Abstract

The incidence of breast cancer in Indonesia has increased from year to year as many as 12,014 cases (28.7%). If this cannot be controlled, it is estimated that by 2030 there will be 26 million people suffering from breast cancer and 17 million people who will die. The number of breast cancer case that is still quite high is caused by the low awareness of women to do examination immediately if there is something different in their breasts. One of the early detection efforts is by doing Breast Self- Examination (BSE). This research was aimed at finding out the relationship between the level of knowledge of Breast Self- Examination (BSE) and BSE behavior as breast cancer early detection effort of Nursing undergraduate students of Health Faculty of Universitas Jenderal Achmad Yani Yogyakarta. The research was quantitative in nature with descriptive correlation design and cross sectional approach. The sample taken used purposive sampling with 68 respondents. The instrument of the research used questionnaire about BSE knowledge and BSE behavior and the result would be analyzed with Pearson statistical test. The results showed that the majority age of respondents 20.78 years old, obtained information facilities from other people and mass media, had knowledge average of 16.95 and the behavior average of 24.56.The research result showed that there was significant relationship between BSE knowledge and BSE behavior proven by the p value of 0.028 (p < 0.05). The Pearson correlation value was 0.266 showing positive correlation with weak correlation. There was a relationship between BSE knowledge and BSE behavior. The higher the level of knowledge of BSE, the better BSE behavior. The nurses could increase the attention to the health education to increase the BSE behavior.   Keywords: Knowledge, Behaviour, Breasts Cancer, Breast Self- Examination (BSE)

Abstract

Background of the Research:The intelectual disability of children is a condition of an abnormal intelligence function that is below average with their own inability appearing before the age of 18 years. Children with mental retardation have low development and intelligence and have difficulties in learning and adapting in the surrounding environment. Parenting patterns of children with intelectual disability is important for their development. Objective: To find out parenting patterns of children with mental retardation (intelectual disability) at SLB BaktiSiwiSleman. Method: This is a non-experimental quantitative research with descriptive approach. The sample of the research was 26 parents selected through total sampling techniques. The instrument was questionnaires. Technique of data analysis using data analysis diskritif with the method of percentage. Finding: The research found the parenting patterns of children with intelectual disability. The data analysis result of 26 respondents revealed that 16 parents (61, 5%) mostly implement authoritative/democratic parenting pattern as the parenting patterns of children with intelectual disability. Meanwhile, there are 2 parents (7, 7%) with permissive parenting patternsand there are 2 other parents implementing authoritarian parenting patterns. Conclusion: The parenting patterns of children with intelectual disability at SLB BaktiSiwiSleman show that there are 16 parents (61, 5%) of 26 parents implement authoritative parenting pattern. Abstract

Background: Labor is the process of delivering a baby that occurs in full-term pregnancy (37-42 weeks). One of the efforts to reduce anxiety during labor is to provide support from a significant person, a husband. Husban’s support in labor process is a source of strength for woman who cannot be replaced by health personnel. Objective: To identify the relationship between husband’s support and anxiety level during labor on primigravida at Mlati II Health Center Sleman. Methods: This study was descriptive quantitative, with cross sectional approach. The samples were 20 respondents who were selected withaccidental sampling technique. Research employed questionnairesto measure husband’s support and mother’s anxiety level. Study used univariable and bivariable analysis. Result: Most of the husband's support during labor on primigravida at Mlati II Health Center Sleman were at high category (75.0%). The majority of mothers experienced mild anxiety (50.0%). The relationship between husband’s support and anxiety during childbirth in primigravida mother at Mlati II Health Center Sleman district was at strong category; r = -0.632 (.600 to .799). Conclusion : There was a relationship between husbands’ support andprimigravida mothers’ anxiety level during labor at Mlati II Health Center Sleman.
