Abstract

The aim of this research is to explore and identify the influence of using the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model on the mathematics learning outcomes of class VII students at Public Middle School 1 Tanjung Jabung Timur, as well as to understand the relationship between students' metacognitive knowledge and their learning outcomes in the context of using the PBL model. In this study, the research design followed a 2x2 factorial design with a pretest and posttest. The sampling technique in this research used simple random sampling. The experiment consisted of 4 meetings in a series of activities, namely the first was pre-learning preparation and group division and determining group leaders. The instruments in this research used a metacognitive knowledge questionnaire and learning outcomes tests. Analysis of this research data uses a pretest average similarity test (one way ANOVA). Based on research on the use of the PBL model in class VII students at Public Middle School 1 Tanjung Jabung Timur, it can be concluded that the PBL model has a positive effect on students' mathematics learning outcomes, with a higher level of achievement compared to the conventional approach. In addition, metacognitive knowledge also influences mathematics learning outcomes, where students with high metacognitive knowledge show statistically significant differences compared to students who have low metacognitive knowledge.

Abstract

The research focused on the implementation of teaching strategies for Jambi traditional music in local content subjects at Public Middle School 23 Merangin. It employed a qualitative phenomenological approach, involving interviews, observations, documentation, and questionnaires. The planning stage involved mapping the curriculum and developing a teaching plan based on chosen themes. During implementation, various teaching strategies like social inquiry and problem-based learning were utilized alongside multimedia tools. Evaluation included assessing student participation and performance through various methods. The data analysis used in this research is data analysis using a qualitative approach, namely data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. Results showed that the teaching strategies were well-organized and effective, supporting the achievement of learning goals. The significance lies in enhancing cultural values through education. The study's novelty and implications lie in its comprehensive approach to teaching strategies and their impact on learning outcomes. Abstract

The development of a peer counseling guidebook for junior high school students aims to enhance the quality of counseling services in schools. Drawing from the necessity of addressing adolescent challenges and the significance of peer influence, this study utilized a development model to create an effective guide. The research involved 42 class VIII students, following the ADDIE model for guide development. Material and design experts validated the guide, resulting in high scores of 96.8% and 87.5%, respectively. Field trials exhibited promising results, with an average score of 85.7% to 90.3%. The guidebook's potential was evident in positive student responses, indicating its capacity to strengthen social support networks and promote mental well-being among adolescents. This research contributes a holistic approach to guidebook development, emphasizing practical needs and mental health literacy. Despite limitations in generalizability, future research should broaden field trials to diverse school contexts for wider applicability. In conclusion, the peer counseling guide offers valuable support in addressing adolescent challenges, emphasizing the importance of peer influence in school counseling services.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to create a joyful learning environment through a competitive and cooperative activities by using mathematics games. The subject of this research is elementary school the fourth grade students. The research conducted in the Edu-Fun Learning Centre in Talang bakung, Jambi. This is Classroom Action Research (CAR). The instrument used is observation and video recording of learning activities. The qualitative data analyzed by employing the Miles and Huberman (1994).The research was conduct for three cycles. The result showed that 1) the use of games in learning mathematics created a fun and interestingly learning, 2) grouping students randomly based on academic ability to effectively train students mutually learn and work together to get better grades, 3) competition in learning activities trained students to be sportive, learning to posed ideas, and confident to answer teacher’s questions, 4) students response in learning activities affects students achievement, 5) competitiveness does not affect students learning achievement directly but able to make students actively involved in learning activity, 6) the cognitive, affective and physicomotoric achievement based on students response, the classroom teaching process, competitive character, and students active involvement in learning activities.
