Abstract

Penelitian ini ditujukan untuk menguji kandungan E. coli dan cemaran total bakteri daging sapi bagian punggung, daging bagian paha, usus, hati, limfa dan paru di Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) di Kota Denpasar dan kabupaten Badung, Bali. Hasil kandungan E. coli yang diperoleh dari Rumah Potong Hewan (RPH) Pesanggaran pada sampel paha sebesar 70 APM/100g dan RPH Mambal pada sampel usus sebesar 70 APM/100g. Sampel limfa dari kedua RPH memiliki nilai yang paling rendah yaitu 30 APM/100g. Nilai yang telah dijabarkan dapat dikatakan melebihi ambang batas yang diperbolehkan oleh BPOM (2009) yaitu batas maksimum cemaran E. coli 1 x 101 APM/100g. Hasil penelitian total bakteri yang diperoleh dari sampel yang diambil di RPH Pesanggaran pada sampel limfa menunujukkan hasil yang paling besar yaitu 14x104 CFU/g, sedangkan nilai yang terkecil berasal dari sampel usus yaitu 2x104 CFU/g. Hasil total bakteri yang berasal dari RPH Mambal nilai sampel yang terbesar dimiliki oleh sampel limfa sebesar 13x104 CFU/g, sedangkan nilai hasil terkecil dimiliki oleh sampel paha 1x104 CFU/g diperbolehkan BPOM (2009) yaitu 1x104 CFU/g. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini menunjukkan sampel daging paha, daging punggung, usus, hati, paru dan limfa memiliki nilai total cemaran E. coli dan cemaran bakteri yang melebihi batas standar yang diperbolehkan oleh BPOM Bali.

Abstract

Human-elephant conflict is one of main issues in wildlife conservation. The trigger of human-elephant conflict is forest convertion in Tesso Nilo National Park. A study about characteristic of human elephant conflict has been conducted from March until April 2016 in some area of the park including Lubuk Kembang Bunga and Air Hitam villages, Riau Province, Indonesia. This study aimed to describe the characteristics of dispute area have been and land use in the park. A survey and interview have been conducted to 30 local inhibitans. Lubuk Kembang Bunga and Air hitam villageswere located near by the elephant forest habitat (0-10 km) with elevation 0f 200-100 m above the sea level. The area mostly flat and close to rivers. The elephant attack palm oil and rubber plantation. Historical change of land use at Tesso Nilo National Park from 2004 to 2016 has proved to damaged the elephant habitat, while the elephants come to the plantation where they had ranged in the past time.

Abstract

Estimation of the plantain squirrel (Callosciurus notatus Boddaert, 1785) population was conducted from Februari to May 2016. This study aimed to estimate population density in the traditional coconut plantation, Nagari Koto Dalam, Padang Pariaman. The population density was estimated using line transect survey method. Population density of the squirrels in Nagari Koto Dalam was 5.5 ind/ha. This study shows that population density of the squirrel comparable to previous studies in West Sumatra.

Abstract

Kerang merupakan salah satu sumberdaya laut di Pulau Serangan yang telah lama dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat sebagai sumber bahan pangan bergizi dan bernilai ekonomis. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) pada kerang yang dimanfaatkan oleh masyarakat di kawasan perairan Serangan. Sampel kerang diperoleh dari hasil tangkapan masyarakat di tiga lokasi dan tempat pengumpul kerang. Metode yang digunakan adalah preparasi pengabuan basah dan dianalisis dengan alat ICPE (Inductedvely coupled plasma emission). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kandungan logam berat timbal (Pb) pada kerang bernilai ekonomi (Marcia opima, Marcia hiantina, Perna sp.) yang ditangkap oleh nelayan melebihi ambang batas BPOM (2,093 - 2,571 mg/kg). Namun proses pendedahan dengan perendaman 24 jam menurunkan kandungan timbal (Pb) di bawah ambang batas (0,387 - 0,971 mg/kg).

Abstract

Taxonomical study about the ephiphytic ferns on conservation forest Soemitro Djojohadikusumo PT. Tidar Kerinci Agung (TKA) West Sumatera was conducted from May to July 2016 used survey and observation method, and then the samples were processed and identified at Herbarium ANDA, Biology Department. The result of this study have found nine species, six genera family Polypodiaceae of ephiphytic ferns. Each species could be distinguished by some specific morphological characters such as rhizome, frond, stipes, sorus and spora.

Abstract

The Lesser Sulphur-crested cockatoos (Cacatua sulphurea) are among the most endangered parrots in Eastern Indonesia. This bird was common species, but since 30 years ago, it was apparent that the decline of the species had been ‘dramatic’ and that it was ‘threatened throughout its range. The best chance to conserve the nominate race lines in Southeast Sulawesi where there is a population of perhaps 50-100 individuals remaining in Rawa Aopa Watumohai National Park [RAWNP]. Direct visualization could be carried out, employing a belt transect and point count method to construct a census. The field research on February until March 2011, founded 55 cockatoos from10 points of all 19 points different survey locations. The research method using scan sampling per 3 menit durations with recorded about 1110 points from 12 days of behavior observations. The daily activities result are: resting 68,9%; moving 21,1%; and eating 10%. On breeding process its begin from grooming or courtship 9 menits and mating 83 seconds. Cockatoos eating proportion: fruits 64,3%; flowers 14,3%; young leafs 14,3% and seeds 7,1%. The research founded eight nestholes trees, from Kolaka Parinarium carymbosum and Kuiya Alatonia scholaris. The cockatoo daily activites and habitat conditions are based data for supporting conservation habitat management in the future.

