Abstract

The Kapal Badung district hospital has become a class C hospital with a status as district public service body since late 2010.  The hospital revenue had increased during year 2009 to 2011, yet the hospital is still subsidized by the government. Therefore, in its development, the hospital is expected to be able to do tariffs improvement, which is influenced by ability and willingness to pay for health care. The aim of this research is to measure the ability and willingness to pay of inpatient services in the Kapal Badung Hospital. This research was descriptive which describes ability and willingness to pay of inpatients in the Kapal Badung Hospital. The design employed in this research was cross-sectional in which the measurement was conducted at a point in time. The number of sample in this research was 261 persons. The average of third class patients’ willingness to pay was Rp. 279.985; second class was Rp. 297.995; first class was Rp. 443.557, and VIP class was Rp. 950.796. Meanwhile, the ability to pay of the third class patients was Rp. 22.777; second class was Rp. 42.500; first class was Rp. 42.500, and VIP class was Rp. 241.667. Generally, the ability to pay of the first, second, third and VIP classes were higher than the prevailing tariffs. Community’s willingness to pay for in-patient services in the Kapal Badung Hospital for the second, third and VIP classes were lower than tariffs, nevertheless the willingness to pay of the first class patients was higher than the prevailing tariff.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the average length of stay (ALOS) of acute diarrhea among children under five years old as well as identify factors that influence it. This study uses a retrospective cohort design, where 147 acute diarrhea patients under five years old in BRSU Tabanan during January-June 2011 was defined as the cohort members and 101 out of them was selected randomly as the study samples. Secondary data was collected by reviewing medical records of a sample file. Then analyzed using  survival analysis with the Life Table method, Kaplan-Meier and Cox regression. The study results indicate that the ALOS of acute diarrhea among children under five years old was 103 (CI 95%: 94.5-112.1) hours. The ALOS among infant and patients with severe dehydration were108.2(CI 95%: 95.5-120.1) and 157.2(CI(95%:132.4-181.9) hours respectively. Infant and severe dehidration significant effect on the length of stay of acute diarrhea in children under five years old with HR = 2.02(95%CI:1.5-3.9) and 12.2(95% CI: 5.1-29.2) respectively. The ALOS of acute diarrhea  in children under five years old at Tabanan BRSU was 103 hours, it was exceed WOH standards are set for four days. Severe dehidration and age under 12 years old effect on the length of stay. It is advisable for management to improve the quality of hospital inpatient services to conform to standards established by WHO

Abstract

Youth is the one of risk group in reproductive health. From all cases, the majority of HIVAIDS was occurred between 15-25 years old. To gain information of reproductive health, youth is prefer to choose mass media as a prior information source. This study aims to examine the influence between mass media of interest with the knowledge level of reproductive health among senior high school youth in Denpasar 2012. This study was analytical study with quantitative method and cross sectional design. Samples of 120 eleventh grade students both male and female were selected using stratified cluster sampling. Data were collected via questionnaire and analyzed statistically using chi square test. The result shows that the student’s knowledge was moderate (64.2%). Mass media of interest and frequently accessed by youth to gain reproductive health information were website (40.8%), television (24.2%), and magazine (6.7%). Among those media, the highest knowledge was gained from magazine (50%), but unfortunately youth has less interest to gain information from magazine. Mass media which is interested and frequently accessed by youth was significantly related with knowledge level of reproductive health among senior high school youth (p = 0,048). The Recommendation is The Department of Health, The National Health AIDS Commision and NGO’s which is concern to reproductive health commence to develop a recent, appropriate, and high grade reproductive health information on a website.

Abstract

RSUD Kabupaten Klungkung ,up to now, can not afford to cover its operational cost. This is because income gained from inpatient care especially from VIP ward was not optimal. This study aimed is to calculate unit cost from inpatient care VIP A,B,C and Maha Utama RSUD Kabupaten klungkung. This research is a case study using direct activities in inpatient care unit and indirect activities in supporting unit as a study object. Datas are collected through literature study from hospital reports and participation observation to find out activities happen during the production process. Research found that the higher direct cost is in Maha Utama ward, which was Rp 166.596 and the lowest is in VIP C ; Rp 138.697. On the other hand, the  highest indirect cost is in VIP C ; Rp 144.377 and the lowest is in Maha utama ; Rp 144.330. From the calculation, unit cost of inpatient care services  in VIP A, B, C and Maha utama are different one to another : Rp. 291.525, Rp. 284.112, Rp. 283.344 and Rp. 310.925 respectively. This study concluded that hat unit cost for inpatient care was increase along with the inpatient room level.

