Abstract

Cesarean section is the most appropriate alternative to ensure the safety of the mother and fetus, such as in cases of placenta previa, preeclampsia, or abnormal fetal presentation. However, prior to undergoing a cesarean section, some pregnant women experience feelings of fear and anxiety. These feelings are influenced by various factors, including level of knowledge, educational background, support from a partner, economic circumstances, and psychological aspects. Limited understanding of a condition can increase a person's vulnerability to anxiety. Ignorance about medical procedures is often perceived as a threat or pressure, which in turn triggers stress and fear. This situation is often experienced by pregnant women who do not understand the process of childbirth, especially the stages of a cesarean section and its consequences. This increases the risk of anxiety prior to childbirth. This study used a correlational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. It was conducted in the Operating Room of Karunia Kasih Hospital, Indonesia, from November to December 2025. A total of 48 respondents were selected using total sampling. Data were collected using a combined Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI) questionnaire to measure the respondents' anxiety levels and a questionnaire on the respondents' level of knowledge that had been adapted to assess the respondents' knowledge of caesarean section. Data analysis included univariate and bivariate analysis using the Chi-square test with a significance level of 0.05.The results showed that 8 respondents (25.8%) of the 31 respondents had low knowledge of preoperative anxiety and did not experience anxiety, while 23 respondents (74.2%) experienced anxiety. Among the 17 respondents with a good level of knowledge about preoperative anxiety, 10 respondents (58.8%) did not experience anxiety, while the other 7 respondents (41.2%) experienced preoperative anxiety. The statistical test results between the level of knowledge and preoperative anxiety obtained a P value of 0.051. Respondents with a good level of knowledge tended not to experience preoperative anxiety about cesarean section. This study shows a significant relationship between knowledge level and preoperative anxiety in cesarean section patients. Insufficient knowledge can exacerbate patients' preoperative anxiety. These findings highlight the importance of effective communication by health workers and also the importance of patients' curiosity to gain more knowledge to reduce preoperative anxiety.

Abstract

Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM) is a chronic metabolic disorder that frequently leads to peripheral neuropathy due to prolonged hyperglycaemia. Peripheral neuropathy is characterized by reduced protective sensation in the lower extremities, particularly the feet, thereby increasing the risk of diabetic foot ulcers and amputation. Prevention of these complications requires early detection and appropriate non-pharmacological interventions. Foot massage is considered a safe and easily applicable intervention, while changes in peripheral sensation can be assessed using the simple and reliable Ipswich Touch Test (IpTT).This study employed a quantitative pre-experimental design with a one-group pretest–post test approach. The sample consisted of patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus receiving outpatient and inpatient care at Bekasi District General Hospital. Participants received foot massage according to standard procedures. Peripheral sensation was assessed before and after the intervention using the Ipswich Touch Test. Data were analysed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test to evaluate differences in peripheral sensation before and after the intervention. There was a statistically significant difference in peripheral sensation scores before and after the foot massage intervention. Post-intervention findings showed an increase in the number of respondents with normal peripheral sensation based on IpTT results. The Wilcoxon test yielded a p-value of 0.002 (p < 0.05), indicating that foot massage had a significant effect on improving peripheral sensation in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus. Foot massage significantly improves peripheral sensation in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus as measured by the Ipswich Touch Test. This intervention may serve as a supportive non-pharmacological therapy in preventing peripheral neuropathy and diabetic foot ulcers. Incorporating foot massage as an independent nursing intervention in clinical practice is recommended. Future studies should employ more rigorous research designs, larger sample sizes, and comparisons with other non-pharmacological interventions to produce more comprehensive evidence.

Abstract

Hemodialysis is a kidney replacement therapy that must be performed regularly and long-term. Fatigue is a major clinical problem frequently experienced by patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) undergoing hemodialysis. This condition is chronic and multifactorial, characterized by decreased physical energy, impaired concentration, low motivation, and limitations in performing daily activities. Fatigue not only reduces patients' quality of life but also contributes to poor therapy adherence, psychosocial disorders, and an increased risk of long-term complications. This study used a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design, involving one group of hemodialysis patients who received acupressure therapy intervention. Respondents' fatigue levels were measured before and after acupressure administration to assess the intervention's effectiveness in reducing fatigue. To determine the effectiveness of acupressure in reducing fatigue levels in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis at Anna Medika Hospital, North Bekasi in 2025.The analysis of the effectiveness of acupressure in reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients at Anna Medika Hospital in 2025. The data showed a p-value of 0.028 (p-value <0.05), indicating a significant effect of acupressure on reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients at Anna Medika Hospital in 2025 before and after the intervention.Acupressure therapy has been proven effective in reducing fatigue in hemodialysis patients at Anna Medika Hospital in 2025. The results of this study are expected to inform the development of a socialization program, specifically "Acupressure for Reducing Fatigue in Hemodialysis Patients," which can be implemented in hospitals to reduce dependence on medication or pharmacological therapy.
