Abstract

Until now, research by using of a standard cutting tool at lathe process is still become a subject of many studies in order to reduce of the force, cutting power and temperature. However, there are no satisfactory results yet as expected. In order to participate in overcoming these problems, it is conducted a study on the cutting process by using of standard cutting tool which is modified become double-edged chisel cutting tool. Variables selected in the machining process are cutting speed, feed and depth of pieces motion, due to these variables influence the change in style, cutting power and temperature will be researched. Research procedure was conducted by measuring the amount of cutting force, machining power and cutting temperature in each process multiple pieces of lathe with double-edged chisel cutting tool and then compared with using cutting tool standard. Data collected use of the data acquisition system so that the results obtained can be directly read on a computer screen. The statistical testing to be done is using a procedure paired-samples T test to determine whether use of double-edged chisel cutting tool (modified) will be better when compared with using of standard cutting tool. The result of research show that by use of double-edged chisel cutting tool can be obtained lower of the force, cutting power and temperature.

Abstract

Central AC chilled water system is an air conditioning system that has cooling ability in more than one room. The system has two cycles consist of primary and secondary cycles. When primary cycle works, the refrigerant is used as a working fluid while in the secondary cycle process, the water is used as working fluid. To determine the heat absorbed by water, it can be done by analyzing NTU (Number of Transfer Unit) of the water chiller system. The variation of the chilled water volume rate applied in this research was from 13 l/min to 5 l/min, with the interval of 0.5 l/min. As a result, it was founded that the maximum value of NTU was 2.01, at chilled water volume rate of 12 l/min. Below that chilled water volume rate, values of NTU would decrease and stable. It can be concluded that the volume rate of chilled water influenced the value of NTU in the FCU (Fan Coil Unit) of the water chiller AC system.

Abstract

Welding is a joining process of 2 or more metal that is widely used in industry. To obtain good welding result it is needed appropriate filler and weld parameters to avoid weld defect and wide deference of mechanic properties between welded metal and base metal. In this experiment we used different filler and current (E 6010, 7018 ? 2,5mm ? 350mm , 100 dan 130 A)and use material carbon steel AISI 1045 and SMAW welding method. Rockwell C Hardness tested in welded metal, HAZ, and base metal area. The hardness number in welded metal and HAZ is reported higher than base metal area, the hardness number of welded metal and HAZ that use current 130 is higher than that one than use current 100 A,and hardness number in base metal relatifely similar. The hardness number of welded metal that use electrode 7018 is higher than hardness number of welded metal that use electrode 6010, and hardness number of HAZ and base metal is not affected significantly by the types of electrode.

Abstract

Bronze especially tin-bronze is most used as base material in making of music instrument such as bell, gamelan and others music instrument. In making of gamelan product, tin-bronze which is alloying between cooper and tin are cast, forged, harmonized and finished finally. Production process and composition are important thing should be noticed. Composition to be used by craftsman is very various depend on customary. In this research, the problem to be investigated is how much the hardness change and fracture toughness due to variation of deformation level. The purpose of this research is to know the effect of deformation level on the hardness and fracture toughness of gamelan base material, so that is hoped can yield bronze good quality as gamelan base material. At melting process of specimen, bronze is made with composition 77,5%Cu – 22,5% Sn according to craftsman composition used. The levels of specimen deformation are 5%, 10%, and 15%. Before forging process, specimens are given heat treatment with temperature 800oC during 30 minutes. Measurement of material hardness use of Vickers Method and fracture toughness test use of Three Point Bending (ASTM E 399-90) model. The result of research shows that t, the higher hardness and fracture toughness to be obtained.

Abstract

Need of electrical energy is increasing along with people population and economic growth. According to PLN data, Bali Province’s electrical consumption is predicted growth 5,6% in average every year. Until year 2007, electrical condition in Bali is categorized critical. If Power Plat in Bali, PLTG Gilimanuk that has power 130 MW is out of system, affecting Bali’s electrical back up is minus. Consecuenlly, it will be extinguishing if there is not adding power plan or new energy supply. This problem needs to be anticipated by use of thermal energy program such as coal, gas and geothermal and use of alternative energy such as solar, wind and ocean energies. Regency of Buleleng is one of Regency in Bali having potency of renewable energy development especially water resource. It has some rivers that have potency to be developed as a Micro Hydro Power Plant (PLTMH). One of them is Kelampuak River which is located in Tamblang Village. As a first step in developing of Micro Hydro Power Plant, it needs to be known water debit and head of the river. For that reason, it needs to be investigated debit and head of Kelampuak River so that it can be predicted the power can be generated.
