Abstract

The study on mixing code headlines Bali Orti Bali Post aimed to describe the forms of code mixing, code mixing characteristics, as well as the factors that cause code mixing. This study took a sample of the data for the first of five years of the publication of Bali Orti in the year 2006-2011. The theory used is the sociolinguistic theory proposed by Jendra and Nababan, which refers to the concepts associated with code mixing. Methods and techniques used in this study were divided into three stages namely, 1) the stage of providing data using methods refer assisted with technical notes, 2) data analysis stage using methods agih aided by using techniques for direct elements, 3) stage presentation of the results of data analysis used informal methods aided by deductive and inductive techniques.The results obtained in this study are code mixing forms of governance seen level linguistic device that is tangible words and phrases. In the words found in the base word and derived word (having affixation, reduplication, and compound words). Various mixed origin code based on three kinds of absorption is inner code mixing, outer code mixing which is derived from English and Latin, and hybrid code mixing which is derived from the mixing Indonesian and English. The characteristics of code mixing is 1) code mixing event is not required by the situation and the context of the discussion, but rather depends on the speakers (language functions), 2) the code mixing occurs because of your relaxation and habit, 3) code mixing occurs at the level of the lowest form of words and highest form of clauses, 4) language elements that insert into the Balinese language no longer supports language function independently but are united by language inserted.Factors causing mixed on the news headlines Bali Orti Bali Post motivated by two factors, namely factors language speakers and the media factors.

Abstract

Jurnal ini berjudul “Figurative Language Analysis in Hardy’s Poems “Ah, Are You diggingOn My Grave” and “The Man He Killed” yang bertujuan mencari tipe-tipe bahasa figuratifberikut dengan arti. Data diambil dari puisi berjudul “Ah, Are You dIgging On My Grave” and“The Man He Killed” yang diambil dari karya puisi Thomas Hardy.Metode dan teknik pengambilan data terdiri dari dua tahap. Pertama, data di ambil dariteks puisi dengan membaca seluruh teks dengan baik. Setelah itu, mencari bahasa figuratif apasaja yang ada, tahap ini diikuti dengan mencatat dari data yang di ambil untuk menentukantipe-tipe bahasa figuratif dan data dipilih berdasarkan dari masalah-masalah yang siapdicantumkan dalam jurnal ini. Teori utama jurnal ini dipakai untuk menganalisa data yangdiambil dari buku karya Thomas Hardy (1912), Knickerbocker dan Reninger(1963) untukmenganalisa tema, dan Geoffrey Leech(1974) untuk menganalisa arti konotasi.Hasil dari jurnal ini menunjukkan enam figure of speech yg didapat dari tiap-tiap puisi,yaitu Irony, Synecdoche, Hyperbole, Metonymy and Personification. Dan juga arti konotasiyang terdiri dalam tiap puisi. Kesimpulan dari jurnal ini adala Puisi karya Thomas Hardysangat penting untuk dibaca. Penulis menulis karyanya ke pembaca untuk menjelaskan objekdalam tiap-tiap puisi dengan memakai imajinasi lewat bahasa-bahasa figuratif.

Abstract

Psychological conflict is psychological situation when someone experienced two or moremotives that contradicted one with another. Psychological conflict can be found insituation where need, hope, wish, and aim are different and contradicted each other atthe same time and caused unpleasant feeling. Psychological conflict can also be found inmanga, one of them is in Subaru. The psychological conflict in this manga were analyzedbased on theory of psychoanalytic and supported with theory of semiotic and theory ofdrawing a comic. The result shows that there are five forms of psychological conflictsthat Subaru have experience such as feeling guilty over the death of Kazuma, confusion ofchoosing between ballet or education, Subaru vacillation when perfoming on stage forthe first time, feeling guilty over the death of Izusu aunt, and Subaru vacillation betweenback to Japan or leave Japan. The efforts of Subaru to overcome his psychologicalconflicts are making Kazuma death as a motivation to continue ballet, decided to live asballerina, convincing herself to be brave to dance on stage, motivated herself to winLausanne contest after the Izusu death, and decided to leave Japan.

Abstract

This study examines the literature of modern Balinese which has formnarative text of a short story. This study which containts six short storiesincollection of short story text Layu Satonden Kembang, namely: Layu SatondenKembang, Nyesel Tan Mawiguna, Dayu Sari, Tresna Kapialang, Tresnane TanKatutugang, andWates Wangsa. The purpose of this study is describe thestructure, functions, and meaning which contained in the text collections of sixstories in Layu Satonden Kembang.This study was used structural theory by Teeuw, semiotic theory bySaussure, and supporting by reception theory. Method and technique was used inthis study devided into three steps such as: (1) collecting data was used method ofreading and supporting by translation, (2) the analysing data was used qualitativemethod and analytic descriptive technique, and (3) conclusions the analysis ofinformal method by diagram technique and support by inductive-deductiveknowledge.The conclusions of this study were found intrinsict structure in six shortstories text which namely: plot, setting, actor and character, meaning, andmessage in story. Therefore this study also describing of functions of in six shortstories in collection short story text Layu Satonden Kembang for givingknowledge for societies in order to get experiences and learning goodness forthrough a good life and avoid unsuccesfully. Therefore that meaning is protectsocieties life.

