Abstract

Jirak Field has been facing challenges in separating stable water-in-oil emulsions, resulting in high water content and reduced crude oil quality. This study aims to optimize the dosage of non-ionic surfactant blend demulsifier to enhance oil-water separation efficiency and estimate its required usage volume for field operations. Laboratory-scale bottle tests were conducted using a non-ionic surfactant blend demulsifier at concentrations ranging from 0 to 100 ppm. The main observed parameters were water clarity and Basic Sediment and Water (BS&W) content, measured in accordance with ASTM D4007. The results showed that the blank sample exhibited a BS&W value of 1%, indicating poor oil-water separation efficiency, while the addition of demulsifier at 10–20 ppm resulted in a BS&W value of 0.5%, and doses of 25–100 ppm reduced BS&W to
