Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari pengamatan peneliti pada proses pembelajaran di SMP Negeri 1 Gunungsitoli Utara, yaitu masih belum dikembangkannya lembar kerja peserta didik (LKPD) IPA berbasis inkuiri. Penggunaan LKPD yang kurang menarik bagi peserta didik membuat pembelajaran menjadi kurang bermakna. Oleh karena itu, dilakukan penelitian tentang pengembangan Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD) berbasis inkuiri untuk pembelajaran IPA. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan lembar kerja peserta didik IPA berbasis inkuri pada mata pelajaran IPA kelas VII SMP pada materi pencemaran lingkungan yang layak digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran. Kelayakan LKPD diperoleh melalui validasi ahli materi untuk menilai kelayakan isi materi LKPD, ahli bahasa untuk menilai kelayakan penyajian LKPD dan, ahli desain untuk menilai kelayakan desain LKPD, kepraktisan LKPD dan efektifitas LKPD dalam pembelajaran. Jenis penelitian ini merupakan penelitian pengembangan dengan menggunakan model ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap yaitu; (1) Analysis; (2) Design; (3) Development; (4) Implement; (5) Evaluate. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penilaian untuk mengetahui kelayakan LKPD adalah angket validasi yang meliputi aspek kelayakan isi, kelayakan penyajian, kelayakan desain, kelayakan guru mata pelajaran serta respon peserta didik dan efektifitas LKPD. Hasil penelitian LKPD IPA berbasis inkuiri adalah (1) Kelayakan LKPD IPA berbasis inkuiri kelas VII SMP yang telah dikembangkan dan dinilai oleh validator ahli materi, ahli bahasa dan ahli desain adalah 4 dengan kategori baik. (2) Kepraktisan LKPD IPA berbasis inkuiri yang telah dikembangkan menurut penilaian peserta didik pada uji coba perseorangan, uji coba kelompok kecil dan uji coba lapangan mencapai 95,8% (sangat praktis). (3) Hasil efektifitas peserta didik menggunakan tes hasil belajar mencapai 96% yang tuntas dan yang tidak tuntas sebesar 4% sehingga dikategorikan sangat tinggi.

Abstract

Students’ low conceptual understanding in science learning remains a persistent challenge, often caused by teacher-centered approaches that limit active engagement and meaningful learning experiences. This study aims to examine the effect of the Inquiry learning model on students’ conceptual understanding in science at SMA Negeri 1 Lotu. The research employed a quasi-experimental design using a randomized pretest-posttest control group approach. A total of 52 eleventh-grade students participated in the study, divided into an experimental class taught using the Inquiry model and a control class taught using conventional methods. Data were collected through essay-based tests administered before and after the intervention and analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics, including an independent t-test. The findings reveal that students in the experimental group demonstrated a higher improvement in conceptual understanding compared to those in the control group. The mean posttest score of the experimental class was significantly higher, indicating the effectiveness of the Inquiry model in facilitating deeper conceptual learning. The statistical analysis further confirmed a significant difference between the two groups, supporting the hypothesis that Inquiry-based learning positively influences students’ understanding of science concepts. These results highlight the importance of student-centered learning approaches in enhancing both cognitive outcomes and scientific thinking skills.

Abstract

The low biology learning outcomes of 10th-grade students at SMK Negeri 2 Botomuzoi is the primary problem driving this research. The purpose of this research is to describe the biology learning process and improve student learning outcomes through the implementation of the Meaningful Instructional Design learning strategy. This classroom action research was conducted in two cycles, with 10 10th-grade ATPH students as subjects. Data collection was conducted through observation sheets, learning process questionnaires, learning outcome tests, and documentation. The results showed a significant improvement in the learning process, from 61.13 percent in the first cycle to 77.71 percent in the second cycle. Student learning outcomes also increased from an average score of 68.5 in the first cycle to 85.3 in the second cycle. These findings indicate that the Meaningful Instructional Design strategy is effective in increasing student engagement and understanding of biology concepts, particularly in topics related to ecosystems and the impacts of pollution. This research provides practical contributions for teachers in optimizing meaningful biology learning in vocational high schools.