Abstract

This study is concerned with the characteristic of shipwrecked in Java seanorthern part of Cirebon, particularly about the identification and the finding ofthe ship therefore the origin could be traced. The characteristic of the ship beinganalyzed among others are : the flank, keel, and the technique of the ship making.The analysis of the findings concerns with ceramics and some metal stuffs. Thisstudy is aimed to be a reference for another related study or be an additionalknowledge.

Abstract

Research "Discourse Mersun, Majuug, and Matelisi in prose Mersun" aims to identify and understand the social aspects contained in the Short Story Mersun, Majuug, and Matelisi. Theoretical basis used is sociological theory based on the opinion of literary Wellek and Warren. Methods and techniques used in this study consists of three phases namely, (1) Stage provision of data using methods refer to the techniques and methods capable of translation and recording. (2) Phase analysis of the data using qualitative methods and descriptive analytic techniques. (3) Stage presentation of the results of data analysis using informal methods and inductive deductive techniques. The results achieved in this study reveal the social aspects of the Short Story Mersun, Majuug, and Matelisi which include: ethical aspects, educational aspects, economic aspects, aspects of loyalty, and aspects of mutual cooperation.

Abstract

Studi ini berjudul “The Types of Idiom and Their Meaning in Maroon 5’sHands All Over Album”. Data dari studi ini diambil dari album Maroon 5 yangberjudul “hands All Over”. Studi ini menganalisis dan menentukan jenis-jenisidiom beserta makna dari masing-masing idiom tersebut. Pemilihan studi tentangidiom ini didasarkan karena penentuan makna dari tiap ungkapan tidak bisahanya mengartikan ungkapan tersebut secara harfiah, melainkan membutuhkanpenalaran makna secara menyeluruh dari isi lagu tersebut. Ada dua teori yangdigunakan dalam studi ini, yakni teori jenis-jenis ungkapan oleh Palmer yangdiambil dari ‘Semantic: a New Outline” (1976) dan juga teori makna oleh Leech,Meaning and English Verb (1985). Ditemukan 2 jenis idiom di dalam album yangtelah di analisis, mereka adalah prepositional verb dan partial idiom, sedangkanjenis makna yang ditemukan hanya conceptual meaning, affective meaning danconnotative meaning.

Abstract

Tulisan ini berjudul The English Conjunctions Of Polotical Articles In The Jakarta Post. Tujuan dari pada penelitian ini adalah untuk mengamati dan menganalisis jenis kata sambung yang digunakan dalam koran harian politik, The Jakarta Post, dan bagaimana penggunaan kata sambung tersebut. Data yang digunakan untuk penulisan ini diambil dari dua belas artikel dari The Jakarta Post yang diterbitkan pada Selasa 23 Juni 2009 sampai Jumat 26 Juni 2009. Kemudian data penelitian ini dikumpulkan. Menurut Brown dan Rodgers (2002:6 ), data dalam makalah ini dianalisis dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif yang mengacu pada metode di mana data dianalisis dan cara alami tanpa manipulasi apapun. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini didasarkan pada konteks situasi oleh Halliday M AK dan Hasan dalam buku mereka yang berjudul Bahasa, Konteks dan Teks; Aspek Bahasa dalam Perspektif Sosial-semiotik. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan jenis konjungsi yang digunakan dan bagaimana penggunaan kata sambung itu sendiri.

Abstract

Studi ini berjudul “The Analysis of Figurative Language in Song LyricsFrom #3 Album By The Script”. Data dari studi ini diambil dari lima lagu yangberasal dari Album ke 3 grup band The Script yang berjudul #3. Studi inimembahas dan menganalisis bahasa figurative yang terdapat pada lagu-lagutersebut dan juga hubungan antara bahasa tersebut dengan tema dari setiap lagu.Lagu-lagu tersebut dipilih karena mereka merupakan lagu-lagu tersukses didalam album. Lagu-lagu tersebut adalah Six Degrees of Separation, Hall ofFame, If You Could See Me Now, Glowing and Millionaires. Ada dua teori yangdigunakan dalam studi ini, teori bahasa figurative pleh Larson (1998) dan jugateori tema oleh Sybille (1985). Ditemukan 6 jenis bahasa figuratif di dalam 5 laguyang telah di analisis, mereka adalah metonimi, sinekdok, idiom, hiperbola,metapora dan simile dan ke enam bahasa figurative tersebut menekankan temadari setiap lagu, dengan kata lain, bahasa figurative memberikan kekuatan padatema.