Abstract

The proportion of newly enrolled elementary students at age 6-9 years in city of Denpasar in 2007 that consider as stunted was 36,1%. Proportion of thin boys was 9,2% and thin girls 7,4%. Meanwhile, boys and girls who were overweight was 18,3% and 11,5%, respectively. Newly enrolled elementary students are risk of getting nutritional problem either under or overweight. The aim of this study was to analyze the nutritional status of newly enrolled elementary students in City of Denpasar in 2011 based on antropometric indexes including weight for age, height for age and BMI for age. This was an observational study that applying cross sectional desigen. There ware 300 samples in the study that were selected by cluster random samplin method. The data for determining the nutritional status of the children was obtain and analyzed from report of the newly enrolled elementary students health screening in 2011. It than was presented in either table or description. It was found that based on BMI for age index more than half of the children 59,30% had normal nutritional status, 26,70% was overweight and 14,00% was undernourishhed.

Abstract

The number of cumulative AIDS cases from 1987 to June 2012 in Indonesia, based on the type of work dominated by three groups, that is self-employed, housewives, and employees. The government is very concerned with issues of HIV / AIDS on labor so that the theme which was appointed to commemorate World AIDS Day 2011 is devoted to the protection of industrial and workers from HIV/AIDS. This theme is associated with a strategy for HIV/AIDS globally in 2011-2015 is “Getting to Zero”, which one of his vision is zero discrimination. These efforts are expected to reduce the negative stigma and discrimination against People Life With HIV/AIDS (PLWHA) in particular to workers. The purpose of this study was to get an overview of the perception of hotel employees in Denpasar about HIV/AIDS. This research is a quantitative explanatory using cross-sectional approach. The sample was 115 people were taken to the multi-stage random sampling technique. Data were collected using a questionnaire and then analyzed descriptively. The results showed that more than half of respondents had a low level of knowledge about HIV/AIDS and the level of knowledge from respondents there is no a significant difference viewed from the education, age and income. The perception of the respondents about HIV/AIDS almost equal between the “negative perception” and “positive perception” however, “negative perception” tend to be large than the “positive perception”.

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a chronical disease that occurs on woman’s cervix. The mortality rate of this cancer in Indonesia is around 90 – 100 cases among 100.000 woman per year. Cases of cervical cancer can be influenced by several factors: age, age at the first sexual intercourse, multiple sex partners, number of marriage, parity, history of genital disease, and the level of knowledge.  The purpose of this research is to determine the incidence of cervical cancer among the productive-aged woman in Primary Health Care II of South Denpasar. The study design was a cross sectional descriptive study. Sampling in this study using a systematic random sampling of women in reproductive age who done a pap smear in Puskesmas II Denpasar Selatan as many as 40 WUS. Based on research conducted on WUS in the working area of the Puskesmas II Denpasar Selatan can be seen that the incidence of cervical cancer was 25%. It show the high incidence of cervical cancer, therefore early detection is needed especially women in reproductive age.

Abstract

In the 1970s until the 1990s, IUD is the primary contraceptive method of choice. However, the use of IUD has decreased from year to year. IUD is an effective contraception to be used  in a relative long term. So, it is important to know it the survival of IUD usage and  continuity and the determinants. This study is a retrospective cohort study methods. The sample of this study was 128 IUD acceptors who visit Catur Warga Clinic PKBI Bali March – April 2012. The data were extracted from the medical records and analyzed by using the survival analysis methods. The results of this study showed the IUD continuation rates were 82%, 71% and 44% at 6, 12 and 24 months respectively. The median survival was 26 months. The factor of age (p = 0.301), occupation (p = 0.932), parity (p = 0.607), side effects (p = 0.120), level of education (p = 0.810) and the demand of having a child (p = 0.245) didn’t significantly affect the continuity of IUD use. The survival analysis methods continuation rate of IUD use decrease almost twice after 18 months be used as an alternative statistics test in the analysis of the influence of independent variables with dependent variables which is associated with the time of a certain events. An appropriate method is needed to obtain the corresponding cohort. Information should be provided toward family planning acceptors about the benefit of IUD other longterm contraceptive methods.
