Z. FACHRUROZI & R. HARAHAP 1985. The effect of atonic solutions on the growth of bread fruit (Artocarpus altilis (Park) Fosbere). Berita Biologi 3 (1)12-15, -A study on the application of atonic solution as the stimulating agent on the growth of bread fruit suckers indicated that the solution containing of 250 ppm and 500 ppm respectively are significantly increased the numbers as well as speeded up the growth of the 15 cm length suckers. The possibility to use these solutions on the suckers less than 15 cm length is discussed.

ANITA HANNA ATMOWIDJOJO. 1985. Resistancy of some tea (Camellia sinensis L.) clones to scarlet mites (Brevipalpus phoenicis Geijsk). Berita Biologi 3 (1) : 1-4. Scarlet mite (Brevipalpus phoenicis Geijsk) is an important pest of tea culture in Indonesia. Several means can be used to control this pest such as the use of pesticides, biological control, and the use of tea resistant clones. The last mentioned method is considered to be the best and the most effective. Most of the tea estates in Indonesia nowadays use clones as new planting materials and their resistance to scarlet mite is known to vary.In the present study, sixteen clones were compared for their resistance. The results showed that clones PS 324 and TRI 2024 were the most resistant to scarlet mite nfestations.

B. TAPPA & S. ADISOEMARTO. 1985. Rat distribution in the Bogor Botanic Garden. Berita Biologi 3 (1) : 5 - 7. A study on rat distribution in the Bogor Botanical Garden was conducted in dry and wet season for one year period. Live-trapping was placed at habitat ten types. Three rats species were recorded during the study, i.e. Rattus tiomanicus, R.r. diardii and R. exulans. R. tiomanicus was found to be the most predominant species and its population more abundant than R.r. diardii and R. exulans. R. tiomanicus typically was captured at trap stations characterized by bamboo clumps, bananas and palms vegetation. R.r. diardii generally was trapped at stations with block housing area. R. exulans occupied may occur on some types of habitat.Analysis of rat distribution related trapping period wa s als o discussed

L. AGUS SUKAMTO 1985.The flowering biology of avocado (Persea americana Mill.). Berita Biologi 3 (1) 8 - H.- A study on the flowering biology of avocado available at Bogor Botanic Garden was made. The observation was conducted in respects to the opening and closing of the flowers, the versality of the pollen grains which are then related to the fruit production. The climatic condition as well as pollination agents which may affect on the vertilization in avocado are also discussed.
