Abstract

This community service program aims to address low milling quality and prolonged drying times at CV. RAHMA 35 in Sidrap Regency. Through a Participatory Mentorship approach involving MBKM students, the team implemented interventions including Color Sorter technology and drying machines (Dryer), accompanied by two weeks of technical training. The program also integrated experiential learning and on-the-job training to strengthen workers’ technical competencies and support sustainable technology adoption. The results demonstrated a significant improvement in the physical quality of the rice, with the percentage of broken rice decreasing from 15% to 8%. Furthermore, drying time efficiency improved drastically from 3–5 days to only 14 hours. Human resource capacity enhancement was also measured by an increase in worker competency scores from 45 to 75. In addition, the implementation of simple digital recording and operational standard procedures (SOPs) contributed to improving production management and maintaining quality consistency. This program proves that the adoption of appropriate technology combined with intensive mentoring is capable of sustainably enhancing the competitiveness of rice milling SMEs. The findings also highlight the importance of collaboration between universities, students, and local industries through the MBKM framework in accelerating technology transfer and strengthening rural agroindustry development.
