Abstract

The objective of this study are : (1) to understand about the contribution of sorghum farming income to total household income, (2) factors that influence sorghum farming income, and (3) income distribution level of sorghum farmers in Gunungkidul Regency.The basic methodused in this studyis descriptive-analytic. Sampling method used in this study is purposive sampling. The data weretaken from 30 farmers in study area. The data was collected by an interview,questionnaires and literatures study case.In order to learn the several factors influencing income level, isused multiple linear regression method.On the other hand,the level of total income distribution of sorghum farmerswas analylizedby using Gini Ratio and Lorenz Curve. The results of this study showsthat shorgum farming incomecontributes 2% for total farmers income. This study also show that sorghum farming does not cause inequality income in the study area. Several factorsthat affect sorghum farmers income positively are the land size and seed prices.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) determine the factors that influence the sorghum production in Gunungkidul District; (2) determine theallocative efficiency of sorghum production factors in Gunungkidul District. Number of respondents were 30 farmers chosen by purposive sampling. Analysis tools used in this research were the Cobb-Douglass Production Function and Allocative Efficiency Analysis. The result showed that the inputs such as  land, seeds and organicfertilizerpositive affected to production of sorghum in Gunungkidul District. Result ofAllocative Efficiency analysis showedthat allocation ofland, seeds and organicfertilizer have not been efficient insorghum’sfarming in Gunungkidul District.

Abstract

This research was conducted (1) to determine the organic rice consumption patterns in the region of Yogyakarta City (2) to determine the characteristics of organic rice consumed in the region of Yogyakarta City and (3) to identify the factors influencing the demand for organic rice in Yogyakarta City. The basic method for this research is descriptive analysis. The research located in Yogyakarta City were determined through incidental sampling, there were 35 organic rice consumers as respondents. The data was analyzed by multiple linier regression analysis by Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The result showed that (1) there are 3 categories for the consumption patterns of organic rice at the household level in Yogyakarta City, they are  routinely, mixed, and occasionally, with the following results: total food expenditure per month 2,1 million rupiahs - 5 million rupiahs (45,71%), the amount of consumption per month is 21-40 kg by the number of family 5-7 members (51,43%), most consumers choose distributor as a place to purchase organic rice (60%), the main reason of organic rice consumption is the health factor (88,57%), consumers are satisfied to consume organic rice (85,71%), the long of consumption is 1-6 months (42,86%), source of information about the benefits of organic rice from the electronic media (36,36%) and information about the characteristics of organic rice from distributors, (2) consumers of organic rice at the household in Yogyakarta City (40%) consume organic rice from menthik wangi variety that has typical characteristic of white color, rice color level is clear, the rice smells fragrant, rough texture, low broken rice percentage (10-20%), sweet taste, rice fluffiness level is fluffier and more durable resistance, (3) the consumption of organic rice is positively affected by organic rice consumption are the price of non-organic rice, instant noodles price, health factor and negatively affected by price of tempe and tahu price. Non-organic rice and instant noodles are substitutes for organic rice, while tempe and tahu are complements of organic rice.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Sanden subdistrict Bantul district with the purpose of finding out: 1) the communication behavior of onion farmers, 2) factors affecting communication behaviour, 3) factors affecting farmer’s attitude, and 4) the influence of communication behavior, attitude, and other factors, toward technology adoption of onion cultivation.The method used in this research was descriptive approach by survey technique. The sampling of village and farming groups were done purposively, while the sampling of respondent farmers was done randomly. The number of total sample was 60 farmers consisted of 30 farmers from Manunggal Farming Group, Srigading Village, and 30 farmers from Karang Rejo Farming Group, Gadingharjo Village. The analysis methods used were proportion test and multiple linier regression analysis.The result of this research showed that farmer’s communication behavior belonged to low category. The credibility of communication media positively affected toward farmer’s communication behavior, while education, land size, and motivation didn’t have significant affect. Communication behavior, motivation, dan education  positively  affected  toward  farmer’s  attitude,  while  land  size  didn’t  have  significant  affect. Farmer’s attitude positively affected toward technology adoption of onion cultivation, communication behavior, motivation, education, dan  land  size didn’t have  significant affect. Communication behavior affected toward attitude and furthermore attitude affected toward technology adoption of onion at sandy coastal land.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Kalikajar Sub District Wonosobo Regency. The purpose of this research were to understand how far the role of farmer group in the application of SRI (System of Rice Intensification), influencing the factors in the role of farmer group in SRI application, and to understand the influence of the farmer group’s role in the SRI application in Kalikajar Sub Wonosobo Regency. The method were used in this research was descriptive analysis. The data were analyzed by proportion test, multiple linear regression analysis and simple linear regression analysis.The result of this research showed that more than 50% at sample evaluated that using rates the role of farmer group in high category. Farmer’s attitude and the role of extension agents positively affected to the role of farmer group in SRI application. The farmer’s level of education, land scale, farmer’s experience, frequence of the attendance, and the role of farmer group’s leader have no affect in the role of farmer group in SRI application. The role of farmer group as learning media, cooperation media, and production unit has positively affected to SRI application in Kalikajar Sub District Wonosobo Regency which means the application of SRI increased as the increased of the role farmer group.

