Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between learning motivation and science learning outcomes of grade VII students at Xaverius Junior High School, Lubuklinggau City, in the 2025/2026 academic year. This research used a quantitative correlational method. The population consisted of all 83 grade VII students, while the sample was selected using purposive sampling and consisted of 27 students from class VII B. The research instrument was a learning motivation questionnaire consisting of 20 Likert-scale statement items, while learning outcome data were obtained from students daily science test scores. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, linearity testing, product moment correlation, coefficient of determination, and significance testing using the t-test. The results showed that students learning motivation was mostly in the sufficient category, while students science learning outcomes were generally in the good category. The product moment correlation test obtained r = 0.426, indicating a moderate relationship. The coefficient of determination showed that learning motivation contributed 18.14% to students learning outcomes. The significance test showed that tcount (2.602) > ttable (2.060) at the 5% significance level, so the research hypothesis was accepted. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a positive and significant relationship between learning motivation and science learning outcomes of grade VII students at Xaverius Junior High School, Lubuklinggau City
