Abstract

Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) remains a significant global and national health issue, including in Indonesia, where fluctuations indicate that the SDGs target has not yet been achieved. Postpartum infections, particularly those originating from perineal wounds, are among the major contributors to maternal deaths. The healing process of perineal wounds is strongly influenced by proper wound care and adequate nutritional intake. This community service activity aimed to improve pregnant women’s knowledge regarding wound care and nutritional needs to accelerate perineal wound healing and prevent infection. The activity was conducted on July 5, 2025, in Jempong Baru Village, Mataram City, through three stages: pretest, health education delivery using lectures and audiovisual media, and posttest. A total of 25 pregnant women participated. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, with the proportion of participants in the “good” knowledge category rising from 8% in the pretest to 76% in the posttest. Health education proved effective as a promotive–preventive intervention to enhance women’s understanding of the importance of wound care and nutrition in the healing process. This activity is expected to contribute to reducing postpartum infection risks and support efforts to lower maternal mortality.

Abstract

Introduction: Child nutrition issues remain a significant public health challenge in Indonesia, particularly stunting. Stunting is a condition in which children experience growth failure due to malnutrition, leading to long-term health issues and cognitive development problems. The current prevalence of stunting in Indonesia remains high, still exceeding the national target.  This study aimed to describe family-based child nutrition services and family-related factors supporting stunting prevention among families with children under five years.   Methods: This study employed a quantitative descriptive design. The study was conducted among 100 families with children aged 12–59 months in the working area of Karang Pule Community Health Center. Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire to assess knowledge, attitudes, family support, the role of health workers, and family-based child nutrition services. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and presented as frequencies and percentages. Results:  The findings showed that 60% of respondents had good knowledge, 70% had positive attitudes, 65% reported strong family support, and 55% perceived a good role of health workers. Family-based nutrition services were rated as good by 58% of respondents . Conclusions:  Knowledge, attitudes, family support, and the role of health workers contribute to the successful implementation of family-based child nutrition services. Strengthening family participation and improving nutrition education may enhance efforts to prevent stunting among children under five years of age

Abstract

Introduction: Nutritional problems in mothers and children, including malnutrition and micronutrient deficiencies. In children, these nutritional disorders can appear in various forms, such as intrauterine growth retardation, low birth weight, energy-protein malnutrition, and micronutrient deficiencies such as iron, vitamin A, iodine, and zinc. Malnutrition in children is a serious problem that requires attention because it plays a role in causing approximately 3.1 million cases of death in children under five. The prevalence of stunted (growth retardation) in toddlers in West Nusa Tenggara is 24.5%. Data obtained from the Mataram City Health Office in 2013 showed that 1,136 toddlers experienced growth and development disorders. West Nusa Tenggara recorded 12.6% of children experiencing fine motor delays. Methods:This research is quantitative, using a quasi-experimental design in the form of pre- and post-tests without a control group. The sample size for this study was 56 respondents. Results :There was a significant impact on toddler weight gain. The average weight gain after education was 0.7 kg. Conclusions: Nutrition education provided to mothers of toddlers has been shown to be highly influential and helps increase their weight. Therefore, a nutrition education approach is an effective approach, especially for increasing weight in toddlers.
