Abstract

The use of synthetic pesticides are generally less secure because it can be detrimental to human health and the environment, therefore, sought a safe control for the products, people and the environment. Alternatives that need to be developed is the product of the biological nature of the organism narrow spectrum target. This research aims to determine the effect of clove leaf oil to S. oryzae. Research using complete random design (CRD) with various concentrations of clove leaf oil formulation of 0.50%; 0.38%; 0.25%; 0.13 and control, with 5 times replications. The influence of clove leaf oil can be determined by the contact test, repelensi resources, the development of insect populations. The results showed that the leaf oil of clove with a concentration of 0.50%; 0.38%; 0.25% and; 0.13 have influence as a contact poison, not as a repelen but tends to antraktan S. oryzae, as well as inhibiting the development of the insect S. oryzae

Abstract

Chrysanthemum stunt viroid (CSVd) is an important disease of the florist’s chrysanthemum caused by viroid. The symptoms of CSVd disease were variable and are highly depend on both of cultivar and environmental conditions. The main symptom is stunting, causing the reduction of weight in overall of mature plants 30 to 50%. The other common symptoms in floral showed the infected plants having reduction of flower size and demonstrating premature flowering. CSVd is mainly transmitted by propagation, when cuttings have been taken from infected mother plants. Our survey on growing fields in Baturiti (Bali), Cipanas and Bandung (West Java), and Medan (North Sumatera) found 51.22% of samples to be infected by CSVd based on the bioassay using S. cruentus. The infections of CSVd were found in all of survey location. Using the specific primers for CSVd, a 250 bp DNA product was successfully amplified by RT-PCR technique. By sequencing analysis, Indonesian isolates were classified into two groups. The first group consist of the isolates from Cipanas, Medan and Bandung, and another group was Baturiti isolate.

Abstract

Mosaic disease outbreaks on chili (Capsicum annum) associated with Cucumber Mosaic Virus (CMV) is serious worldwide. The use of resistant cultivars is an effective control to reduce the loss of yield caused by virus’s infections. The objective of this study is to detect the resistant characters of CMV in chili using OPH-17 and OPA-20 RAPD primers. The inoculation of CMV in PSPT-C11, C17-PSPT, ICPN 7 # 3 and 1 Chilibangi 1 varieties cause systemic mosaic symptoms vary from mild mosaic to the mosaics with malformations. PSPT-C11 varietiy showed rather resistant, while the varieties PSPT-C17 and Chilibangi 1 are susceptible, and ICPN 7 # 3 is very susceptible. OPH-17 and OPA-20 primers could not be used to determine the resistance differences against CMV in PSPT-C11, C17-PSPT, ICPN 7 # 3 and Chilibangi 1 varieties.

Abstract

The purpose of the research was to know the characteristics and classification of soil on dry land at Tista village, Buleleng Regency. Soil survey methods and analysis in laboratory were used in this research. Some parameters of soil properties were observed i.e. soil morphology in the field, physical, chemical, and mineralogical soil properties in the laboratory. Soil classification based on Soil Taxonomy system by using Keys to Soil Taxonomy (2003). The soil characteristic on Dusun Tista, Tista village are: solum depth is deep; clay loam texture and c-organic are high; CEC is high; base saturation is high. The soil characteristic on Dusun Sepang Kelod, Tista village are: solum depth is deep; loam texture and c-organic are high; CEC is high; base saturation is high; and Al + ½ Fe is high. There were two soil families in Tista villages, namely: Andic hapludepts, fine loamy, mixed, isohyperthermic, and Typic hapludepts, fine loamy, mixed, isohyperthermic.
