Abstract

One of the complications that occur due to diabetes mellitus (DM) is Diabetic Foot Ulcer (UKD). UKD is an incidence of injuries that occur on the feet of people with diabetes due to complications of microangiopathy and macroangiopathy which can cause disability and even death. This study aims to identify and document traditional medicine used by traditional healers in Bali to treat UKD. This research was conducted using a comparative qualitative descriptive method that compares the data obtained from in-depth interviews and questionnaires filling with literature. Data collection was carried out by in-depth interviews with BATTRA in Bali as informants who have competence in the field of traditional UKD medicine. Determination of informants in this study using snowball sampling technique. The results of the research were carried out from the data obtained by 8 (eight) sources and obtained 10 ingredients, consisting of 6 (six) ingredients used topically and 4 (four) ingredients used orally. The main ingredient used in topical ingredients is honey. Of the 10 ingredients, there are 15 types of medicinal plants used for the treatment of UKD. Most of the medicinal plants used are aloe vera, garlic, pepper, onion and sandalwood.

Abstract

Inflammation is the body's natural reaction to protect itself from pathogens that cause disease. Interleukin-6 (IL-6) acts as a pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokine released by T cells and macrophages to stimulate an immune response when an infection occurs. In this study, an in silico study of the ethanolic extract of kenikir (Cosmos caudatus) leaves as an anti-inflammatory based on its affinity for Interleukin-6 (IL-6) was carried out using the in silico molecular docking method. This research includes simulations of molecular docking of the ethanol extract of kenikir leaves against the IL-6 receptor (PDB ID: 1ALU) and prediction of pharmacokinetic profiles and toxicity using the Pre-ADMET server. The results showed that four potential compounds were obtained, namely C1 (Kaempferol), C2 (1-Caffeoylquinic acid, C3 (Procyanidin B1), dan C5 (Quercetin-3-O-pentoside). The four compounds have better ?G and Ki values ??compared to natural ligands. ?G value; Ki test compounds, namely (-5.29 Kcal / mol; 133.31 uM), (-6.02 Kcal / mol; 38.44 uM), (-5.38 Kcal / mol; 114, 24 uM), and (-5.46 Kcal / mol; 99.50 uM). PreADMET results of the four compounds have good adsorption power so that they can be considered in the preparation of oral route preparations. The results of the Ames test showed that C1 and C2 were mutagenic, while C3 and C4 were non-mutagenic.

Abstract

Breast cancer is a type of malignant tumor that develops in the breast due to the cell’s abnormal growth. One of the chemotherapy agents used is paclitaxel, but its use causes various side effects. Therefore, the search for other compounds that can be used as an alternative treatment with minimal side effects is carried out. The compounds of oleandrin, oleandrigenin, and odoroside A derived from the leaves of the Nerium oleander have the potential to inhibit phosphorylation activation through a pathway mediated by phospho-STAT-3. The purpose of this study was to determine the best compound through molecular and pharmacokinetic interactions of the compounds found in Nerium oleander. Interaction studies are carried out by monitoring the aspects of in silico molecular docking simulation, predictions of absorption, distribution, metabolism and toxicity through the PreADMET web were also carried out, and Lipinski’s rules. Oleandrin compounds have good pharmacokinetic activity with HIA and Caco2 absorption values ??of 94.293% and 25.490 nm/s, PPB and BBB values ??of 82.203% and 0.046%. Oleandrin has a binding energy of -7.22 kcal/mol with an inhibition constant of 5.07 µM. Oleandrin does not have mutagenic potential but does have carcinogenic potential. Oleandrin has no mutagenic potential but has carcinogenic potential. However, in vitro studies have shown that oleandrin has the ability to inhibit tumor cell proliferation and stimulate tumor cell apoptosis.

