Abstract

Plantation companies have a culture of enhancing work discipline and the work performance of each of their employees. In the development of an organisation within a company, this is naturally implemented and has become standard practice. At Adolina Plantation, Division II of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II served as one of the sites for this research. The conclusions drawn from the research indicate that several assessments were carried out, namely work discipline, work attitude and work performance. The findings of this research indicate that, by examining the performance of the harvesters, their performance has a positive impact on the plantation’s productivity in the long term; work discipline influences the assessment process, thereby providing recognition to each harvester; and work ability yields increasingly better results, with the harvester’s work ability ultimately leading to improved work performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of work discipline and age on the performance of harvesters at Afdeling 1 of PT Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II Tinjowan Plantation. The method used was quantitative descriptive, with a population of 21 harvesters, all of whom were included in the sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were collected through a questionnaire using a Likert scale, observation, and documentation, then analyzed using multiple linear regression with the aid of SPSS version 25. The results indicate that, simultaneously, work discipline and age have a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Partially, work discipline significantly affects performance, while age also significantly affects performance. The results of the coefficient of determination analysis indicate that work discipline and age account for 49% of employee performance, while the remainder is influenced by other factors outside the scope of this study. Thus, improving work discipline and managing the workforce based on productive age can enhance the performance of harvesters.

Abstract

This research aims to calculate the Cost of Goods Manufactured (COGM) for Fresh Fruit Bunches (FFB) and analyze the components influencing cost variations at the Adolina Plantation, PT. Perkebunan Nusantara IV Regional II. The study specifically evaluates the gap between actual production costs and planned budgets to determine operational efficiency. A quantitative comparative method was employed, utilizing variance analysis to compare actual work realization against the Work Plan and Budget (RKAP) for the period 2022–2024. Production costs were categorized into direct costs (harvesting, maintenance, and fertilization) and indirect costs (salaries, administration, and depreciation). The results reveal that the average COGM at Adolina Afdeling IV was IDR 1,586 per kilogram. While total nominal production costs decreased following a reduction in operational area, the unit cost showed a constant upward trend—rising from IDR 1,489 in 2022 to IDR 1,648 in 2024. This increase was primarily driven by a sharper decline in production volume relative to cost reductions. Variance analysis identified favorable conditions in 2022 (5.14%) and 2023 (0.39%), whereas 2024 exhibited an unfavorable variance of -0.001% due to increased labor costs and delayed fertilization schedules caused by extreme weather. Despite fluctuations in production volume and climate-related challenges, the plantation maintained a healthy average profit margin of IDR 1,107 per kilogram. The study concludes that controlled cost management is essential to ensuring operational sustainability and economic value in the face of volatile agricultural productivity.

Abstract

This study aims to identify strengths and weaknesses in oil palm seed marketing, analyze opportunities and threats that influence marketing, and formulate an effective marketing strategy based on a SWOT analysis at PT. Utama Karya Tani. The study was conducted at PT. Utama Karya Tani during March–May using descriptive methods with a qualitative approach. Data were obtained through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using descriptive analysis and SWOT analysis through the preparation of the Internal Factor Analysis Summary (IFAS), External Factor Analysis Summary (EFAS), and SWOT Matrix. The results show that the company's main strengths include good seed quality, the use of certified seeds, good relationships with customers, and business experience. Meanwhile, the company's weaknesses include limited promotion, suboptimal digital marketing, a limited distribution network, and price competition. From the external side, the main opportunities come from the increasing demand for oil palm seeds, the People's Oil Palm Replanting Program (PSR), developments in information technology, and increasing farmer awareness of the use of superior seeds. Threats faced by the company include competition in the nursery business, fluctuating economic conditions, increasing production costs, and changes in market conditions. The analysis results show an IFAS value of 0.78 and an EFAS value of 0.65, placing PT Utama Karya Tani in Quadrant I (Strength–Opportunity). This position indicates that the company is in a favorable position, so the recommended strategy is an aggressive strategy (SO), which utilizes the company's strengths to seize opportunities through improving product quality, setting competitive prices, expanding distribution networks, and optimizing digital-based promotions.
