Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of physical exercise on reducing anxiety levels among university students. Anxiety, a negative psychological symptom often triggered by emotional or physical stress, is a common issue faced by students due to academic pressures, social expectations, and future uncertainties. While pharmacological treatments are available, many students seek alternative, accessible, and affordable methods to manage anxiety. Exercise has been shown to provide significant mental health benefits, including anxiety reduction, by releasing neurotransmitters such as endorphins, serotonin, and dopamine, while lowering cortisol levels. This study uses a quantitative experimental approach with a pre-test and post-test design, involving 26 students from the Sport Science at Singaperbangsa University, Karawang. The Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAM-A) was used to measure anxiety levels before and after a 4-week exercise intervention, consisting of light aerobic and strength exercises conducted once a week. The results indicate a significant reduction in anxiety levels, from a pre-test average score of 28.81 (severe anxiety) to a post-test average score of 5.27 (mild anxiety). The paired sample t-test showed a statistically significant difference (p = 0.000), suggesting that the exercise intervention effectively reduced anxiety. These findings highlight the potential of exercise as a practical, cost-effective intervention for managing anxiety, and recommend its integration into university wellness programs to support students' mental health. Further research with larger, more diverse samples and extended intervention periods is suggested to explore the long-term effects of exercise on anxiety.

Abstract

This study focuses on the physical condition profile of athletes at the Kancil Mas Football School (SSB) U-15 category, to evaluate the level of physical fitness of athletes in supporting their optimal performance on the field. The physical conditions measured include endurance, speed, agility, and leg muscle explosive power, which are key elements in the game of football. This study uses a quantitative descriptive method, with instruments in the form of physical tests such as the Bleep Test, 30-meter run, shuttle run, and standing long jump. The results showed that most athletes had adequate physical condition, with the majority of athletes in the "Good" category for speed and explosive power, and the "Fair" category for endurance and agility. However, aerobic endurance and agility still require more attention to achieve a higher level of performance. This study provides important insights for coaches and training program managers at SSB Kancil Mas to design more targeted development strategies. These findings also emphasize the importance of continuous evaluation to ensure athlete readiness in facing competition. Through a data-based approach, this research is expected to be the basis for effective decision-making in improving the quality of coaching for young athletes at SSB Kancil Mas.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of exercise on the sleep quality of students at the Faculty of Health, Singaperbangsa University, Karawang. Good sleep quality is essential for physical and mental health, but many students experience sleep problems due to high academic demands and modern lifestyles. The research method used was comparative, involving 17 students who filled out a questionnaire regarding the frequency, intensity, and duration of exercise and their sleep quality. The results showed that 70.6% of respondents felt an improvement in sleep quality after exercising, especially with light physical activity such as jogging for 30 minutes. This study also found that exercise helps reduce stress levels and increases the production of hormones that support better sleep. Thus, it is recommended that students integrate exercise routines into their lifestyles to improve sleep quality and overall well-being. This study provides important insights into the benefits of exercise not only for physical health but also for mental health and encourages educational institutions to support sports activities among students.
