Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan implementasi serta menguji efektivitas Model Pembelajaran Berbasis Kearifan Lokal Riyaya Undhuh-Undhuh GKJW Mojowarno dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kritis bagi siswa SMP. Kemampuan ini mencakup keterampilan menganalisis informasi, mengevaluasi kredibilitas sumber, dan menarik inferensi. Penelitian menggunakan metode eksperimen semu dengan desain one-group pretest–posttest pada siswa kelas VII SMP Al-Ittihad Mojowarno. Implementasi model dilakukan melalui empat tahap, yaitu orientasi konteks, eksplorasi teks, analisis dan evaluasi kritis, serta inferensi dan refleksi budaya. Data dikumpulkan melalui tes sebelum dan sesudah perlakuan, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan uji-t berpasangan dan N-gain. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan signifikan kemampuan membaca kritis siswa (p < 0,01) dengan nilai N-gain sebesar 0,73 yang termasuk kategori tinggi. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran berbasis kearifan lokal tersebut efektif dalam meningkatkan keterampilan membaca kritis, khususnya pada aspek analisis, evaluasi, dan inferensi. Selain itu, pemanfaatan kearifan lokal terbukti mampu memperkaya pengalaman belajar sekaligus menjadi strategi pedagogis yang efektif dalam mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia. Implementation of the Riyaya Undhuh-Undhuh Local Wisdom-Based Model to Improve Students' Critical Reading Skills This study aims to describe the implementation and examine the effectiveness of a Local Wisdom-Based Learning Model rooted in the Riyaya Undhuh-Undhuh tradition of GKJW Mojowarno in improving junior high school students’ critical reading skills. These skills include the ability to analyze information, evaluate the credibility of sources, and draw inferences. This study employed a quasi-experimental method using a one-group pretest–posttest design involving seventh-grade students of SMP Al-Ittihad Mojowarno. The implementation of the model was carried out through four stages: context orientation, text exploration, critical analysis and evaluation, and inference and cultural reflection. Data were collected through pretest and posttest assessments and analyzed using a paired-sample t-test and N-gain. The results indicate a statistically significant improvement in students’ critical reading skills (p < 0.01), with an N-gain score of 0.73, categorized as high. These findings demonstrate that the local wisdom-based learning model is effective in enhancing critical reading skills, particularly in analysis, evaluation, and inference. Furthermore, integrating local wisdom enriches students’ learning experiences and serves as an effective pedagogical strategy to develop higher-order thinking skills in Indonesian language learning.
