Abstract

This study talked the high power distance level between teachers and students in Indonesian society, especially in public schools. Creating two-way communication in intercultural communication that had high power distance will be a big challenge for teachers. This study used the qualitative method and the case study in of SDN Babakan 02, Setu, South Tangerang. It would see how the teacher's efforts in reducing the power distance that was in the learning process when the implementation of Curriculum 2013. Using in-depth interview and observation technique, all data needed was collected. In the end, this research has captured that teachers still need to know more about the Curriculum 2013. To share power distance as part of the curriculum is still difficult since the teachers do not have same understanding and perspective about K13.

Abstract

Individual Education Program (IEP) is a plan made by a team consists of parents, teachers, and other school elements. The purpose of IEP is to help students reach expected academic target. IEP is designed for students in special needs that not only defined academic target but also the methods for reaching the target. Thearticle explains the stages in defining IEP. The primary purpose of IEP is to give the same chance for students with special needs to have standard and public school education for other normal students. Through public schools, the students with special needs could interact and socialize with other students.

Abstract

The objective of the research was to find the linkages between mindfulness and social information processing theory on the use of WhatsApp group of Elementary school Principals in District Cilandak Region III for the distribution of various information and instructions. Through the concept of mindfulness and Social Information Processing theory approach (SIP), this research would explore the causes of the frequent emergence of noise, misunderstanding, and even tangency to the WA group that was carried on the meeting of headmaster meetings and relationships between members. The research problem was why WA group still causing issues among the Principals. By using the qualitative approach, data collection techniques used in this research were the interview, observation, and literature study. It is found that technological sophistication does not go parallel with maturity in communicating using media technologies. Lack of mindfulness in the WA group is a form of organizational communication that is simply transferred into the form of text communication on mobile phones that is being the main cause. Also, the organizational structure is still inherent in it and only serves as a bridge/form of interim communication because the main form of communication is still in the form of correspondence and face-to-face meetings.

Abstract

Curriculum 2013 has been officially implemented in all schools in Indonesia. This curriculum has quite a fundamental change in the competencies to be achieved. These changes lead to changes in the profile of students and teachers are expected. These changes lead to conversion in the expected profile of students and teachers. Teacher, a leading role in the successful implementation of the curriculum in schools, is required to create an interactive learning environment in which students and teachers participate actively. The additional hours of study is intended to provide sufficient time for the two-way communication. However, most of the teachers are not ready to create an active space of two-way communication. In fact, the communication competency is the first competency to be achieved in the curriculum in 2013 and became an important teaching method during the learning process. Therefore, the communication ability of the teachers is very important in the success of the implementation of Curriculum 2013. Teachers must be able to communicate effectively in accordance with their role as a leader and facilitator in the classroom. Giving explanations, asking questions and listening are three effective communication techniques that should be owned by the teacher during this 2013 curriculum. If all three techniques have been mastered and can be implemented correctly then the target of Curriculum 2013 can be achieved.

Abstract

The good relations would have a direct impact on the impression created in the students’ perception. The existence of a positive image of the lecturers would certainly go hand in hand with the creation of a positive image for the majors and the university eventually. This article used case study with qualitative method. The interview was the main tool of data collection. Researchers chosea few students who are still studying during the research but have been studying for few years (3 years or 6 semesters) as the resources/interviewee. It finds that indirectly style and interpersonal communication skills of lecturers can affect image formation majors and university.

Abstract

This researched aimed to show the mutation in the education field in Indonesia because every teacher and principal would have at least once in his/her carrier. Through a qualitative approach and a case study method in Cilandak subdistrict, this research tried to analyze how educators underwent mutations using strategies from Uncertainty Reduction Theory (URT). By using interview and observation techniques, it is found that almost all educators use passive, active, and interactive strategies in gathering various information about the new school that is intended before carrying out the transfer. A forum of teachers or principals and joining community educator groups can be a bridge and media in carrying out this strategy so that it can reduce uncertainties in facing new environments and avoid conflicts that may occur due to ignorance and other threats. To get a certain situation using URT, it needs good competence in interpersonal communication as well.

Abstract

The world of communication starts to experience rapid development in various aspects of life, almost all over the world. In Indonesia, it is marked by the emergence of a lot of tv and radio stations, and started the trend of imaging strategy efforts that is used to win the regional election, nasional election, and even to win marketing competition through company’s products or services image branding. This phenomenon is the opportunity for PR consultants to be successful team in designing appropriate communication strategies and appropriate steps to build the image. This opportunity is used by many people which is characterized by the proliferation of consultancies. Competition between consultants becomes so tight considering the companies or organizations that intend to hire consultants also want the best. Competitive bidding process was conducted, to win this, it needs solid team of consultants required in skills and morally. PR competencies of each member are needed to grow into a successful PR consultant.
