Abstract

This study aims to determine and analyze the role of village head leadership in improving the performance of employees in Maulafa Village, Maulafa District, Kupang City, as well as to identify the driving and inhibiting factors of the role of village head leadership in improving the performance of Maulafa Village employees. The research method used is descriptive qualitative research. There were 15 informants in this study. The data sources used were primary and secondary data. The data collection techniques used were interviews, observation, and documentation. The results of the study show that the role of the village head's leadership based on Mintzberg's theory has been carried out well in terms of interpersonal relationships (role modeling and motivation), information (information management and delivery as well as coordination and communication), and decision-making (deliberation and resource management). However, the role of resource management has not been optimal, especially in relation to facilities and infrastructure. The driving factors behind the role of the village head in improving the performance of Maulafa Village employees are communication built using a family system, motivation, and a positive work environment, while the inhibiting factors are limited facilities and infrastructure, such as computers and printers, as well as limited funds.