Abstract

This research aimed to investigate the food preference of the Papilio memnon L. larvae on two host plants. This study was conducted by two choice food preference test combination of leaves Citrus aurantifolia Chrism. and Citrus hystrix DC. The result of this study showed that the third instar of P. memnon L. larva significant preferential feeding (P<0.05), while the fourth and fifth instar shown that no significant feeding preference beetwen host plants. Nitrogen and water content of leaves were higher on C. aurantifolia (0.212 % and 70.368%) than C. hystrix (0.04% dan 64.027%). While carbohydrate content was higher on C. hystrix (22.167%) than C.aurantifolia (31.097%).

Abstract

A study about “intestine histology structure of Silver Sharkminnow (Osteochilus hasseltii C.V) in Singkarak Lake, West Sumatera” has been done at Animal Structure and Developmental Laboratory, Department of Biology, Mathematic and Science Faculty, Andalas University, Padang. This study used an observational method to microscopically examine the histology of intestinal asang fish (Osteochilus hasseltii C.V.) directly at four locations in Lake Singkarak, namely Sumani, Paninggahan, Sumpur, Ombilin using purposive sampling method.. Histolgical samples of intestine were isolated, fixated, dehydrated and embedded on paraffin, stained using Haematoxylin-Eosin and observation using microscope. The results showed some histological alteration of gastrc and intestine samples in each location. Those alteration varied from edema , vili erotion, hemorrhage, lysis and necrosis.

Abstract

Studi perilaku dan analisis status darah celepuk jawa (Otus angelinae) dengan pemberian serbuk kunyit merupakan langkah awal dalam usaha penangkaran. Empat ekor Otus angelinae betina dan 4 ekor jantan dengan bobot 9 g. Otus angelinae, masing-masing dibagi dalam 4 kelompok, yaitu kelompok K0: Otus angelinae betina kontrol, K1: : Otus angelinae jantan kontrol, P0 : Otus angelinae betina yang diberi suplemen serbuk kunyit 108 mg/ekor/ hari yang dicampur dalam pakan, P1 : Otus angelinae jantan yang diberi suplemen serbuk kunyit 108 mg/ekor/ hari yang dicampur dalam pakan Diamati perilaku dan kondisi fisiologis dengan menganalisis komponen kimia darah yaitu kadar hemoglobin, jumlah eritrosit, jumlah leukosit, pH darah, deferensial leukosit meliputi jumlah sel neutrofil, eosinofil, basofil, limfosit dan monosit, kadar kolesterol LDL,HDL, trigliserida, glukosa darah, SGPT,SGOT yang diambil pada akhir perlakuan. Dilakukan analisis deskriptif terhadap perilaku dan kondisi fisilogis Otus angelinae. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan pemberian suplemen serbuk kunyit tidak mempengaruhi perilaku celepuk jawa. Perbedaan perilaku terjadi pada siang dan malam hari selama dalam kandang. Perilaku siang hari: banyak istirahat, tidak nafsu makan, sangat waspada terhadap gangguan, sedangkan perilaku pada malam hari sangat agresif, makan lebih aktif. Pemberian serbuk kunyit dapat mempertahankan status fsiologis normal Otus angelinae jantan maupun betina.

Abstract

Experiment has been done on the effect of heat exposure on the percentage of dead sperm and pyriform cell in male NZW rabbit. The bucks were exposed to 34°C for 8 hours on either 1 or 5 days. It was found that scrotal temperature (ScT) increased very rapidly during the first hour of exposure by 4°C in group 1 (1x8h). In group 2 (5x8h of exposure) ScT differed significantly between days (P < 0.05). The bigest response was on day 1 (36.6°C) and followed a progressive reduction, day by day, in an apparent acclimation pattern. At different times of exposure, ScT was observed to rise rapidly during the first hour (by 14 percent or 4.4°C). In the 1x8h treatment dead sperm achieved a maximum level of 14.5 ± 4.7 percent in the first week after hotroom treatment. In week 2, the percentage dead sperm started to decline. When rabbits were exposed to 5x8h, this group was more severely affected than the 1x8h. In week 1, the percentage dead sperm in the 5x8h group was 2.1 fold greater than in the 1x8h group (31.0 vs 14.5 percent). Recovery in the 5x8h group took longer than in the 1x8h group, and the percentage dead sperm finally returned to normal levels only after 7 weeks, compared to 5 weeks after 1x8h treatment.Between weeks, the incidence of pyriforms did differ significantly (P < 0.05). In the 1x8h treatment, the percentage pyriforms increased in the first week after hotroom exposure by 3.8 percent. In week 2, the percentage pyriform started to decline and continued to do so gradually until week 6. In the 5x8h treatment, the number of pyriforms was higher than it was in 1x8h treatment. In week 1, for example, the percentage pyriform was 16 percent higher than in 1x8h treatment group. Hence, the mean pyriform cell count was 1.6 times higher in the 5x8h compared to the 1x8h group.
