ABSTRAK: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penerapan model pembelajaran Inside-Outside Circle dalam pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia pada materi teks eksplanasi serta menganalisis peningkatan keterampilan berbicara siswa. Latar belakang penelitian ini adalah rendahnya keterampilan berbicara siswa yang ditandai dengan kurangnya kepercayaan diri dan partisipasi dalam pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI SMA. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan model Inside-Outside Circle mampu meningkatkan aktivitas belajar siswa dan keterampilan berbicara. Siswa menjadi lebih aktif, berani mengemukakan pendapat, serta mampu menjelaskan hubungan sebab-akibat secara runtut dan logis. Selain itu, suasana pembelajaran menjadi lebih interaktif dan komunikatif. Dengan demikian, model Inside-Outside Circle efektif digunakan dalam pembelajaran teks eksplanasi untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berbicara siswa. KATA KUNCI: Insid -Outside Circle; keterampilan berbicara; kata kunci 3; Pelajaran Bahasa Indonesia; Teks Eksplanasi. > THE APPLICATION OF THE INNER-OUTER CIRCLE MODEL IN INDONESIAN LANGUAGE INSTRUCTION: EXPLANATORY TEXTS FOR 11TH-GRADE STUDENTS AT UISU PRIVATE HIGH SCHOOL IN MEDAN ABSTRACT: This study aims to describe the application of the Inside-Outside Circle learning model in Indonesian language instruction on explanatory texts and to analyze improvements in students’ speaking skills. The background of this study is the low level of students’ speaking skills, characterized by a lack of self-confidence and participation in the learning process. This study employs a qualitative method with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. The research subjects were 11th-grade high school students. The results showed that the application of the Inside-Outside Circle model was able to improve students’ learning activities and speaking skills. Students became more active, were more willing to express their opinions, and were able to explain cause-and-effect relationships coherently and logically. In addition, the learning atmosphere became more interactive and communicative. Thus, the Inside-Outside Circle model is effective for use in teaching explanatory texts to improve students’ speaking skills.
