Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan unuk melihat gambaran histologi arteri dorsal penis tikus wistar (Rattus novergicus) yang dibuat hiperlipidemia dengan induksi pakan tinggi lemak yang dilihat dari segi diameter lumen serta ketebalan dinding endotelium arteri. Hiperlipidemia merupakan faktor resiko ateriosklerosis pada arteri penis penyebab disfungsi ereksi pada pria. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan randomized posttest only control goup design. Sampel tikus wistar jantan dewasa umur 3-4 bulan dengan kisaran berat badan 150 - 200 gram, berjumlah 10 ekor. Sebelum perlakuan, dilakukan adaptasi selama 7 hari. Setelah itu tikus sampel pada kelompok perlakuan dibuat hiperlidemia dengan diberi lemak babi selama 50 hari. Kemudian dilakukan pembedahan untuk preparat histopatologi pada posttest. Untuk mengetahui perbedaan ketebalan endotelium dan diameter lumen arteri pada kedua kelompok maka digunakan uji independent t-test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa diameter lumen dan tebal endotelium arteri dorsal penis tikus wistar antara kelompok perlakuan lebih rendah dengan kelompok kontrol. Perbedaan yang terjadi bermakna secara statistik (p<0,05). Jadi dapat disimpulkan bahwa pemberian makanan tinggi lemak (hiperlipidemia) menurunkan diameter lumen serta ketebalan endotelium arteri dorsal penis. Abstract

Carbapenem Resistant Enterobacteriaceae (CRE) is a group of Enterobacteriaceae resistant to Carbapenem antibiotics (Imipenem, Ertapenem, Meropenem, Doripenem). One species of Enterobacteriaceae frequently showing resistant characteristic to Carbapenem is Klebsiella pneumoniae. Early detection methods on the CRE existence (phenotypically or genetically) are urgently needed. The methods should be able to detect carbapenemases or genes encoding these types of enzymes. In the recent years, phenotypic characteristics can be done by applying methods, such as Modified Hodge Test (MHT), Carba Nordmann-Poirel (Carba NP), or Modified Carbapenem Inactivation Method (MCIM). To detect the presence of genes encoding production of carbapenemases, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is the most reliable method available in the recent years. Abstract

Begonia bimaensis Undaharta & Ardaka adalah salah satu Begonia yang dikembangkan di Kebun Raya ‘Eka Karya’ Bali. Jenis ini merupakan spesies endemik yang ditemukan di Gunung Muria di Kabupaten Bima, Pulau Sumbawa. Begonia bimaensis memiliki rambut putih yang tumbuh pada permukaan atas daunnya. Perbanyakan tanaman B. bimaensis perlu dilakukan dengan teknik kultur jaringan karena terbatasnya tanaman dan untuk menjaga kelestarianya. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui teknik sterilisasi yang tepat untuk inisiasi eksplan daun B. bimaensis dan mengetahui kombinasi ZPT kinetin dan 2,4-D yang paling efektif serta pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan kultur B .bimaensis. Penelitian ini menggunakan media dasar MS (Murashige dan Skoog) dengan penambahan kombinasi ZPT kinetin (0 ppm, 1 ppm, dan 2 ppm) dan 2,4- D (0 ppm, 0,5 ppm, dan 1 ppm). Percobaan terdiri dari 9 perlakuan yang setiap perlakuan terdiri dari 3 ulangan dengan tiap ulangan terdiri dari 1 botol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa teknik sterilisasi yang tepat yaitu menggunakan kombinasi sterilan yang berbeda (sabun Sunlight, fungisida, pemutih Bayclin, dan alkohol) dan waktu perendaman menggunakan fungisida selama 30 menit. Pemberian ZPT kinetin dan 2,4-D terhadap B. bimaensis mengakibatkan pertumbuhan yang lebih cepat. Pengaruh paling tinggi terhadap pertubuhan kultur B. bimaensis diperoleh pada hari ke-12 setelah tanam dengan pemberian kinetin 2 ppm dan 2,4-D 0,5 ppm. Kata kunci: in vitro, Begonia, 2,4-D, kinetin

