Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus is a degenerative disease that requires long-term management. Medication adherence plays an important role in treatment success, as it can influence the quality of life in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus. This study aimed to determine the relationship between medication adherence and quality of life among Type II Diabetes Mellitus patients at Bambanglipuro Primary Health Center, Bantul. This study used an analytical observational design with a cross-sectional approach. A total of 52 patients were included using total sampling technique. Medication adherence was measured using the Morisky Medication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8), while quality of life was assessed using the Short Form-36 (SF-36). Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that most respondents had high medication adherence (86.54%) and good quality of life across most domains. The Chi-Square test showed a significance value of p = 0.000 (p < 0.05), indicating a significant relationship between medication adherence and quality of life. In conclusion, there is a significant relationship between medication adherence and quality of life in patients with Type II Diabetes Mellitus.