Abstract

Umbi ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas (L.) Lam.) dan beras putih (Oryza sativa L.) diketahui memiliki aktivitas antioksidan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk membuat sediaan krim lulur scrub dari ekstrak etanol ubi jalar ungu dan mengetahui formula yang paling disukai. Umbi ubi jalar ungu diekstraksi dengan pelarut etanol 70% hingga menjadi ekstrak kental. Ekstrak kental tersebut kemudian diformulasikan menjadi sediaan krim lulur scrub yang terbagi atas 3 formula dengan variasi konsentrasi ekstrak yaitu konsentrasi 2% (FI), 4% (FII) dan 6% (FIII) yang masing masing formula ditambahkan serbuk beras putih sebagai bahan scrub. Evaluasi krim lulur scrub meliputi evaluasi mutu fisik (uji organoleptis, homogenitas, tipe krim, daya sebar, viskositas, sifat alir), uji pH, uji stabilitas dipercepat dengan metode cycling test dan uji hedonik (aroma, tekstur, warna, kesan lengket). Hasil evaluasi mutu fisik dan uji stabilitas menunjukkan krim lulur scrub yang diperoleh memiliki mutu dan stabilitas fisik yang baik. Hasil uji hedonik menunjukkan formula I merupakan formula yang paling disukai.

Abstract

Candlenut oil is often used as a traditional medicine that is used topically, generally used to treat hair and treat burns. The purpose of this study was to test the anti-burn activity of candlenut oil which has been formulated in the form of a gel. The method used was a laboratory experimental where candlenut oil was formulated in gel containing various concentrations of active substances 15, 20 and 25%, then tested for burn wound healing activity in mice induced by hot plates. Observation of wound healing time was carried out for 21 days. The results showed that 25% candlenut oil gel were similar to the positive control Burnazin® in healing burn wound. All of the candlenut oil gel formulas were completely fulfilled the requirement for gel preparation and have activity to heal burn wound. Abstract

Hair tonic is a hair care cosmetic to reduce hair loss, stimulate, and increase hair volume. Secang wood (Caesalpinia sappan L.) has the potential to be developed as an active substance in hair tonic products because it contains flavonoids, polyphenols, including brazilin which are used to treat damage hair. To ensure the safety of hair tonic products, safety tests are required, including skin and eye irritation tests. This study aims to determine the safety of hair tonic formula of ethanol extract, ethanol fraction, and chloroform-methanol fraction from sappan wood. Ethanol extract, ethanol fraction, and chloroform-methanol fraction of sappan wood were formulated into hair tonic preparations. The hair tonic safety test includes: primary irritation test and eye irritation test using HET-CAM method. Based on the primary irritation test, the score of erythema and edema on the skin obtained a PII value of 0 (non-irritating category). The HET-CAM test on the three hair tonic formulas, positive control and negative control, showed that the positive control (lactic acid) resulted in an irritation score of 9.51 (strong irritation category); negative control (NaCl 0.9%) and the three hair tonic formulas had an irritation score of 0 (no irritation category). This indicates that the hair tonic formula from ethanol extract, ethanol fraction, and chloroform-methanol fraction of sappanwood is not irritating and safe to use. Abstract

Shigella dysenteriae dan Salmonella thypi merupakan bakteri yang dapat menyebabkan infeksi pada saluran cerna. Kawista banyak ditemui di Indonesia dan dapat dijadikan terapi alternatif untuk mengatasi diare. Kandungan kimia yang terdapat pada kulit buah kawista diduga dapat berkhasiat sebagai antibakteri. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak kulit buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) terhadap bakteri Shigella dysenteriae dan Salmonella thypi. Tahap penelitian diawali dengan proses ekstrasi kulit buah kawista melalui metode maserasi, menggunakan pelarut metanol. Selanjutnya, dilakukan penapisan fitokimia dan pengujian aktivitas antibakteri. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri ekstrak kulit buah kawista menggunakan metode difusi cakram dalam berbagai konsentrasi, yaitu 5%, 10%, 20%, 40% dan 80% ekstrak. Uji aktivitas antibakteri diukur berdasarkan diameter daerah hambat (DDH) yang dihasilkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semakin tinggi konsentrasi ekstrak kulit buah kawista, semakin kuat aktivitas antibakteri yang diberikan. Pada konsentrasi 5%, rata-rata DDH untuk bakteri Shigella dysenteriae dan Salmonella thypi masing-masing adalah 7,91 mm dan 7,73 mm. Pada konsentrasi 80%, ekstrak memiliki aktivitas antibakteri yang paling kuat dengan rata-rata DDH 21,42 mm pada Shigella dysenteriae dan 20,93 mm pada Salmonella thypi. Ekstrak kulit buah kawista (Limonia acidissima) memiliki aktivitas antibakteri terhadap Shigella dysenteriae dan Salmonella thypi.

