Abstract

This study aims at explaining the transfer of character education value in children literature in terms of Indonesian and translation version. This study was a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study encompassed the value of character education which were explored from the narrator, characters’ utterance and characters’ act. There were two novels as the source of data, namely Laskar Pelangi as Indonesian literature and Nenek Hebat dari Saga as translation literature. The form of data inventory was used for collecting data. Three steps were employed to analyze data, which were: data reduction, data display and conclusion. The finding of study indicated that there was the transfer of character education value through children literature in terms of the behavior and attitude. These values closely related to (1) God, (2) self, (3) family, (4) society and nation, and (5) environment. In Laskar Pelangi’s novel, there were sub indicators especially in terms of Islam teaching, which are: discipline, creative, work-hard, honesty, tolerance and nationalism. In Nenek Hebat dari Saga’s novel, there were some sub indicators related to behavior such as Buddhism, wise, efficient, creative, and confident. This novel also described closely the habit, culture and nature of Japanese.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to figure out the contribution of reading interest on literature and reading comprehension toward students’ ability in writing fantasy story of VII grade of junior high schools in Padang. This research was quantitative research that applied correlational method. The sample were 106 students. The sampling technique was stratified random sampling. Data were analyzed by using Pearson Product Moment Correlational test, multiple regression, t test, and F test. The result shown that first, the reading interest on literature contributed 61,3%. Second, the reading comprehension on fantasy story contributed 55,5%. Third, both of the reading interest on literature and reading comprehension on fantasy story contributed 63,8%. Thus, reading interest on literature and reading comprehension on fantasy story gave contribution and significant relationship toward ability in writing fantasy story text.

Abstract

This study aimeds to describe the form of mental revolution in NyanyianPanjangBujang Si Undang which is viewed from six aspects tunjuk ajar, namely faith to God, honesty, intelligence, integrity, caring, and nationality. This study was a qualitative research using descriptive method. The data in this study were the character of educational value from the narrator, characters’ utterance and characters’ act which werecollected through format of data inventory. The data were analyzed based on Miles dan Hubeman’s models through three steps; data reduction, data display and conclusion. There are six forms mental revolution on the characters of educational value in NyanyianPanjangBujang Si Undangnamely faith to God, honesty, intelligence, integrity, caring, and nationality. Therefore, NyanyianPanjangBujang Si Undang as oral tradition inheritance can be used as the alternative in supporting the education from local wisdom of Melayu society to solve the problems of morality and ethic.

Abstract

This article aims to reveal philosophy level from axiology (use) of literature in the society of Minangkabau’s superstition viewed from cultural manifestation. This research is a content analysis researh using descriptive qualitative method. The research was done in 10 places in Luhak Kubuang Tigo Baleh Minangkabau namely Salayo, Cupak, Gantuang Ciri, Guguak, Koto Anau, Muara Paneh, Kota Solok, Talang, Panyangkalan, dan Kinari.The data in this research is the statements of superstition in KubuangTigoBaleh society which is obtained from observation and indepth interview withpenghulu, cerdik pandai, and alim ulama. In analyzing the data, the research usedMiles danHubeman’s modelsthrough three steps (1) data reduction, (2) data display and (3) conclusion. Based on the findings it can be concluded that There are four patterns of superstition, namely negative, positive, prediction and witchcraft pattern. Moreover, in the process of pattern meaning the lofty ethic values are framed and considered as local wisdom of the Minangkabau society, especially in KubuangTigoBaleh which is appropriate, well-mannered, educated and existence acknowledged as a belief.