Abstract

This research is aim at knowing farmer’s household knowledge to climate change in sub urban and rural area, knowing the farmer’s household is affected by exposure of climate change in sub urban and rural area, knowing adaptive strategy of farmer’s household to climate change in sub urban and rural area, and calculating the Livelihood Vulnerability Index (LVI) of farmer’s household to climate change in sub urban and rural area. This research was done in Gunungkidul Regency by purposive included sub urban and rural area.  There was 60 respondents of farmer’s household token by random sampling method and chose every 30 respondents in each area. This research used descriptive table analysis method and index calculation. The results of this research show that farmer’s household in sub urban and rural area of Gunungkidul Regency have low knowledge to climate change. The farmer’s household in sub urban and rural area of Gunungkidul Regency feels the rain more uncertainly and more difficult to determine the beginning of planting season. The farmer’s household in sub urban area is feels more climate change impact. The farmer’s household in sub urban area has more farming adaptive strategy to climate change. The farmer’s household in sub urban area is more expose and more sensitive to climate change but has more adaptive capacity to climate change. The farmer’s household in sub urban area is more vulnerable in climate change than rural area in both of LVI and LVI-IPCC calculation method.

Abstract

The purpose of this research are to determine the factors that influence the Indonesian wheat imports and the trend of Indonesian wheat imports. The method used in this research was descriptive analysis method using time series data from the years 1992 to 2011. The variables used are national income (GNP), population, international wheat prices, domestic rice prices, exchange rates, and the use of wheat flour by industry. The trend of import volume of wheat showed that there will be additional of import wheat volume around of 11.793 ton per year. Determinant factors which significantly affecting import volume of wheat are national income (GNP), population, international wheat prices and exchange rates, while the domestic rice prices and the use of wheat flour by industry had no significant effect on the volume of imports.

Abstract

This research was done in Bantul district. The purposes of this research were to find out the motivation rate of women farmers group in diversification of local food in Bantul district, the influencing factors, and also to find out the influence of motivation and the other factors to successing local food diversification. This research bassicaly applied analytic descriptive method and used purposive method for sub-district and women farmers group sampling. It was took 15 group members from each women farmers group using simple random sampling, so in total there were 60 members as sample. Data analysis has been done by using propostion test and multiple regression analysis. The research results showed that the larger part of women farmers group in Bantul district have a high motivation on the local food diversification, price of rice and active counseling have a possitive influence on motivation. Meanwhile, age, level of education, income, perception of local foods, and mass media access do not have influence to the motivation of local food diversivication. Price of rice has a negative influence on success local food diversification, while income, active counseling, perception of local foods have a possitive influence of local food diversification sucess. Meanwhile, age, level of education, mass media access and motivation do not have influence on local food diversification success.

Abstract

This research aim at knowing tobacco and tobacco agro-industry growth inclination in Jawa Timur Regency, knowing backward and forward linkage of tobacco agro-industry sector to the other economic sectors in Jawa Timur Regency, knowing economic impact is caused by tobacco agro-industry sector base on multiplier effect of output, income, and labor in Jawa Timur Regency. This research used Input-Output Table of Domestic Transaction based on Producer Price in Jawa Timur at 2010, secondary data about land size, production, and productivity of tobacco around 2000-2011, also number of industry, labor, and tobacco ago-industry output value in Jawa Timur Regency around 2000-2011. The results of this research show that tobacco land size is declining, but number of industry, labor, and tobacco industry output value are increasing. Backward linkage for cigarette sector is low while tobacco processing sector is high. Forward linkages for both sectors are low. Cigarette sector is belonging to output and income sector with low impact, but it has high labor impact. Tobacco processing sector is belonging to output and income sector with high impact, but it has low labor impact.

Abstract

This study aimeds to determine (1) factors affecting sugarcane production (2) factors affecting the sugarcane income (3) the risk ofsugarcane production and income (4) contribution of sugarcane farm-income to farmer households’ income (5) income distribution among farmer households (6) the level of farmer households’ welfare in Bantul District. The basic method of this research was descriptive analytical, sample was chosen  purposively. Number of respondent was 30 sugarcane farmers. Analytical tools were the Cobb-Douglas production function and Unit Output Price (UOP) profit function. The result showed that (1) factors that positively influencing to the sugarcane production were land acreage, sugarcane seedlings, ZA fertilizer, pesticides, cultivating labor, harvesting labor and cropping method (2) factor that positively influencing to the sugarcane income was land acreage. Income factor that had negatively influence to the sugarcane income were sugarcane seedling’s price and cultivating labor’s wage (3) production risk of second ratoon sugarcane  was the highest among other sugarcane planting systems. Income risk of second ratoon sugarcane  was the highest among other sugarcane planting system (4) contribution of sugarcane income to the farm household income was the majority (5) sugarcane income could improve farm household’s income distribution (6) sugarcane farm-households was classified as a prosperous household.
