Abstract

ABSTRACT Early literacy is an essential foundation of early childhood literacy development, yet children at TK Tunas Harapan III Kota Jambi still demonstrate low literacy skills due to conventional teaching methods and limited digital learning media. Therefore, this study aimed to examine the effect of the ABC learning game application on early literacy skills of children aged 5–6 years. This research employed a quantitative approach with a pre-experimental one-group pretest–posttest design involving 15 children in group B1 across five intervention sessions. The study used an observation instrument based on STPPA standards, and data were analyzed using a paired sample t-test. The results showed an increase in the mean score from 45.46% to 73.06%, with a statistically significant difference (t = 20.270; p < 0.001) and a very strong effect size, indicating that the ABC learning game application effectively improved children’s early literacy skills. In conclusion, the use of this digital media is effective in enhancing early literacy through interactive game-based learning aligned with young children’s developmental characteristics. These findings suggest that integrating digital media into early childhood education can be an innovative strategy to improve early literacy in a more engaging and meaningful learning environment. ABSTRAK Keaksaraan awal merupakan fondasi penting literasi anak usia dini, namun di TK Tunas Harapan III Kota Jambi kemampuan anak masih rendah karena pembelajaran konvensional dan keterbatasan media digital, sehingga penelitian ini bertujuan menguji pengaruh aplikasi game belajar ABC terhadap kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak usia 5–6 tahun. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan desain pre-eksperimental one group pretest-posttest pada 15 anak kelompok B1 melalui lima sesi perlakuan, dengan instrumen observasi keaksaraan awal berbasis STPPA serta analisis data menggunakan uji-t berpasangan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan peningkatan skor rata-rata dari 45,46% menjadi 73,06% serta perbedaan signifikan berdasarkan uji-t (t=20,270; p<0,001) dengan effect size sangat kuat, aplikasi game belajar ABC efektif meningkatkan kemampuan keaksaraan awal anak. Kesimpulannya, penggunaan media digital efektif dalam meningkatkan keaksaraan awal anak melalui pembelajaran interaktif berbasis permainan sesuai karakteristik perkembangan anak usia dini. Temuan ini memberikan implikasi bahwa integrasi media digital dalam pembelajaran PAUD dapat menjadi strategi inovatif untuk meningkatkan literasi awal secara optimal dan menyenangkan di lingkungan Indonesia.