Abstract

The main objective of this research was to investigate the potential of Lactic Acid Bacterial isolates and their supernatants, isolated from yoghurt and kefir, to control the growth of A. flavus FNCC6109 in chicken feed concentrate. The experiments were conducted both In vitro and directly applied to chicken feed concentrate. The results showed that two Lactic Acid Bacterial were successfully isolated, identified and both showed initial potential to be developed as biocontrol of A. flavus FNCC6109. Only one best isolate (isolate I) was used in the further investigation. Percentage of growth reduction of A. flavus FNCC6109 in the chicken feed concentrate treated with 30%(v/v) of Lactobacillus sp. supernatant was 72% lower than control (chicken feed concentrate without addition of Lactobacillus sp. Abstract

Masyarakat Bali pada umumnya memiliki pemahaman tentang budaya yang berdasarkan tradisi yang diwarisi oleh para leluhur. Kawasan hutan Bedugul Bali termasuk kawasan hulu yang perlu dijaga kesuciannya. Konsep Suci pada masyarakat di Bali biasanya dikait-kaitkan dengan pura dan kawasan hulu. Sedangkan sakral atau keramat biasanya dikaitkan dengah roh sebagai penguni pohon. Berdasarkan nilai frekuensi relatif Jenis dari informasi masyarakat, pohon yang di sakralkan oleh masyarakat tercatat ada 6 jenis. Jenis yang paling di sakralkan adalah pohon Ficus bejamina (FRj. 32%). konsep suci atau sakral menjadi perlindungannya. Tradisi menancapkan cabang pohon pada pangkal pohon bekas tebangannya yang disebut pohon penanggeh merupakan wujud suatu “janji” untuk menanam kembali. Pelaksanaan upacara menjadikan amanat untuk pemanfaatannya yang berkesinambungan. Konsepsi seni seperti pentas tarian topeng, bodres, wayang kulit dan cerita taru pramana merupakan media pendidikan konservasi tumbuhan yang strategis di Bali. Abstract

Eugenia uniflora L. is a medical plant that can be used as a medicine for diarrhea. Exploration of antibacterial compounds from natural material can resolve various diseases that do not give effects of resistance such as the use of antibiotics. Research purposes are to know the potential of dewandaru leaf extract as an agent bacteria control of Bacillus cereus ATCC 11778 that causes diarrhea and to determine the active compounds contained in dewandaru leaf extract. The method used in this study was a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 7 treatments for the concentration of the dewandaru leaf extract of 1%, 2%, 3%, 4%, 5% (b/v), positive control (amoxicillin), and negative control (ethanol). Determination of inhibition of dewandaru leaf extract againts B. cereus ATCC 11778 is characterized by the formation of the clear zone around paper discs using the Kirby-Bauer method. The results showed that dewandaru leaf extract at the highest concentration (5%) was able to produce inhibition zone diameter of 7.15 mm against B. cereus ATCC 11778. Phytochemical test results showed ethanol extract dewandaru leaf contain tannin, saponin, terpenoid, and flavonoid as active compounds. GCMS analysis of the active fraction of dewandaru leaf extract (Fraction II) produced ten antibacterial compounds. The conclusion of this study, ethanol extract of dewandaru leaf was able to inhibit the growth of B. cereus ATCC 11778 in vitro. Concentration dewandaru leaf extract 1% is a minimal concentration as an antibacterial againts B. cereus ATCC 11778. GCMS analysis of dewandaru leaf extract consists of 10 antibacterial compounds such as Dodecanoic acid, Tridecanoic acid, Hexadecanoic acid, Octadecanoid acid, 8-Nitro-11-dodecanolide, Oxiraneoctanoic acid, Oxiraneoctanoic acid, 9-Octadecenoic acid, 9-Octadecenoic acid, and 1.2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek neuroprotektif ekstrak daun pepaya (Carica papaya L.) terhadap sel piramidal di hipokampus dan korteks serebri mencit (Mus musculus L.) yang diinduksi Trimetiltin serta untuk mengetahui dosis optimum ekstrak daun pepaya yang bersifat neuroprotektif. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan lima perlakuan yang terdiri dari K+ (hanya diinduksi TMT dosis 0,6 mg/kgBB), K- (hanya diberikan Na-CMC 0,5%), P1 (diinduksi TMT dan diberi ekstrak daun pepaya dosis 500 mg/kgBB), P2 (diinduksi TMT dan diberi ekstrak daun pepaya dosis 1000 mg/kgBB), P3 (diinduksi TMT dan diberi ekstrak daun pepaya dosis 2000 mg/kgBB). Parameter yang diamati adalah nekrosis sel piramidal dan persentase kerusakan sel piramidal pada hipokampus dan korteks serebri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadi penurunan persentase kerusakan sel piramidal di hipokampus pada P1 sebesar 26,46%, P2 sebesar 28,91%, dan P3 sebesar 26,67%. Persentase kerusakan sel piramidal di korteks serebri mengalami penurunan pada P1 sebesar 9,62%, P2 sebesar 11,14%, dan P3 sebesar 14,88%. Dosis optimum ekstrak daun pepaya yang bersifat neuroprotektif adalah dosis 2000 mg/kgBB (P3). Kata kunci: daun pepaya, TMT, neuroprotektif, nekrosis, hipokampus

