Abstract

Wirdateti, A.N. Pratiwi, D. Diapari & A. S. Tjakradidjaja. 2009. Daily behavior offemale Leaf Grey Monkey (Trachypithecus cristatus, Raffles 1812) in WildlifeRescue Center Gadog captivity, Ciawi-Bogor. Zoo Indonesia 18(1): 33-40. Theresearch was conducted to study daily behaviour and feed preference of female leafgrey monkey (Trachypithecus cristatus, Raffles 1812) in captivity.Three female leafgrey monkeys were used in the study. Type of diets being oberserved were creepingwater-plant (Ipomea aquatica) forks, pohpohan (Pilea trinervia), spinach (Amaranthusspp. L), green brassica leaf (Brassica juncea, L), fruit-tree leaf (Gnetum gnemonLinn), and boiled sweet potato (Ipomea batatas Poir). The observation was conductedfrom 06.00 a.m to 06.00 p.m with 15 minutes interval time. Variables being measuredwere feeding activity, drinking activity, defecation, urination, locomotion, groomingand resting activity. Data were analyzed using descriptive analysis with one zerosampling method. The result showed that the percentage value of feeding activity, drinking activity, defecation, urination, locomotion, grooming and resting activity were:10.49%, 3.87%, 10.33%, 4.35%, 19.71%, 23.05% and 28.19% of total activities, respectively. Leaf grey monkey preferred to eat from the first until the last feeds, wereboiled sweet potato, green brassica, creeping water-plant, spinach and fruit-tree.

Abstract

Notodontidae, a moderate family withinLepidoptera, consists of at least 3500species around the world. The speciesare mostly moderate to large in size withbiologically cryptic, but aestheticallypleasing wing patterns. The wings, especially the forewings, are usuallylonger and relatively narrow, as is theabdomen. The wing scaling is oftencoarse and the patterning never verycrisply defined.

Abstract

Pegunungan Muller is an importantwater supply for three big rivers in Kalimantan (Kapuas, Barito & Mahakam rivers). These rivers support the local fish spurces; one of them is located in Bukit Sapathawung. The purposes of this study were to evaluate the fish diversity, abundance, distribution, its potency, and species status. The results showed there were 45 fish species belongingto 29 genus and 13 families; Cyprinidae was the dominant family. The species ofRasbora volzi was the most abundant reaching 14 ind./St., and Barbodes collingwoodiiwas the most locally distributed reaching 7.81%. Most of the species were commonfish species, in which 8 were endemic species of Borneo, 5 species as new records ofCentral Kalimantan, and 2 species are though to be new species. Almost all specieshad potency as consumed fish.

Abstract

Murniati, D.C. 2009. Comparative spoon tiped setae coverage of the secondmaxilliped of Uca spp. (Brachyrura: Ocypodidae). Zoo Indonesia 18(1): 1-7. Uca iswell known as a group of small, intertidal Ocypodid crab and it is characterized bysexual dimorphism and males have asymmetry chelipeds. Uca spp. has spoon tipedsetae for feeding. The aim of this study was to compare the spoon tiped setae coverageof the second maxilliped of Uca spp. Uca annulipes, U. coarctata and U. triangulariswere used in this study. The second maxilliped of each crab was removed andobserved under a stereo and a compound microscopes. Nonparametric two-factoranalysis of variance revealed that there were significant differences in spoon tipedsetae coverage among U. annulipes, U. coarctata and U. triangularis. However, therewas no difference in spoon tiped setae coverage among female, male and juvenile. This observation shows that this character is not affected by sex and age.

Kurniati, H. 2009. Morphological variations of Sumatran Toren frogs, Huiasumatrana (Yang, 1991) and H. modiglianii Doria, Salvidio and Tavan, 1999. ZooIndonesia 18(1):9-20. Based on an examination specimens of the Sumatran TorrentFrog, Huia sumatrana in Museum Zoologicum Bogoriense (MZB), Indonesia, severalindividuals were found to possess morphological characters similar to those of H.modiglianii, including the number of crossbars on the thigh, snout morphology, anddorsal and ventral pattern and coloration. A similar degree of morphological variationin H. sumatrana that close to H. modiglianii tentatively is named as H. cf sumatrana.
