values. One of the examples is the use of gravity and space interaction model approach. This approach applies a formula in which inetraction within space an be known; by multiplying total number of population in two (city) areas and the distances between them. This application is very useful to plan infrastructure, particularly for places having low interaction values.

The research is conducted in Ngombakan and Mrangeen, two villagein district of polokarto, Sukoharjo regency. The two villages employe two different irrigation systems, one technical and the other non-technical. The study aims at two major objectives, namely: 1) the relation between the width of agricultural land holding and the income distribution of the different irrigation systems employed in the two villages; and 2) yhe influence of land holding having different irrigation systems on the agricultural income, non agricultural income as well as the household income. The sample include 225 respondents selected in proportion. They consist of 75 respondents that come from the village employing the technial irrigation. And 150 respondents from that employing the non-technical irrigation. The samples are taken in random. The analysis is conducted by means of cross-table analysis, frequency distribution, and product moment correlation. The result of the reasearch show that 1) there is small rate of land holding in two village; 2) there is a great deal of inequality of land holding in the two villages in which it is higher in Mranggen than that in Ngombakan (Gini index in Mranggen is 0.668, where as that in Ngombakan is 0.602); 3) there is a considerable inequality of agricultural income in which Mranggen is higher than Ngombakan; 4) there is a slight differene of household income in two villages; 5) there is positive correlation between the widht of land holding and the agricultural income, non agricultural income as well as the household income in Mranggen; 6) there is a positive correlation between the widht of land holding and agricultural income but there is no significant correlation between the widht of land holding and the non agricultural income as well as that of the household. The study was found out that the non-agricultural sector is playing an inreasingly important role in the distribution of household income. The inequality of agricultural income in the villages is considerably high but the inequality of the total income as well as that of the income per capita is relatively low. The contribution of the agricultural sector to the total income is lower than that of the non-agricultural. There is a difference of poverty level in which respondents employing the tehnical irrigation have a lower degree of poverty than those employing the non-technical irrigation.

GIS, Geographical Information System, is a means that an be used to plan and to develop the coastal area because in carrying out the analysis this system combines the space data and their  attributes. The activities done among others the prototype development of algae cultivation and tourism ativities, the development of fish pond location, the reclamation of the Jakarta Bay, and the concept of development the floating âKerambaâ for pearl oysters and white sea fish similar to sole. GIS analysis with heaviness and overlay mapping yields the appropriate map to plan and to develop the coastal area. The result of GIS analysis can be used to plan and to develop the coastal area.Â

To comprehend the factors which influence on the juvenile water, it needs paying attention to the rocks permeability, the thickness of the aeration zone, the type of the material composition and the depth of the ground water. The grade of the ground water quality, both ground water in general and juvenile water in the urban, is dependent upon the natural physical, man made physical, and the condition of the local inhabitant besides the another factors. The influence grade of the factors are undersirable yet because among of them there are cross-linkages. The linkage of the ground water quality condition, besides another factor, inconfirmed by the inhabitant and the settelement. The aspect of the man made physical, both sanitation condition and the population density with their activity effect i.e. sewage by product, should fully determine the ground water quality. There is a closed connection between the juvenile water quality and the settlement condition, mainly, in the case is the domestic sewage disposal. It is estimated that the unit of settlement associates with the grade of the juvenile water quality. Some of the variabilities which are desirable to sustain the settlement condition and constitutes the influence variability i.e. the density of the population and buildings, and the condition of the drainage system for sewage.

The data are also taken from the interview of outstanding persons. The method of analysing the data is relative descriptive analysis supported by tendency analysis gained from time series data.Demand and supply approachs are used to develop the tourism. Based on the data we an know the profiles of the tourists. The tend to visis (the tourism of) entertainments. Most tourists are adult and old. The greatest resource of the Original Regional Income (PAD) is from local retribution. This include the income from (the tourism of) entertainments and recreation which have low contribution. The role of tourism in Klaten regency should be kept increasing to support the Original Regional Income and development. To keep the tourism inreaseing the supported capital, engineering, and skills from the developers are badly neede. It is important to increase the role of Tourism Service and managing the tourism. It an be concluded that tourism hasnât improved yet the regional income and economy. That is why the tourism should be kept increasing.