Abstract

Sandalwood (Santalum album L.) is a endemic spesies of the Lesser Sunda Island (NTT), grows in deciduous forest or in private traditional plantation for centuries. Study aimed to evaluated profile dynamic structure population of sandalwood in forest and plantation in the district of South Central Timor (TTS) and North Central Timor (TTU). Population structure analysis was held by purposive sampling in eight sites comprised 87 plots. Plots size were 20x20 m2 (trees), 10x10 m2 (poles), 5x5 m2 (saplings), 2x2 m2 (seedlings). Variables observed in each plot were included density, stem diameter, height of free trunk (TBBC), height trees and saplings, crown quality and coverage. Data were analyzed by qualitative descriptively and multivariate statistics. Results showed that population structure of sandalwood varied spatially in all study sites in two district, especially density of seedlings and saplings in plantations and forests. Sandalwood trees density ranges from 0-23 ind.ha-1, poles phase 80-322 ind.ha-1, saplings phase 60-1,289 ind.ha-1, while the seedlings phase is very dominant 2,000-27,813 ind.ha-1. Higher saplings and poles density were found in two sites of TTU plantation and forest or a TTS forest. Farmer in two districts successfully cultivated sandalwood in plantation shown by similar growth quality with those of forest trees. Abstract

This research was aimed to obtain the kind of proper natural food and the optimum dose of feeding in order to support the rearing of banggai cardinal fish breeding. This research used completely randomized design and was conducted during September to December 2016. The kinds of natural food examined were trash fish, abalone (Haliotis glabra), and squid (Loligo pealei). After we found the most preferable food, the examination upon its dose was conducted under 10%, 20% and 30% of the fish weight. The 45 fish sampel have average length and weight of 3 cm and 0,47 g, respectively. Fish were reared in aquarium 95 cm x 45 cm x 35 cm. The foods were given three times a day. The research results show that abalone was mostly consumed compared to other two foods about 0,11 g/fish a day. The result of examining dose showed that the highest rate of fish growth was found under the dose of 30% which resulted 2,07 cm in length, 0,34 g in weight and the dose of 20% which resulted 2,07 cm in length, 0,33 g in weight. The statistical test result showed that the treatment under the dose of 30% and 20% was not significantly different (P>0,05). Base on this study, it can be concluded that abalone is the proper natural food that supports the rearing of banggai cardinal fish with optimum dose of 20 % of fish weight per day.
