Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of dancing activities on the social development of group B children at Raudhatul Jannah Kindergarten, Medan. Dancing activities are considered as one form of movement art learning that not only trains motor skills, but also forms children's social interaction skills. This study uses a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design. The subjects of the study were 10 group B children who were selected purposively. Data collection techniques used observation and documentation. The results of the study showed that dancing activities had a positive effect on children's social development, especially in aspects of cooperation, communication, and empathy. Recommendations are addressed to teachers so that movement art activities such as dancing are included in routine activities as a means of forming the social character of early childhood children.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the use of traditional dance as a medium in instilling cultural values ​​in early childhood at TK Ilmi Insani Medan. The background of this study is the importance of preserving culture from an early age and efforts to instill national character through an art approach that is appropriate to child development. The method used is a qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. The results of the study show that traditional dance is used not only as a means of entertainment, but also as an educational medium that introduces values ​​such as cooperation, discipline, respect, and love for local culture. Teachers have a central role in designing contextual and enjoyable learning through dance activities. In conclusion, the use of traditional dance is very effective in supporting character formation and cultural understanding in early childhood.
