<![CDATA[Ketidaktahuan publik akan nilai emosi dalam seni sering kali memicu salah penilaian terhadap karya hasil pergolakan batin. Masalah krusial ini dapat dijawab melalui analisis The Starry Night karya Vincent van Gogh. Kajian ini memosisikan teori ekspresivisme Benedetto Croce sebagai fondasi utama untuk memahami citra artistik sebagai ekspresi intuisi batin sebelum mewujud dalam bentuk fisik, serta mengintegrasikan konsep ketulusan emosional Leo Tolstoy yang menekankan bahwa kekuatan estetik bergantung pada kejujuran transmisi perasaan seniman kepada penikmatnya. Melalui pendekatan kualitatif deskriptif-analitik, penelitian menerapkan analisis visual yang komprehensif terhadap elemen rupa spesifik seperti gelombang langit yang berputar, kontras warna ekstrem, dan tekstur impasto, yang kemudian diperkaya melalui wawancara reflektif bersama seniman dan akademisi guna memperluas konteks interpretatif. Fokus analisis diarahkan pada cara struktur visual bekerja sebagai medium penyaluran emosi dan pembentuk pengalaman estetis. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwa The Starry Night merepresentasikan keseimbangan dinamis antara keteraturan komposisi dan luapan emosional yang intens, sekaligus menandai transisi dari penderitaan pribadi menuju pencarian makna spiritual. Dengan demikian, nilai estetika karya tidak hanya berakar pada keindahan bentuk semata, tetapi juga pada kedalaman pengalaman batin yang diolah menjadi ungkapan visual universal sehingga mampu menjembatani penderitaan manusia dengan keindahan yang lahir dari penghayatan emosional yang tulus. Uncovering Van Gogh's Inner Turmoil: The Aesthetics of Starry Night from the Perspective of Expressionist Theory ABSTRACT Misunderstanding emotion as beauty causes people to misinterpret an artist's inner turmoil. This crucial issue can be addressed through an analysis of Vincent van Gogh's The Starry Night. This study grounds its theoretical framework in Benedetto Croce’s expressivism, which views artistic images as expressions of inner intuition before manifesting in physical form, and integrates Leo Tolstoy’s concept of emotional sincerity, which emphasizes that aesthetic power relies on the honest transmission of the artist's feelings to the viewer. Utilizing a qualitative descriptive-analytic approach, the research applies a comprehensive visual analysis of specific formal elements such as the swirling sky, extreme color contrasts, and impasto texture, further enriched by reflective interviews with artists and academics to broaden the interpretive context. The analysis focuses on visual method structures function as a medium for emotional channeling and aesthetic formation. The results indicate that The Starry Night represents a dynamic balance between compositional order and intense emotional overflow, marking a transition from personal suffering toward a search for spiritual meaning. The conclusion asserts that the aesthetic value of the work is rooted not merely in the beauty of form but in the depth of inner experience processed into a universal visual expression, thereby bridging human suffering with beauty born from sincere emotional appreciation.]]>
