Abstract

Waste remains an environmental issue facing the people of Naena Muktipura Village, Iwaka District, Mimika Regency. Lack of public awareness of the decomposition time of waste and the habit of littering are key issues identified based on field observations. In response to this situation, Group 1 of the Student Creativity Program (PKM) implemented an Environmental Care Movement by creating and installing waste education boards as a visual educational tool for the community. This activity aims to raise public awareness of the dangers of inorganic waste and the importance of maintaining a clean environment. The implementation method is carried out collaboratively within students, including needs analysis, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The educational boards are designed to be simple and informative, featuring real-life examples of waste and information on the decomposition time. They are then installed in strategic locations for easy access and reading by the public. The results of the activity showed that the educational boards were installed effectively and received a positive response from the community. The boards attracted residents' attention and increased their understanding of the long-term impacts of waste. This activity is expected to foster collective community awareness of maintaining a clean environment sustainably.

Abstract

Social service activities are a form of community service aimed at increasing social awareness and improving environmental quality. Naena Muktipura Village faces various environmental problems, such as the habit of indiscriminate waste disposal. The methods used include field observation and direct environmental clean-up activities carried out by students through several stages: needs analysis, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. This activity is expected to serve as an initial step in fostering clean and healthy living behaviors as well as strengthening the value of mutual cooperation in a sustainable manner in Naena Muktipura Village. The results indicate an improvement in social service activities related to environmental cleanliness, the availability of supporting facilities such as trash bins, and basic cleaning equipment including brooms, dustpans, trash bags, and gloves to support the cleaning activities conducted by the PKM team. This activity is also expected to foster collective community awareness in maintaining environmental cleanliness on a sustainable basis.

Abstract

This Community Service Program (PKM) aimed to create a more creative and comfortable learning environment for early childhood students at TK Negeri 3 Naena Muktipura Village. The background of this program was the limited classroom decoration and visual learning media, which reduced children’s learning motivation and creativity. A participatory and collaborative approach was applied by involving university students, teachers, parents, and children in classroom decoration activities and educational games. The program was conducted in one day through several stages, including needs analysis, preparation, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed a significant improvement in the classroom atmosphere, which became more colorful, attractive, and child-friendly. The children were more enthusiastic and motivated to learn, and they felt proud because their artworks were displayed in the classroom. Teachers and parents also gave positive feedback since the new decorations could be used as learning media. In conclusion, this PKM activity not only improved the physical learning environment but also had a positive impact on the psychological and social aspects of early childhood learning.
