Abstract

This research relies on the sociological analysis point of view that literacy is a social and cultural document. The main focuses of analysis are: first is the structure of the novel especially related to the intrinsic structure and the relation between structure to build a coherent story. Secondly, this research focuses on the sociological aspect of the novel which can be categorized into social, moral, cultural and economical aspects. This research adopts structural and sociological theories of literacy. Structural theory is used to analyze the intrinsic structure of the novel and the relation between those structures while sociological theory is used to explain the sociological aspect of the novel. This research relies on Umar Junus’s (1986) sociological theory of literacy which argues that literacy is part of a social and cultural document. The research reveals that the theme of this novel is about the struggle and love sacrifices of Keke, a geisha in Surabaya between 1920 until 1983, plotted in a forward progressive plot. There are four sociological aspects of the novel. Firstly is the social aspect which explore the sociological setting of geisha life in Shinju, Surabaya. Secondly is the moral aspect, dominated by Keke as the main character as geisha which seen by society similar to prostitute and received negative stereotypes. Thirdly is the cultural aspect focuses on Keke’s cultural transformation and acculturation processes to become a geisha. Lastly, economical aspect that separate society into three economical classes: the upper class, the middle class, and lower class.

Abstract

Studi ini membahas tentang tipe-tipe tindak tutur dalam film yang berjudul “Paranorman” berdasarkan dimensi langsung-tidak langsung serta dimensi literal-nonliteral. Tipe-tipe tindak tutur yang muncul dalam film tersebut diklasifikasikan dan dianalisis dengan teori tindak tutur yang dikemukakan oleh Parker (1986). Selain itu, beberapa teori lain juga digunakan untuk memperkuat analisis, antara lain: teori komponen tindak tutur oleh Austin (1962) dan teori kata kerja ilokusi oleh Leech (1983). Hasil studi menunjukkan, dari empat tipe tindak tutur yang diajukan oleh Parker, keeempat tipe dapat ditemukan, yaitu tindak tutur literal langsung, literal tidak langsung, nonliteral langsung, dan nonliteral tidak langsung. Tipe-tipe tindak tutur yang muncul tersebut dapat dikelompokkan dalam kategori “assertive”, “directive”, “Commisive, “Expressive”, dan “Rogative”

Abstract

Tutur Bhuwana Kosa is one of the oldest manuscript belonging to the group Wariga based calcification gedong Kirtya. A study of literature manifold said still a little done, therefore the subject of an interesting manuscript said to use the research object. Research on script  Tutur Bhuwana Kosa studied in terms of semiotics. But before examined in terms of semiotics first be analyzed in terms of structure. Analysis in terms of the structure aims to determine the structure of the build script oracle Tutur Bhuwana Kosa while semiotic analysis aims to analyze the meaning contained in the Tutur Bhuwana Kosa. Indirectly, this study may provide information to the public regarding the content Tutur Bhuwana Kosa. At the stage of data collection method used is the method of literature study and assisted interviewing method of recording and recording techniques. Phase of data analysis used descriptive analytic method. In presenting the results of the analysis used formal and informal methods, namely the presentation by using the symbol or symbols when needed and using ordinary words. Said structural analysis Tutur Bhuwana Kosa composed of Brahma Jnana Rahasyam and Rahasyam. Rahasyam Brahma is the first part contained in Tutur Bhuwana Kosa  that contains the properties contained in patalah Shiva patalah I to V while Brahmarahasyam a final section that describes the deliverance teachings contained in patalah patalah VI to XI. Analysis of the meaning of the oracle Tutur Bhuwana Kosa  consists of Shiva in Tutur Bhuwana Kosa , Law of Karma and Reincarnation and Deliverance.

Abstract

Artikel ini memfokuskan pada analisis terhadap kemampuan karakter utama dalam berbahasa lisan berdasarkan teori psikolinguistik. Penyimpangan bahasa merupakan suatu gangguan yang mempengaruhi proses informasi linguistik. Hal ini dapat dideteksi ketika perkembangan bahasa seseorang terganggu tanpa alasan yang spesifik. Secara umum, indikasi awal terhadap penyimpangan bahasa adalah ia akan lebih lambat berbicara dari biasanya (terbata-bata) dan kurang mampu dalam merangkai kata-kata menjadi kalimat. Beberapa film menggunakan karakter ini untuk mengedukasi masyarakat terhada kehidupan seseorang dengan penyimpangan berbahasa. Black Swan adalah salah satu dari sekian film. Dalam film ini pemeran utamanya menderita schizoprenia yang menyebabkan kegagalan perkembangan secara mental dan berbicara yang disebabkan oleh halusinasinya.

Abstract

At the time of ancient Bali between the 9th to 12th centuries AD, it was mentioned of the term “hermitage” in the inscription. Hermitage became a very important thing in people's lives in the past so that hermitage was cited in several inscriptions of the period. The issues discussed in this study arewhat the physical forms of hermitage found to date in Bali as well as the function of the hermitage building in the past and how the role of the hermitage people based on the inscriptions of ancient Bali of the 9th to 12th centuries AD. Thepurpose of this study are to reconstruction religious of the ancient Bali community from hermitage building and to answerthe problems of the research. This study is a qualitative research, namely research that promotes the quality of the data and analyzed in order to reach the target depth, descriptive research results presented in the form of words and language. The results of this research are the form of hermitage found in Bali in general is in the form of cave and niche hermitages. The cave hermitages are located in Goa Gajah and Goa Patinggi. While the niche-shaped hermitage were found at Temple of Tebing Gunung Kawi, Temple of Kerobokan, Tebing Tegallinggah Temple, Goa Garbha, Kelebutan Temple, Temple of Jukut Paku, Relief of Bebitera, Relief of Yeh Pulu, and in Pura Telaga Waja. The function of building the hermitageis a religious holy building to perform religious ceremonies or to meditate, the abode of the hermit as well as a dormitory for the teaching and learning process. the servants on duty at the Hermitage area during ancient Bali of IX-XII centuries AD mentioned in inscriptions as samgat wilang patapan dan samgat tapa haji.