Abstract

Hypertension in pregnancy or preeclampsia was one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in fetuses and pregnant women. Treatment for hypertension in pregnant women must be safe and appropriate, so the treatment of preeclampsia requires special attention to obtain effective therapy at a more rational cost. One methodology that can be used to conduct pharmacoeconomic research is a cost effectiveness analysis. This study aimed to determine the most effective use of drugs between methyldopa and nifedipine in terms of costs and benefits (outcomes) resulting in inpatients of preeclampsia hospitalized at H. Abdul Manap Hospital, Jambi City. This study was designed descriptively with retrospective data collection, by taking data from the medical records of inpatients at H. Abdul Manap Hospital, Jambi City. The number of samples in this study were 67 patients. Of the 67 samples, it was shown that the use of the antihypertensive nifedipine was more effective (cost effective) than the use of the antihypertensive methyldopa in 2016-2018 at H. Abdul Manap Hospital, Jambi City. Judging from the ACER value in 2016-2018, nifedipine has a lower ACER value, namely in 2016 Rp. 6,948, in 2017 Rp. 7,035, and in 2018 Rp. 8,572.

Abstract

Banyaknya pasien covid-19 di Kabupaten Bondowoso menyebabkan dikeluarkannya edaran tentang pemanfaatan kearifan lokal untuk membantu mengatasinya. P4TO Dinas Kesehatan Kabupaten Bondowoso kemudian mengeluarkan ramuan jamu sebagai terapi komplementer untuk pasien covid-19 yang sedang dirawat di rumah sakit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji kualitas jamu yang digunakan pada terapi komplementer tersebut. Untuk pengujian kualitas dilakukan uji organoleptis, kadar air, kandungan fitokimia, kadar antioksidan, pemeriksaan cemaran mikroba, dan aktivitas antibakteri dari ramuan jamu yang terdiri dari temu mangga, rosela, kayu manis, secang, dan pandan suji. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan konsistensi organoleptis, sedangkan kadar air di atas nilai yang dipersyaratkan, yaitu ?10%. Pengujian kandungan fitokimia secara kuantitatif menunjukkan jamu tersebut mengandung flavonoid dan alkaloid, dengan total flavonoid, total fenol, dan nilai IC50 hasil uji DPPH berturut-turut adalah 1,86; 31,26 mg/gram dan 8,57 ppm. Untuk pengujian mikrobiologi diketahui tidak ada cemaran mikroba yang berarti. Pengujian aktivitas antibakteri menunjukkan tidak ada aktivitas antibakteri. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa “jamu anti-corona” yang digunakan sebagai terapi komplementer di Kabupaten Bondowoso secara kualitas bagus dan memiliki nilai antioksidan yang tinggi.

Abstract

Tirosinase merupakan salah satu enzim yang berperan dalam pembentukan pigmen kulit dari seseorang karena terlibat dalam proses melanogenesis. Tirosinase sangat berperan terhadap proses depigmentasi kulit, terdapat beberapa upaya untuk menghambat proses depigmentasi kulit salah satunya dengan menghambat tirosinase. Penelitian pada daun dan akar singawalang (Petiveria alliacea) dilakukan untuk mengetahui adanya potensi sebagai inhibitor tirosinase. Ekstrak daun dan akar singawalang dimaserasi dengan etanol, kemudian dilakukan uji identifikasi metabolit sekunder. Ekstrak daun singawalang mengandung alkaloid, tanin dan terpenoid sedangkan ekstrak akar singawalang mengandung alkaloid, flavonoid, tanin dan terpenoid. Aktivitas penghambatan tirosinase menggunakan teknik microplate reader ELISA pada panjang gelombang 492 nm. Pengujian dilakukan terhadap asam kojat sebagai pembanding dan L-DOPA sebagai substrat. Hasil uji aktivitas penghambatan tirosinase ekstrak daun singawalang, akar singawalang dan asam kojat, berturut-turut IC50 sebesar 9,817 mg/mL, 4,987 mg/mL dan 0,092 mg/mL.
