Abstract

The study on the thermal energy consumption and efficiency in coconut oil processing using HOID technology was conducted to evaluate the performance of the thermal energy efficient fumace. the preliminary comsubtion experimental conducted to examine the thermal capacity of the system, indicated that the system could be used to fry minimum of 2 tons coconut meat per 8 hours operation. The frying capacity of the furnace was influenced significanrtly by the ration of the fresh coconut meat to coconut oil and the amount of coconut oil that should be replaced. The higher the ration will result in the higher of the frying rate. The result of experiment showed that the maximum thermal efficiency of the fumace was around 70% this maximum efficiency could be achieved if the loss of the thermal energy from the system could be made minimally, espencially loss due to the sensible heat in the dry flue gas and loss due to the incomplete combustion of fuel resulting in carbon monoxide in the flue gas. The average thermal efficiency of the system was 54%.

Abstract

Technical testing of rotary dryer was conducted to dry Cats whiskers leaf (Orthorsiphon stamineus benth) the aim of the technical testing is to evaluate of performance the rotary dryer for drying cats whiskers leaf. the drying temperature suitable for cats whiskers leaf was 50-60 C. the result showed that the dryer reduce moisture from 72.47 % to 9.95% with drying rate 22.5% per-hours. The capacity of dryer is 2000 grams a batch and the heat efficiency was 14.05%.

Abstract

Research on planning model for development o cacao industry had been conducted and designed by using system methodology, and analytical hierarchy process. the system indentificayion consisted of constructing related input-output diagrams and strategic priorities analysis. It was found that the ystem approach was an effective tool in identifying a complicated system. Based on analytical hierarchy process the study concluded that planning of cacao industry development resulted high competitiveness product development strategic with score 0.3984 as the frist priority  and product diversification strategic with score 0.3550as secound priority. there were five selected factors that could influence the development strategic of cacao industry, i.e. technology (0.2986) capital and finance (.1568) raw cacao quality (0.1556) infra structure including facility (0.1102) and production or operation management (0.1090) meanwhile actor who had the high to small role in implement selected strategy included businessman/ frim (0.4920) goverment (0.1792) and farmer (0.1522) the study had also shown that the objective could be reached through increassing added value of commodity (0.1643) increasing market share (0.1498) increasing forein exchange (0.1466)maximum profit taking (0.1339) and increasing farner income taking (0.1320).

Abstract

A study to find out the best condition of in processing of nata from tempeh industries liquid waste ha been conducted. the variables used are sugar content and type of nutriets. the addition of sugar was 3%, 4% and 5%, while thenutients used was urea. ZA and DAP. the nata product was abserved for moinsture contenrt, thicness, weight of nata and dietary fibre content. Organoleptic test was done on the product of nata in syrup. the result showed that using 5% sugar with 0.4% urea and 0.2% DAP nutrient give the best product. the products were well accepted by the panelist

Abstract

A study on the drying of cats whiskers leaf (Orthosiphon staminues benth has been carried out. the treatment of this study were A) fresh leaf weathered, rolled and then dried. the analysis of dried cats whiskers leaf include: yield, color, moinsture, ash, potassium, extract and sinensetin content. the result of dried leaf analysis showed the yield 18.09%, ash 12.09%, extract content 21.43% and senensetin 1.47% at the treatment of D (fresh leaf weathered, rolled and the dried) compared with another treatment and the color is slightly brown. the lowes the moinsture was 8.66% at the treatment of A (fresh leaf were dried directly).
