Abstract

The rise of globalization and advancements in technology, particularly social media, have significantly influenced the lifestyle changes and social values among students of Islamic Religious Education (PAI). This study aims to explore how PAI students interpret and embody an Islamic lifestyle amid the intensifying currents of modernization and digitalization. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, the research was conducted at the State Islamic University (UIN) Raden Intan Lampung, involving fourth- and sixth-semester PAI students as participants. Data were collected through social media activity observation and in-depth interviews using the snowball sampling technique. The data were analyzed using the Miles and Huberman interactive model. The findings reveal two main tendencies in expressing Islamic identity: first, Islamic lifestyle is used as a social symbol and personal branding on social media; second, it serves as a genuine expression of faith that is private and spiritual in nature. Furthermore, the study identifies a gap between the religious appearance presented on social media and personal religious practice. Students are also engaged in negotiating their religious identity within digital spaces, which often leads to internal conflict between the pursuit of social visibility and spiritual sincerity. This study highlights the importance of critical awareness among PAI students in managing their Islamic identity to remain authentic in the face of pervasive digital cultural influences.

Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is motivated by the low learning interest of students in Islamic Education and Character Education caused by the dominance of conventional teaching methods at SMK PGRI 4 Bandar Lampung. This condition leads to a lack of active student involvement in the learning process. This research aims to determine the effect of the SM2CL learning model (Synectics, Mind Mapping, Cooperative Learning) on students’ learning interest. The study employed a quasi-experimental design with a posttest-only control group design. The sample consisted of an experimental class and a control class selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires, observation, and documentation. The data were analyzed using an Independent Sample t-test after conducting prerequisite tests. The results showed a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating that Ha was accepted and Ho was rejected. It can be concluded that the SM2CL learning model has a significant effect on improving students’ learning interest in Islamic Education and Character Education at SMK PGRI 4 Bandar Lampung. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya minat belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti yang disebabkan oleh masih dominannya penggunaan model pembelajaran konvensional di SMK PGRI 4 Bandar Lampung. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada kurangnya keterlibatan aktif peserta didik dalam proses pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh model pembelajaran SM2CL (Synectics, Mind Mapping, Cooperative Learning) terhadap minat belajar peserta didik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimental Design dengan desain Posttest-Only Control Group Design. Sampel penelitian terdiri atas kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol yang dipilih menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui angket, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji Independent Sample t-Test setelah terlebih dahulu dilakukan uji prasyarat analisis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai signifikansi sebesar 0,000 < 0,05 sehingga Ha diterima dan Ho ditolak. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan dari penerapan model pembelajaran SM2CL terhadap minat belajar peserta didik. Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran SM2CL terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan minat belajar peserta didik pada mata pelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam dan Budi Pekerti di SMK PGRI 4 Bandar Lampung.
